Some of the backstage faces seen in this special are announcer M.G. Kelly, producer Nancy Jones, director Dick Carson (Johnny's brother), art director Dick Stiles, contestant coordinators Harv Selsby & Scott Page, and stage manager Dency Nelson.
WOW! Vanna's southern accent was very strong in the 80s!
I watched Wheel Of Fortune since it premiered in syndication since 1983. I still watch it to date. I always wanted to be a contestant on the show.
On one hand one would like to be on it because of the prizes but on the other hand I would not just because I can't bear seeing or hearing myself on national TV.
The audition wheel at 2:48 looks cool. It reminds me of the Shopper's Bazaar pilot from 1973.
Well I'm trying out for wheel of fortune and I'm really anxious about it I hope I get on.
And now she only touches the screens with the letters! She doesn't truly need to be up there at all, but she's totally part of the show now.
when u uploaded this it waz my birthday
at 0:10 a cameraman wearing a CBS jacket controlling a NBC camera for a show that airs on ABC
@johnissoevil
Since 1990, the syndicated Wheel moved to all the ABC O&O stations.
2:14 to 2:30, and at 2:43, guy in the blue sweater (Harv Selsby) is a substitute teacher at my high school!
Does anyone remember the episodes of Wheel that aired between 10/25/82 and 12/10/82, where several different hostesses were tried out to replace Susan Stafford (her last episode aired 10/22/82), and before Vanna White was ultimately chosen (her first episode as permanent hostess aired 12/13/82)?
yeah but in Albequerque, they still ran on their CBS station even in 1992.
Actually, Wheel Moved To ABC Owned Stations In 1992.
That's Correct., I Use To Get KABC On A Part Time Basis Where I'm Located. In 1992, And They Were Advertising Wheel Of Fortune
It sure must be nice, appearing on a TV game show and win as much money as possible. Back in 1999, I myself once tried out to appear on "Wheel Of Fortune" when the Wheelmobile was touring the Philadelphia area. They gave me a ticket, but they NEVER called my ticket number :(
Vanna was 31 at the time of this show
1992-93 season, right?
Nice Vanna-mation!
@gameshowluvr86 They probably did that because nighttime Wheel was on CBS O&Os while the daytime version was on NBC, and they didn't want to confuse anyone.
@gameshowluvr86 Maybe it was a clue to where Wheel's distributed now.
Pat was 7 weeks away from leaving the Daytime version, but there's now mention of it.
How rude to whomever asked Vanna her age
What I wish they spent a little bit more time of is on the main star of the show - the wheel itself. Except for a very brief demonstration of which direction to turn it in, they could have reminded the viewers how heavy the wheel actually is.
THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW in the background the same guy that produces WOF.
How weird is that? I noticed that too!
You can't sell furs on game shows anymore. :(
I have GOT to ask Vanna for her fashion secrets! =D She has worn some HOT outfits.
Ive always heard pat and van a were messing around. Has anybody else heard thet?
Pat Sajak and Vanna White ruined Wheel of Fortune for me it always has been and always will be Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford
