I was *IN THE AUDIENCE* the first time *"Wheel"* came to Dallas!! 😁😁😁😁 It was during the 1994 State Fair of Texas and was filmed at the legendary Coca-Cola Starplex Theatre at Fair Park. Heck, I still remember Mama and Auntie surprising me with the tickets in honor of my upcoming 8th birthday! Upon their reveal, I screamed bloody murder (with excitement, I might add...), and tackled Mom in a bear hug lolol... I was a *HUGE "'Wheel'-watcher"* at the time lol... They taped five shows in a row with little breaks in between. I got to see how the set worked, how they changed the *"Wheel's"* spaces round by round (back when they still did that), even got to see how the puzzle board's puzzles were changed during commercial breaks! Keep in mind, this is back when 😍 Vanna 😍 still *turned* the letters. 👍🏾 After the show, we all went out to the fairgrounds and got Fletcher's Corny Dogs! Coolest... evening... EVAR... 😌😌😌
This was when the show went to Dallas at the State Fair of Texas in 94! Also, WFAA Ch. 8 was the station that carried both Wheel & Jeopardy! at that time
I love the Behind the Scenes of Wheel where they taped their road shows in Texas. Vanna looks beautiful. RIP Merv and my fave Wheel announcer Charlie O'Donnell!
Pschh, how come they're blurring out the middle contestant? Why would that guy not want to have been on this BtS show even though he was on the game show itself?
8 feet in _diameter,_ not radius. We can tell because half of the wheel's width of money sections is about 4 feet tall; you can see that next to a 5-6-foot guy! Hmm, I wanted to see what the top surface of the wheel looked like without the labeling.

@8:38, boy, Merv Griffin's gonna go bankrupt, no pun intended, with these scores.

@@jmiller297And from 1983-87, it aired on NBC 5, KXAS-TV. WFAA Channel 8 aired it from 1987-2005, and it has been on KTVT CBS 11 since 2005.
This makes me feel old because I had just moved to Dallas from Chicago and now Pat Sajak is retiring next week
there's a brief blur in the video because somebody filed a privacy complaint.
Lol...
"You invaded my privacy by showing the time I deliberately sought out to appear on national television "
What a great behind the scenes look pre computerized days! Not only the puzzleboard, but the scoreboard and used letter board has changed too.

Jim Thornton has done a wonderful job carrying on the legacy that the legendary Charlie O'Donnell has done for many years

Likely the last interviews Nancy Jones gave before being replaced on Wheel?

And vintage always looks good. But oh how the tech has changed on Wheel. And of course, this fall, so will the host in Ryan Seacrest.
