My personal experience with Devin is, that after 15 seconds with him, you have forgotten, that he is famous.
Just a great guy to have a chat with.

One of my fondest and proudest dad moments was taking my eldest son to his first ever gig this year, of course it was Devin Townsend at Royal Albert Hall. He's such a legend and a real inspiration. A proper old school role model. Cheers Hevydevy!

So, I'm not someone who particularly enjoys a lot of Devin's music, honestly, but I very much appreciate the man. However, I get great joy out of listening to the man talk. Insightful, thoughtful, unique, compassionate.

My most cherished memory in my entire life is when me and one of my best friends Chilli met him after a gig in Nottingham. He was the most lovely, friendly and humble people I've ever met. The crazy Canadian played a bloody long gig and was outside with us fans for about 3 hours. He didn't leave to sleep until about 2am (I think...I ended up having to crawl to bed about 1am lol). I cannot wait until he's playing in Norwich next year. Got my ticket at 10:02am when they went on sale...at 10am 🤣🤣🤣
    Edit: spelling

I feel like even though he explains it over and over in interviews that a lot of people don't grasp his writing process. To me it seems like his writing is his therapy, how he works through the events and feelings in his life, and it's interesting that he recognizes that once he's worked through it he can move on to the next thing instead of chasing the same thing over and over. Probably why his music is among the most genuine feeling I've ever heard.

The “metal community” can be super judgmental. It’s really simple: let Dev be Dev.

If there is one thing that is intimidating about Devin, it's not that he is famous, it's his talent. He has the aura of someone who is out of this world. He also have an insane confidence.

Never heard of the guy before, and I just checked out his music. And do you know what. What an utterly boring music. Plus it sounds so generic and computer generated. His voice ain't good either. I am baffled about that he is popular at all, so I had to read up a little bit. Do you know what I found? Devin Townsend Project is on hiatus. When reading a snippet of his interviews recently, only thing I can sum up is an insecure guy who do not know what kind of music to write and settle with.
Went through a lot of his music on Spotify. You know what, I found nothing good, and there is dozen of other music to listen to. This is a fact! Prove it? Just listen to what he says in interviews, giving up, and sum it together with how many individual streamers he's got on Spotify. Nuff said. Not everyone NEEDS to create music. Time for Devin to find a normal 9-17 job.

Man, I got a bit sad when the French man said that was the last question. I could listen to this man speak for hours. He's not only a great musician but he's also unapologetically authentic in how he just is. Fucking love this guy.

The whole concept of "being famous" is weird, maybe because i am from The Netherlands we love the "Down to earth" and have a saying "act normal, you are already acting strange enough".
Now for progressive rock/metal more the alternative music the most musicians are very normal. There is not so much a social difference.
What the fans needs to learn is "dont bother those people, let them have privacy". With the biggest respect, im totally not interested in his personal life.
Devin makes fantastic music, i love his music, but he is the same as another human being.
To make a sober comparison: if i am in a hospital for an operation. I dont care about his music, i want a good doctor.
And at the end: i would like having a asshole of a doctor making me better, then a very nice doctor who does not know what he is doing....
