Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge Forrest! I am new to kriya and meditation and experiencing numbness and disjoint of head and bottom part of body and got freaked out and stopped the meditation. I am so glad I found this video from you to help answer my strange question . Gratitude 🙏🏽
Thank you Forrest. Your instruction has completely transformed me in a very short period of time. Such a thing I did not think was possible and my old self looking forward would look at this and have no idea what happened to me. I’d been living in my mind, thinking that being a master of multitasking in the brain was what I needed to do to better myself but that was actively killing me. Thank God for you, Forrest - and I say that as a previous lost faith Christian. I never knew God, never thought that was possible before. Thank you!
This is what enthralls me about meditation, your approach, Kriya, and spirituality in general: what am I, in the end? What I am revealed to be in meditation isn't something I change into by meditating, it's what I always was and always am. If it's possible to contact a frame of reality in which my nature is stripped bare and shown to be pure first-person subjectivity, that reality must always be lurking behind the narrative. If there is a plane or vantage point that uncovers a universe more fundamental than the gross material world, that is the universe I am always living in whether I know it or not. It gives me shivers!
The second time I had a freeze response experience, I felt Qi embracing and sheltering me. It was like a soft, warm, delicious blanket. A magical experience. Thank you forever Forrest. 💫
Today’s quote about sums it up for me “…it takes effort to live effortlessly.” …thank you, Forrest, so perfect! Today required lots of effort from me because monkey mind wasn’t having it 😀
I love it when you mention a feeling that I experience. I sit here and smile. Meditation has changed my life. Kriya Yoga in particular. Thank You Forrest.
I felt like I lost my head and reached up to check. I knew it was still there of course but still felt surprise when my hands touched my face. I love this.

With due permission from the professor, Forrest Knutson, I would like to add that your posture too plays a major role in attaining stillness. Bhārateeya (Indian) sitting postures like padmāsana, siddhāsana, etc help tremendously. Even simple cross legged sitting with your heels locked as in sukhāsana is just wonderful. A loose posture to me is a difficult beginning. Keep your spine straight and let the bliss unfold on you. As Patañjali in his ashtāñga yóga said, yama, niyama, āsana, prāNāyāma followed by pratyāhāra, ........
Your videos are amazing and very informative. Thank you. My teeth feels like they are put in a mold and cannot move after a few minutes of meditation. Is that what freeze response. It happens even if I am not meditating but sitting still while reading on a laptop also. Please let me know. Thanks
I have felt the whole body "gone" while in the bath tub a few times, I have felt this with the eyes open, felt the spirit feel disconnected from the body, very unique and special feeling. like dead a bit, lol, but not, just feel a clear maybe separation of body and spirit. not sure if this response you are sharing about can be experienced with the eyes open like that? thank you Forrest.
Thank you so much, Forrest. I have received and viewed the 3 training videos from your website. HRV has changed my life dramatically. I appreciate you so much! If we see scenes or hear words during deep meditation, how do we know it's not sleep? I keep yanking myself back, but then arguing with myself, how could I dream so quickly? This is fun but so murky at times, ha ha 😂
That's a fantastic question. So like I explained on the third training, you have to get a feel for what is beyond the subconscious. The translation for what is known as the Higher Self in Huna is, totally trustworthy parental figure. So if you get a message that seems to be guiding you, and it rings true to you, and it feels inspirational, then this is probably coming through the gamma brain wave. If however it is not inspirational and it feels muddled like a dream, then you were entering into the slow brain waves. This is very good but we want to go beyond it. So we want to stay focused on the breath, or the chakras, or Bliss, or expansion.
@@ForrestKnutson Thank you so much! Yes, the scenes are muddled and have no meaning to me. I will try to bring myself back to my breaths more gently. And watch the third training again ~ your videos are so good! My Higher Self is firm and kind, usually shows me things in Dreams. This clarifies all that now I can proceed with more confidence.
@@kimthomas8535 it's really tricky and you might have heard me call it the gauntlet of sleep. It's not that we want to reject it because the process is necessary to have more access to the subconscious brain waves. But we don't want to be drowned in them we want the subconscious to lightly unravel so we can pass through it into the gamma. I'm so glad you're going to watch the training again because I try to go through this and make it easy to understand. Blissings!
@@ForrestKnutson There was a lot of information in that video and I was planning on watching it again for that reason. I'm a good dreamer, fall asleep easily and get interesting messages that way. Fabulous challenge for me to try and access myself while awake! I'm such a mystery ha ha!

What about freeze response in terms of Dorsal vagal freeze causing ptsd symptoms e.g emotional numbness. Is there a way to use spiritual practice to get out of this response and get emotions back online?
A lot of the distortion in terms of the body sense can be understood in the preconscious process of attempting to remap the homunculus to the physical body by becoming aware of distortions and deletions which is really only available when moving very slowly a la Tai Chi or in stillness
Forrest!! Thank you for your videos. One question: even though Yogis say that all chakras are always working, what does it mean when from one day to another you start feeling all the time the activity of one particular Chakra, whereas you don't feel the others? Does it mean a particular form of activation or what? That it opened for the first time?
No it is not, when you develop it slowly and on purpose using an original system such as Lahiri Mahasaya's. You slowly go into a deeper and deeper tranquil breath and that's what makes it safe and easy for the body.
Hey forrest! Have been watching you for a while, thanks a lot for your content. I was initiated in Kriya yoga of Babajo ( Marshall Govinda) but it seems a lot different from other types od kriya. Can you indicate where can I be initiated in the traditional lineage of Lahiri Mahasaya?
Forrest, so I have finally got rid of my hypnic jerk. But as you say I often tense up a lot still and I can get the freeze response when ever but as I hold it and focus harder I tense up normally. I've tried not focusing and I go more towards sleep.
The numbness you talk about I get and I would say that's the shell feeling talked about. What I noticed right away is I can move my awareness around my body with this "numbness" I can move the numbness around. Mainly up and down my spine and in and out of my hand from right to left. When I move it around things happen , mainly a deep level of release where the awareness is turned. I can turn my freeze response and dim my body basically on command after only a few minutes of breathing from my root to my heart . But again I often can't stay there
I get the wave and bliss to and it's absolutely power. I can also move that wave around too but it normally goes top to bottom. While moving it thought I have had a experience I am not sure what it was. Twice now I had a shock on my big to shoot right up the main nerve but continue to my head and my mind's eyes went blue dots like I sneezed hard or was hit. It happen to the right toe but happen similar with the left. Any idea what that was? I'd like to add is ni herniated my disc and my sciatic nerve was pinched at that time. But both times it happen in meditation though.
I recommend l- theanine decaffeinated 1 hour before meditation. L theanine is extracted from green tea. 100mg contain about 20 cups. It is relaxing but not sedating. It is also suitable for studying or working. Supposed to increase the alpha brain waves. There have also been studies with people who have an anxiety disorder. 200-400mg a day significantly reduced anxiety. I only take 100mg which is enough for me for meditation. Maybe it will help someone. :)
I'm a doctor and I don't believe in L-theanine. L-theanine is a nootropic. So it is a drug that decreases serotonin levels in favor of catecholamine levels, which creates an increase in attention and focus. Why would you want to use drugs to artificially increase concentration in meditation?
