    Great LR gig editing tutorial - (better than most I've seen on UA-cam).
    I've been shooting gigs for over 10 years and am pretty experienced with Lightroom.
    But I learnt a couple of new tricks - using the calibration panel, and the split toning section.
    Cheers.

    For me these have always been the hardest situations to photograph and edit properly (esp. being colourblind). Thank you so much

    this is fucking great. i HATE how every music venue now is washed with all magenta or red colours only. its absolute insanity.

    • @PatrickBergerPhoto
      @PatrickBergerPhoto  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, you‘re right. Light technicians are not photographers and they probably think it‘s cool or moody that way but it‘s not very original and a pain to shoot. I I think it‘s super important to have a white light from front of stage on a performing musician and the colored led’s in the background.

    That’s good , I specialise in photographing music , I would have tried the paint spray icon for colour Colour balance first but you’re right it is totally out of your control

    Great video, definitely gonna try this out! How would you fix the highlights on her face? :) Thank you!

    • @PatrickBergerPhoto
      @PatrickBergerPhoto  Рік тому +1

      Thank you very much! Unfortunately there is no further fix for the highlights - when they‘re blown out (clipping) there is no sensor data left to work with. You can try to edit the rest of the image in a way so this becomes less obvious though (e.g. desaturate or convert to b/w).

    Great video! Really good explanation.
    Just a small problem I had during the last concert I’ve photographed: the band liked that magenta/purple light, and by doing your editing I would remove that effect. What would you do in this situation?
    Thank you ❤

    • @PatrickBergerPhoto
      @PatrickBergerPhoto  25 днів тому +1

      Thanks mate! In that situation I‘d probably try to go for an edit, that somewhere sits in the middle to make everyone happy ✌️

    • @ShyrusBean
      @ShyrusBean 25 днів тому

      @@PatrickBergerPhoto I talked with the band and they said that was their style. They chose those light colours on purpose. So I’m just trying to not over expose some areas and do my best haha
      Initially I was going more towards B&W but they are coming fine now.
      Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for the great video! Question: Do you get the same editing flexibility by shooting JPEG, then converting to smart object in PS and using the RAW camera filter? Or is shooting RAW still the better option?

    • @PatrickBergerPhoto
      @PatrickBergerPhoto  4 місяці тому

      Hey there, thanks for watching.
      No, you definitely do not. By starting with a JPEG you’re basically starting your edit with a file format that’s been already compressed in your camera. Converting it to a smart object just put’s the image in some sort of “container” within PS that protects the original image when you apply different tools/filters/etc but it still remains a JPEG. RAW on the other hand is the uncompressed output of your camera sensor and contains much more information and data. That’s essential especially if you want to lift shadows, denoise or recover the original colors.

  • @Jazielleijaa

    I’ll say the shot at the beginning is NOT useable, it’s just a preference

    • @PatrickBergerPhoto
      @PatrickBergerPhoto  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, it‘s definitely not useable to deliver to a client but for the purpose of this video it‘s a nice example to show the capabilities of RAW data.
