Period at 9yrs old... severe anger/mood swings at 12, depression at 13, panic attacks and anxiety at 20. At 28 I was diagnosed with PMDD and told there was nothing I could do except get my uterus removed. I'm 36 now and FINALLY found a doctor to help with my PMDD. I've lost 27yrs of life because of doctors brushing it off and telling me to take motrin or get out more.

I hope you're doing better now, Indie. It's so sad that we live in a world where men still think they know best about women and have set the rules of how women should be looked at and treated.

Hi there. I think it would help every other woman with pmdd Symptoms if someone whos got their ovalries removed or went through a Hysterectomy would document the physical vs. The psychological changes in detail via the comments.
      I'm really interested in this.

@@biancahotca3244 diet and Journaling. Seems odd, but I journal to track how I'm feeling. That way every month I can know what's coming and can support myself better. Diet, coincides with the Journaling. If I need to add more iron, protein or carbohydrates I know to. I also prioritize sleep and have a support system at game so that they can also be there for me.

Marwa, this was amazing!!!! I have recently been diagnosed with a hormone imbalance, after seeing 3 doctors, two of which said it was "just pms" and hormones couldn't be read. My FSH and LH levels are all over the place, and I have a treatment plan. I'm also now working with my body and learning to understand it more. I'm incorporating more vegetables into my body, probiotics, and ensuring I get enough sleep! Thank you for this talk though, it highlighted just how sensitive your hormones can be to other parts of your body and it's not just always a psychological problem.

What is talked about in that video can "save" my life. I'm right now living like my 240th week of hormonal waves/pain/depression/intense fatigue/loss of way too much blood/insomnia.
I often think, I'll never have a normal life, I'll never be able to build myself, and to build steady relationships, etc.
However learning how your body and mind works and being kind to yourself and trying to have the healthiest lifestyle as possible, and being transparent about it with the people around you so that they can understand & support you is truly the key. Thank you for this video !

Very good talk, this information needs to be heard. Many doctors don't take the issue of women having hormone imbalance and other related PMS issues seriously. Thank you for bringing this topic to light, we women intuitively know when somethings isn't right, we need to hold our health care providers to a higher standard to find a holistic solution, and not just prescribe a pill that may or may not solve the multi-layered issues that we are dealing with. It is about doctors (who are predominantly men) taking the time to truly listen to us to carefully and compassionately.

Carmen LeMon same. I've been suffering for years and years but because I don't have visible endometriosis the multiple gynos I have seen just say I have bad periods and there's nothing to do but try different birth controls. I've been on half a dozen different birth controls, gotten an iud, taken intense narcotic painkillera and take zofran for constant nausea at least 1 week out of the month but not even that really puts a dent in my suffering. I'm currently on dat 3 of not being able to leave my apartment because of the "period pain" that my dr continues to shrug off as just a normal thing that I'll just have to learn to deal with. It took until 9 pm today to even feel well enough to drive to the pharmacy to pick up medication and I just got home and immediately threw up after trying my best not to vomit from the nausea and headache while driving..If only this was actually taken seriously..

I'm so pleased to see this-I've been saying this for years. So many women with the illness i have- M.E./CFS have period/hormonal issues. I believe the part of the brain that creates the illness and keeps us ill is in the midbrain-ie the HPA (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Amygdala) axis
so it isn't surprising that this affects the message to the ovaries.

The pill actually changed nothing. I believe my state of mind truly changed everything as i was being more positive and less stressed out my hair loss and acne diminished at a remarkable level. One year later i find this talk, Dr Marwa you are amazing!! whatever she said is entirely true, the main problem is stress and we as women need to get a grip of it since it manifests in such a way that is drastic to us. For a full education on hormones I highly recommend Menopause Barbie Taylor (a gynecologist) who has put together a wonderful education that all women deserve. I was shocked to discover the health risk to women when these hormones leave our bodies. Which they will for all of us eventually. There is so much you can do with the right education and care to live a great long life x. Enjoy 💛

I have PMDD and you sound similar to me. The tests Dr.'s have doesn't usually pick up PMDD. I've recently heard about the Dutch Plus test and will likely do that soon to really pinpoint all the ins and outs of my cycle. You can check out IAPMD for more info on PMDD. Much love to you on your journey.

I know it’s been a couple months, but I hope you see this. PMDD studies show that PMDD is not necessarily affected by hormone levels. Rather, people with PMDD react to their regular levels of hormones differently than people without PMDD.

I suddenly developed an anxiety disorder out of the blue 3 months ago. I've always suffered from depression, bad enough to ruin my life, but not bad enough to end it. It's just always been there. The anxiety, however, is a whole other animal. Unfortunately, the two seem to work together now to torture me. I've been tested for everything under the sun, including perimenopause. I'm on a wait list to be tested for sleep apnea. I was found to have low testosterone, despite having PCOS. I have multiple vitamin/mineral deficiencies that required prescription medication. I've been working on my CBT for anxiety, the 'accept and float' method. It's frustrating when I have setbacks as severe as this past week has been for me. And though the vitamins and minerals haven't had time to replenish, and sleep apnea hasn't been ruled out, I can't help but feel this may be a hormonal problem. I may be trying too hard to fix the anxiety and depression, but I can't rule out a physiological cause. Is anyone in a similar situation?

Mine started three months ago, too! The doctor diagnosed me with anxiety/stress & put me on Lexapro. It seems as if it came out of nowhere. I was sad about some things but not THAT sad. It comes around the start of my cycle & then leaves right at the end. Didn't like the way the meds made me feel. I went back to my CBD oil which helps a little. I figure my hormones are out of wack, too. I'm also seeing a therapist. Just tell yourself when you feel down that this feeling is temporary. Journaling, yoga, therapy, meditation helps. Diet change# I'm new to this but I hope I won't have to suffer long with it. I pray to God I don't.

@@22PinkAmber My doctor prescribed a tranquilizer and an antidepressant, and told me to see a therapist. The therapist confirmed what I had suspected, that the sudden onset of an anxiety/panic disorder in adulthood usually has a physiological cause. My doctor hasn't been any help. Everything I know I've had to research on my own. The CBT techniques of Dr. Claire Weekes have been my saving grace. Thanks for the advice, and good luck to you.

@@bamabelle7075 Thank you! I've had to research on my own. I start CBT with my therapist next week. I've been looking into taking magnesium & B12 to help balance my hormones. Idk what to do. If you find something that helps you please let me know. I will do the same.

very informative and eye opening. I really wish more Doctors thought like you! I've had very painful PMS my whole life and I just thought it was normal and I just had to take it. I'm presently looking into alternative holistic ways to balance my hormones including herbs and essential oils, hypnosis, yoga, meditation, etc.

Eat almonds and cashews regularly. Take Evening Primrose Oil, about 2,000 mgs daily 1-2 weeks BEFORE cycle to balance hormones. You can take 1 per day after the period ends.
Drink minimum of 5 bottles of water. Eat a lot of kale, broccoli, cauliflower and spinach. Lower caffeine intake.
Drink Organic Raspberry Leaf tea most days before your cycle begins AND the first few days of it. This has all helped me tremendously.
