    As an immigrant, I can't agree with what he said more. Most Americans don't know how easy they've had it. most of them won't be able to survive in a third world country.

      I don’t know, there are a lot of fatties in America, they’d slim down to a normal weight in a third world country.

      My husband came from a Third World country. Learn English. Got a masters degree in English. Got his license, and opened a counseling practice. That whole process took about a decade and a half, but now he’s making more money than the average American is. he was never afraid of hard work. You are very right.

Thanks 🙏 North America 🫨 no degree no car payments no house payment and 675k in my bank. All thanks to this county, good behavior with money and hard works ( I’m very thankful with our lord ).

    My wife and I took his Financial Peace University class in Spring 2010. We intentionally took it two more times since then, and just finished leading a fourth class at our church for the first time. Today we are debt free, except for the mortgage, have 3-6 months of monthly bills saved up for an emergency, we run our own small business, and we will have our house paid off in just under five more years.

      Faith and Frugal If it's not taught in school, no one will learn. Kids in school, grow up to adults. Which have kids who then go to school. It's a cycle.

      @angel201025 - you’re not kidding. Basic finance and budgeting should be MANDATORY as part of the HS curriculum. This is something that would actually prepare kids to become responsible adults. But of course, our illustrious leaders that actually set the curriculum know better ............

    So true about getting noticed at work. I got in earlier, dressed better and stayed later. I became a VP in 5 short years and doubled my salary to a six figure income. Every day with a smile on my face regardless of how exhausted I was. It wasn’t easy, but I served as if it was God himself who asked me to get the job done. Give me a whole different attitude.

    This really hits home to me from the standpoint that everyday when I go to work I go in there with the intention of working and doing my job and doing what I can to stay busy because it not only benefits the business in certain ways but also helps the time go faster from being in motion just by working. Yet there are so many in my workplace that seem to basically have it in their heads that there is such a thing as a "free" paycheck when in reality there's not and then run their mouth off and make a stink about someone who is actually working and not goofing off and standing around. Also what is such a big turn off to me in the workplace is when people can't mind their own business and worry about doing their job and stop being nosy and making a stink about what this person over here or that person over there is doing. Dave is ever so right in this segment that we only do what we choose to do in that we can work and be successful or not work and falsely think that our spouse, important other, parents or even the world is going to cater to us. Speaking along the lines of what Dave would say when people like that are in their later years........I hope that you'll all be well stocked up on dog food by then if not start looking for the coupons for it in the Sunday papers now while you can.

    I put on Facebook people need to focus on savings not on a credit score and this was one of my followers response : "Credit is important though, you might not own the car yet but with good credit you'll eventually own that car a lot less than someone with bad credit, Same with house and pretty much anything you're paying interest on." .. Dave this is when I knew I'm on the right path they are glorifying debt acting like it's good not knowing that saving is power and being debt free as well. I am thankful I found you through the debtfreecommunity I feel like I'm finally part of the millionaires club I'm not there yet but I will get there .

    3:43 I'm a trucker an work very hard for my money. Us truckers put in a hundred hours a week but log just 70 because the law said so. If we got paid for everything we do we would have the best jobs in the world, but we give so much of our time away for free because it is expected, because no company out there wants to pay us what we are worth.

    Gee Dave, I wish it was as easy as smiling, being polite and work hard was all it took. I used to to a lot and it was known I was one of the hardest workers in the office with an awesome disposition. Then when it came time for raises, I was given less then my counterpart who did half the work I did. I’ve lost interest in my job and know I just show up and do the minimum I have to do. I’m very dissatisfied and I know it’s my decision to continue to work at a place that doesn’t appreciate their employees so I don’t blame the company. I need to be intentional with my career but I feel that I can’t until I’m out of debt.

    From a single man's perspective... if you stay away from dating materialistic women...and avoid women who refuse to work... you can have what you want some day if your spouse is working with you towards your goals.

    • @azlizzie
      @azlizzie 7 років тому +8

      Avoiding materialistic people isn't gender specific. Also having a genuine conversation with a materialistic person about their real goals can turn around that behavior. Doesn't have to be a deal breaker unless they aren't willing to think beyond today.

      It's funny I think the depression generation and slightly after have very good money smarts. It seems most of the first generation after the depression blow their money away. My parents are the same as yours 55 broke and on disability. Blew all their money away when they had it and cashed out the 401ks early. My grandparents 78 and 83yo however own a sizable estate and live very comfortable lives on their 401k retirement and pensions. Very smart people, out lived their expected death age by 10 or more years and have more than enough still. You can guess who I take advice from lol

    "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. You have power over your mind - not outside events... our life is what our thoughts make it." - Marcus Arelius.
