I’ve been looking for a channel like this for a while for HomeKit automation. Never would have guessed this would be it based off the name of your channel. But great work thus far! You got a subscriber

Would be great if you addressed the problems that can happen between Phillip hue and home kit.

Would be great if this request specified what problems you are experiencing. Troubleshooting first requires knowledge of the undesired behavior. That being said the Hue App has been overhauled and integrates so well into HomeKit mist prior issues are solved. Would like to know what problems you still have

Roxul insulation might make your life more enjoyable. it is the most efficient for heat and noise resiste to fire and moisture. and also floating panel around that pompe room vibration would not be transmitted to the rest of the wall.

    Another solid video.
I’m a little disappointed in the lack of HomeKit Wallpapers. As you mentioned, it’s a hassle to create consistency of appearance across devices. It would be awesome if there were a single source of (properly formatted) images that match ‘rooms’.
The results of searches for slick background photos/clip art have been disappointing at best.
As for the rest of the HomeKit utility...I’m reasonably impressed with the functionality/ease-of-use of the system. I think for the ‘average’ home it does everything pretty well.
I’d say that people who are looking for super-advanced systems should be looking into a Crestron or Control4 solution. But for ‘normal’ tech-oriented folks (the 95%), HomeKit is robust enough...and offers the features they will need to offer a satisfying experience.
    Just my $0.02.

Thanks Bradley. I agree on the wallpapers and I think HomeKit is shaping up to be a solid solution for most of us. It’s way easier to use than setting stuff up in say the Alexa app

I actually took pictures of each room and made them their own wall paper. Works pretty well. But ya the lack of stock photos sucks

I created an iCloud shared photo album with pictures of my home areas & rooms, so they are easy to access from all devices to use as backgrounds, which makes it easy to resize or zoom for iPad or iPhone. I can also swap pictures of the outside, say for holiday lights, as I change up accessories to control outdoor lights.

I’m starting to think i should have just have 3 rooms.. one for each level (ie. Man Cave, 1st floor & 2nd floor)... that way i can be more descriptive on the light switch name that control the lights. For example, in my Theater room, i have a room called “Theater”. In that room i have 6 can lights on a Lutron Caséta switch called “THeater lights”. Then i have a Phillips hue light strip around the Riser for the 2nd row of seats. I have a separate can light over the wet bar controlled by a different lutron Caséta switch... then there is a bathroom in the theater room which is controlled by a 3rd lutron Caséta switch. All of these are in the theater room. When I’m watching a movie on the projector i like the to have the Riser light at 25%, the wet bar lights off & the bathroom lights are off & activated on a Phillips hue motion sensor. The overhead can lights i like to have at 5% or less. Guess what, when i tell Siri to set theater lights to 5%... she makes all the lights 5% b/c they are all in the “Theater room”. I don’t like that at all. So I’m thinking of creating a room called “Man Cave for the entire basement (there are 3 other rooms along with the theater room, a Mudroom, my office & an entry room). THat way i can call each Lutron Caséta switch the actual room name so i can control each lights off the switch individually. But then i’m thinking I have to do the same in the lutron app, the Phillips hue app etc. I’m switching over close to 100 “Smart” devices from SmartThings to HomeKit.. I’m so over SmartThings & Alexa.. i swear if i hear Alexa tell me one more time.. “A few things share that name, which do you want... “ I’m going to smash that Alexa device...lol. This is an expensive transition & i can’t get there fast enough. Thanks for the channel, it’s helps a lot

I have a bunch of different smart plugs as well as different scenes. Whenever one ‘stops working’ and I need to reset it, it’s a major pain to go in and re-add to the accessory every scene.
I’m wondering if it would make sense to put all plugs in the automation section and only keep lights dedicated to the scenes tab.
Not sure, though, because the automations section would get pretty ‘messy’ as well. Argh!

Yeah it would be nice to be able to filter out accessories by type (lights or plugs) or organize automations. I think this really where third party apps that control HomeKit is handy. I don't know of a specific one that meets your request, but I bet it's out there on the App Store.

Any advice on sharing homes? My wife's account is our hub account, but when she invites me to join, I can't. It fails. We have in the past shared contacts through icloud. I have tried her account texting me the invitation, but that didn't work either. Besides -starting over- with the home, any other thoughts?

Very good video, but the music is annoying

It's honestly amazing and quite annoying that HomeKit does not sync each rooms photos over to other devices attached to that home, it's the lack of little details like this that annoy me greatly. Also, the lack of icons such as once depicting recessed lights or sconces rather than just the current lightbulb and lamp icon leave much to be desired. I still love HomeKit, just seems like Apple has so much room for improvement.

Really informative video! I wish this was around last year when I racked my brain with the setup process. Logical naming convention is crucial. Hey Siri... ❝ ❞ 🤔
BTW: Do you have any experience with 'iHome' Smart Plugs? I still upon occasion need to reset mine - sometimes all fourteen of them in one day! 🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌🔌 😖
