This is funny because I remember being 8 years old watching EMERGENCY! ( At risk of dating myself) but Dr. Bracket always had Johnny and Roy start an IV, which my mom explained what an IV was. I always wondered why some got lactated ringers vs just an IV. And when we played pretend that we were in the show we'd actually say one or the other.. because someone would pretend to be Dr. Bracket on the walkie talkie! And I used to wonder if I was choosing correctly. I've always wondered. I guess it's a real life dilemma....and the grown ups didn't actually know for sure, as little kids always think grown ups do.
