    I agree with Jonathan in a sense, I like paper maps because I have better perspective than on GPS.

      Yeah paper maps are good. Except I always manage to rip them to pieces after a week,...

    I've used Garmin GPS units for years and found them to be great. I also use the Zumo XT now. In my experience, people's problems with using GPS originates from a misunderstanding on how to use them.
    So many people blame GPS for user errors. It's typical in my experience with Garmin units that people don't know the difference between a waypoint, a via point, and a shaping point and how each different point affects navigation. They also plan routes and drop points either off the road or on the wrong side of multi-lane carriageways, then wonder why their GPS is sending them back on their route.
    The Zumo units have reliably allowed me to do many trips around mainland Europe and the UK without any problem.

      Yeah that’s probably true. I am not the brightest when it comes to technology so I know I don’t fully understand how to use it.
      But my biggest issues are that things that should be simple and work often doesn’t.
      Like connecting it to a computer. My laptop doesn’t read the GPS. I’ve tried different cables and rebooted and updated and everything I can think of, but it doesn’t connect. So it makes putting maps on it very difficult. It should be as simple as sending a GPX file to it but that doesn’t work.
      And for some reason it won’t boot up when I start the bike a lot of times. And disconnect to the power source. But then suddenly works against

    Hi, love this length of videos. I think that it is enough and not too bothersome. I also think that it will free some editing time. Any way like your adventures together. Drive on safe roads.

    I'm a bit surprised the both of you are still travelling together! Both of you are very nice, but, to me at least, you seem to have very different personalities! Anyways, good luck on the next leg of your journey and be glad you aren't here on the west coast of Norway because the weather this summer has been horrible!

    I have double take mirrors on my XT. They are very good, you don't need to tighten them tight, leave them a bit loose and they move quite easily.

    I love my Doubletake mirrors. Much harder to break, but very easy to be stolen - keep an eye on them.
    There is a place on the back of the mirror for the sticker to go where it acts as a reflector - but stick it wherever you like.
    Ride safe.

    Interesting to see. Glad they finally arrived!

    Finally! Strange postal system.
    I haven't seen these mirrors in the flesh. Look like a good piece of kit. Folding on impact, or just flip out of the way. Be interesting to see how you get on with them.
    Both phone and gps wirk well with their own advantages.
    Just use what works for you is my own opinion.
    But I still carry a map and plan my route with it.
    Happy travels 👍

    Glad you finally got to mount the DoubleTake mirrors. Hope they are working out for you. You do see them on a lot of ADV bikes that actually get ridden as intended. Ride safe Kenneth.

    Short episode but we wanted to see the mirrors arrive and be installed. I like Waze for GPS. But I don’t own a motorcycle?? Stay warm and safe!!

    The threads aren’t of different sizes, just different direction. One is ”normal” righty tighty lefty loosy and the other one is opposite. That is because it prevents the wind drag from loosening your mirrors when riding. And that is why you got an adapter with the kit.

    OMG, I totally agree with Johnathan. I have the same thing, Zumo XT, and I use my phone until I loose signal. The Zumo is just an expensive back up for when there is no signal.

    • @RidetheBean
      @RidetheBean  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I understand it. I think it is decent as long as the maps are up to date for most types of navigation, but my issue is that I can never get the damn map updates!

      @@RidetheBean Well as much as you travel you are probably confusing the heck out of it🤣. I honestly just need to use it more, like you said. It’s a learning curve that we have to get used to

    • @valjavecmatjaz
      @valjavecmatjaz 2 роки тому +1

      I'm using Zumo XT a lot, it has a lot of settings, even for keyboard size on which Johnatan complains. XT has a "steep learning curve" as any other device from Garmin - but when you get it is very good navigation tool.

    • @RidetheBean
      @RidetheBean  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah if it works. Problem is it only works when it wants to.
      Most of the time It just doesn’t not connect to the computer. So I can’t put any maps or files onto it.
      The device itself is ok. But the software is terrible. Fermin should really work on the User experience 😅

    Just make sure you fold them in before dropping the bike. Itchy Boots broke hers and had to go back to OEM Mirrors that have held up well now.

    • @RidetheBean

      Hehe that’s kind of the reason we got these tho 😅 let’s hope that doesn’t happen

      @@RidetheBean , I believe that the purpose is to remove or fold in before you get into rough terrain.

    Great mirrors, but can be stolen in seconds. Think about getting a screw without the large handle, so you would need tools to take it off.

    Been using these mirrors for about 4 years now and highly recommend them to anyone regardless of if they ride of road or not, less vibration coupled with the larger mirror surface gives much better viewing behind you. Mine only came with one sticker and I lost that, does anyone know if its possible to get spares anywhere?

    Hey Guys
    This was another Big Hit with me
    You Guys complaining about everything that only old guys like me should be doing this.
    And your Spanish Dad talking to Johnathan like he understands Spanish just like My Wife"s Polish Family do when we visit them.
    Give him plenty of Alcohol and they will chat all night :-)
    Mirrors should be more Durable than regular ones .
    Johnathan hopefully gets some decent new rubber for TET riding
    safe and happy travels

    the reason why they have 2 different sizes on the screw is because the right one is mounted linx, so you don't try to screw the wrong screw inn and destroy it. 😛
