I love how their scores of their own pie DIDN'T count towards their overall score. Some people purposely score theirs higher to increase their chances of winning. Maybe have the 3rd score be another neutral judge. I love these videos!
I honestly think they need to have at least four contestants instead of three. Some of the other buzzfeed videos used to feature 4 and the scores seemed a little more fair.
I think she might of followed a recipe from a cookbook or youtube video, and pie looked amazing! I would buy it! I follow many youtube recipes and they are always bomb
@@elizabethn.491 Yeah, but most of them did some ratchet mess like putting sprinkles on a red velvet cake, feeling it w/they hands so they knew it was theirs. They were doing the most. lol
There's no way Ms. Jae has five kids! She just has this super sweet aura about her and it's coming through the screen. My favorite apple pie is Dutch Apple Pie with graham cracker crust, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce on top.
Dani's pie looked amazing especially considering it was the first one she's made! So glad that the scores they gave themselves didn't count towards the overall score. Gotta keep it fair 😊
Glad to see their scores weren’t included in the total for their own pies. They should’ve been blindfolded, I’m pretty sure they all knew which one was theirs considering the tops were all different.
They knew which ones was theirs I'm sure, but none of them have themselves high scores. They all critiqued and scored their pies pretty fairly I believe based off the others scores

This is just my guess but maybe they gave them their own pies first since they wouldn't know the others have different crusts yet. Idk just a thought
I think after that other lady was so adamant about seeing what she was tasting, they changed up how they did a lot. Lol idk just my guess but I like the blindfold
It makes so much more sense when they do the blindfold and fourth person. I really don’t understand why they do it for some videos and not others, it makes no sense.
Yes I’m here for y’all changing it up with not allowing their own score impact they overall score. Cause some of our AUNTIES be lying and giving themselves way more than what it deserves.
Bro at least they weren’t petty asf and constantly throwing shade at eachother. This episode is probably the most wholesome just because of the common decency they had to not just insult people
Before I watched the whole video… and dani said this was her first time making a pie, I was like that would be so funny if she won and she did 🏆🥇good job ❤️
I'm sorry. I can't. Are they really acting like they don't know it's their pie?!!! LMAO Did y'all tell them to do that? They literally made the pies....I'm weak
A Dutch apple pie has a pastry bottom crust, then a filling of apples with a crumb topping. Its still a pie. A British crumble doesn't have a pie pastry bottom. Closest thing we have in the US to that is an apple crisp.
I think a great apple pie starts with homemade crust and 2 different apples. I love mixing granny smith apples and Honeycrisp apples. If you want to stick with one apple for your pie, the best "stand alone" apple is the Johnathan apple or the Jonagold apple. They both have a firm texture and they're just the right blend of sweet and tart. I also make a homemade caramel sauce that I pour over the apples before putting everything in the pie pan.
This is the 1st episode I think that didn’t have a cocky person or overly judgmental during the testing where we knew theirs was going to be disgusting.
I'm from Scotland, I've always wanted to try an American "pie"... Our pies are all meat filled... They all look delicious tbh! I would love to try these beautiful women's baking🥰
I was more confused about why she'd compete with something she's never made before. And then she won, so is she just an excellent baker or do the other two contestants have bad pies...and then, why would they compete? I have questions!
@@KarterMamaidk I feel like store bought pies aren’t good. Even if you didn’t do a good job, there’s just something that tastes fresher and more real with homemade pies
Y’all should do it like four weddings, where they use rankings instead of scores so that there is no bias or low scoring biases. You rank the pies (excluding theirs) first, second, third and then a set number of points is allocated to each ranking.
I’ve had a ton of apple pie and idk if I prefer crisp apples or soft apples because they all cook so different. And the crust is sometimes more important than filling imo.
I like pie with more crust than filling. Nice flakey crust with just enough filling, like how one would fill a cookie. Of course nobody makes pies this way lmao so it's wishful thinking. I always eat the crust and discard the filling. Too much sugar
I like how they were all humble and didn't talk shit. Also did anyone notice the one who had the least experience won and the one who had baked for over 20 came in last.
I use granny Smith apples in my pies, brown sugar and cinnamon. I cook the apples separately and add them in after the crust is half way cooked. Then I put it back in the oven to cook a little more. FYI: I add a half cup of Swans cake flour to my dough which makes the crust light and delicious.
I just love these type of videos. I don't even like apple pie. (I like the syrup and the crust. I pour out the apple bits and someone else usually eats that portion for me)
I came here after seeing the Collard Greens episode, Seen the blindfold which is great move for these types of things, cause its entertaining when those that are over confident talk down their own food. Why not continue to do that? Please bring it back.
The second one was classic but ykw, you can't go wrong with classic. Not one flavor overpowering the others, good flaky looking crust, a pretty, golden lattice design on top. To me that's THE staple food of the Fall season.
How does one apply to be one of these taste testers? Iam a mom and I dont cook often but when I do everyone is always licking their plates clean. I like to eating and trying new spins on classics. I volunteer to do this 👀 bc it’s seems so fun!
