Great solo well done. I’ve always loved this song. Chris lived in Ireland during the 1980s and had a big following here 👍👏👏 it’s such a great bluesy slide tone - thanks for explaining tuning I thought it was in Open G
Hi John, nice lesson from Middlesbrough’s finest. Any chance you could show the solo in standard tuning as I have to play the rhythm part as well. Thanks
It would be pretty difficult, if not impossoble, to play this exact solo in standard tuning. The stumbling block is the double stops on the 1st & 2nd strings. In standard tuning, those notes would be 2 frets apart, which would be impossoble to achieve with the slide.
So this song is about being stuck on a freeway. that's what wiki says. From the lyrics and knowing he's from Middlesbrough, it could just as easily be about the River Tees massive pollution back in the day and the greed that caused it. Like your slide work John!
John, love your videos and playing, now you have mentioned Middlesbrough how about music from my favourite singer Paul Rodgers and especially Paul Kossoff, I'm of the vintage of loving the music of Free, keep up the good work buddy and cheerio from Glasgow.
First class and much appreciated👍
Absolutely love this song!

Love a knickerbocker glory (despite the diabetes). I have one about every 6 years!

Got some Kossoff in the pipeline 👍
@@JRobsonGuitar brilliant John, looking forward to it already, take care buddy.
Great slide performance John. What amp setting are you using?
From Germany with best regards
Cheers mate. I was using the "Jump" amp setting in Guitar Rig with a tube screamer emulation placed in front of it. A little delay & reverb too 👍
Nardinis in Largs, mind you guts of £7.
I dug the song until I dissected the lyrics. Let's just say the song is less of a song and more of a documentary. I deleted it from my library.
