- The attacks on merchant shipping in the Red Sea by the Houthi from Yemen and the recent capture of the MSC Aries by Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz has significantly increased the dangers faced by merchant seafarers whose ships transit those areas.
Chief MAKOi
Seaman Vlog
You are a good man, Chief. It's good to know there are officers and higher ups who care about their workers.
Shipmates.
I think his point was higher upside don't care that it's up to the individual and only skilled officers have much in the way of real choice for a number of disgusting reasons ie lack of money.
Chief-I wish more folks were standing up for these abandoned crew members.
EXCELLENT video, Chief !!!!! Prayers for the SAFETY & WELL BEING for ALL that work the sea .........
all WHO work the sea.....
@@stevetaylor8298 I stand corrected ..... 👌👍
Good honest video. It's time our Governments stood up and provide proper protection and shame on the companies that still send vessels into hazard zones.
Our governments are weak and ineffectual. They'd rather sacrifice these Mariners rather than be perceived as a "Bully" on the international scene. 200 years ago, the Barbary Pirates found out differently and that region is still safe to travel in. If you give in to piracy, you loose!
Someone could probably make a UA-cam channel about times when shipping companies were accused of putting profits above safety!
No money
Thank you for bringing the plight of the crew members being held hostage to the fore. Also, your plain spoken and heartfelt explanation of this whole subject is greatly appreciated.
As a Navy Sailor on a destroyer I never had any concerns with where we sailed. But as a civilian on a merchant, that would be a whole different situation.
That's what the USS Cole sailors thought when they were docked in Aden.
@@skyh Pierside is different than being underway. And I was a .50 gunner when we pulled into or out of port.
Wouldn't that crete extra homosexual rights ?
Chances are their not illegal mexicans !
If you are sailing on u.s. ship, this will change dramatically in near future.
Most nations dont want to be "freed" and plundered.
They will do everything they can to sink their so called "liberators".
Do you have any ideal of the capabilities of the US Navy. There is not a country or group of countries in the Middle East that can destroy ONE carrier group.
Well said Chief !! Prayers to all Seafarers.
Chief MAKOi is a real one. Much respect to you brother man. The world could use many more like you my friend.
Chief, you have all my respect for speaking on behalf of the seafarers who are not in a position to speak for themselves.
Wise words Chief. I'm 70, but to put things in terms young men will understand: Real life is like a video game in that the main thing is to stay alive. In a game, stay alive and the points will come. In real life, stay alive and money, family, and excitement will come. Stay alive.
Thanks Chief. Great insight. Spread the word
Thanks for presenting the impact on seafarers, and the hostages in particular. This is an angle that a lot of the media may briefly mention and then go back to the 'biggeg picture' of the geopolitical and military situations.
Thx!
All Respect Chief.
Honest Open and Straight forward discussion of how things really are onboard Thank You Chief
Very well said, Chief. If more or even all ship owners would reroute around South Africa it would send a message to those idiots. Not only that but Egypt would lose a vast amount of money and perhaps they could put some pressure on the Huthis and Iran.
Chief, stay safe.
Stay vigilant Chief, thanks for the upload!
Chief, you are the man! It is awesome to see the leadership that you display.
Well said. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Good job Chief. We need to keep this in the top of the news. We must not forget those in danger.
WELL DONE CHIEF,,SAFE TRAVELS..
CHIEF YOU ARE SUCH A HONEST MAN!!!...NO BS 😮😮I RESPEC YOU AND YOUR OPINIONS...❤❤
Thanks for your insight, Chief. The footage of people boarding the captured vessel for pictures is unbelievable. I'm happy you have the ability to deny a hazardous deployment but also feel for the new guys who feel they have to go no matter the situation to have a viable career.
Stay safe Chief.
I'm very happy to see more output from you, Chief. I hope you remain interested enough in doing it for it to continue.
Please keep bringing up the plight of the Mariners. Being an economic "hostage," fearing loss of future contracts, is an untenable position. As you pointed out: it is gambling with their lives.
Thanks Donald!
Chief may our Prayers be with all Sea Merchants for safe travel
Thank you Chief for another excellent video. You have presented the situation in the Red Sea very well. I have been wondering how the crews are dealing with having to sail through the war zone and the impact it has on individuals. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Good for you Chief, showing more concern than the Spineless politicians !
Total respect for you and your decision.
Thanks for the reminder that our food & supplies don't magically arrive on store shelves. Stay safe out there.
Thank you Chief for your valuable insight.
Tank you Chief. Well, done and thanks for the information.
My respect Chief. An excellent video.
Thanks Chief. Stay safe.
Really appreciate your integrity, chief.. We are all civilians..
Thank you again Chief - Powerful and important messages.
Straight talk from the engineer always welcome on my ship chief.well said!
"Life is full of Possibilities" Damn fine video.
I didn't even know about this. Why isn't the US news network reporting this. This is horrifying and should have a lot more attention. Thank you chief for exposing me to this true horror.
Our government is kissing the ass of both sides in the protesters.
When the governing party controls the media, you only hear what they want you to hear.
God bless you and all the other seafarers for what you sacrifice for all of us🙏
You care, Chief. It seems that your company does, too. When all shipping avoids the Med and the Suez, maybe this might come to an end. God bless all seafarers. Puso Pilipinas!!!!
thank you so much for posting these super-relevant and super important videos Chief!
I sure hope these sailors are totally compensated for their and their family's suffering.
Prayers to you Chief and all seafarers. I like your videos
Thanks for the Intelligent commentary Chief.
It's a great pleasure to see that situation from your point of view, Chief.
Thanks for your comments. Sometimes we can forget about people who are hostages for months and months and the media doesn't seem to think this is worth reporting. Keep up the good work.
If the seafarers worked for the NY Times, Washington Post, CNN, London Times, BBC, CBC the media would find it worth reporting. Daily at first, then weekly.
Sad sailers are going through these issues. Thanks for informing. What a complex world? Many at USPS have to work on Sunday because threat from Amazon to renegotiate contract if we/carriers hold them to Monday for delivery. Working six days and Sunday and as well as last Easter Sunday. Crazy hijackings of all types
Thanks redzzon.
🙏🙏 BLESSINGS TO ALL
YOU SEAFARERS 🙏🙏
THANK YOU CHIEF❤
I absolutely love all of my Philippine customers. I don't know how I got into providing musical instrument repairs for Philippine musicians that work on cruise lines when I am 500 miles inland, except that I know how to marinize stuff so it survives better in a salt water environment. These Philippine musicians are some of the finest musicians on the planet too. It started out with one Roland electronic accordion repair. Dang those Philippinos are on a whole other level of musicianship.
much appreciated.
"Life's full of possibilities" I'll listen to it specially. Be safe people. Thank you Chief🙏🏻
Kudos to your Company and the others who care about their crews!!
You have such a big ❤ and a very good moral code. Many thanks for everything that you do and say. 🤗
Excellent video, Chief. Keep speaking truth to power!
Well said Chief and great entertainment.
Good content, Chief!!
While I can't claim to speak for anyone else, I'm quite sure most of us wish for every mariner's safety.
Great man, Take care!!❤❤❤
WOW..... great Info Chief
Good insight Chief. Yes, all seafarers are entitled to a care of duty. You are Merchant Seamen, not mercenaries!
As for Iran/Houthis, what the hell are they doing turning the Galaxy Leader into a 'tourist' attraction? 🤔👍🇬🇧💯🙏
Chief, the more seafarers that support the small companies that support and care for their crews, the more popular looking after their crews will become. But, one hopes that when the small companies become bigger with this support, let’s hope that they will still look after their crews !!
ahhhh i miss this one but why companies gotta be like that 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Absolutely correct, Chief.
All your points are Absolutely correct.
Thank you Chief.
Well said, Chief, you must be a hero among Filipinos and among all seafarers for that matter!
Outstanding episode and very important topic...
Well said Chief.
Very well said Chief 👍
as always, much deep wisdom in your words...thanks!
Very succinct , balanced, ....etc. How about some more vacation / feasting / vidseo around your home town in the Phillipines?!
Fantastic, thank you.
Well done Chief. You explained the situation remarkably well !! When I was a lad I was working on a Swedish cargo liner that stoped in Aden to bunker. We went ashore and had a good time buying duty free items and having a few pints. Keep up the good work !!
Aden not controlled by the Houthis.
I enjoy your honest evaluation Chief. Some things you point out are not common knowledge to non-sailors. Keep up the great work.
Yet another brilliant analysis of the current situation with regard to the Red Sea, thank you so informative for us non seafarers.
The Phillipino perspective that you provide is so valuable. You and your fellow sailors are so often simply not in the picture, and that is deeply wrong. You should not be expected to risk your life because I want cheap and fast imports from Asia.
You work for a good company... This isn't the first time you've had a situation where your company took the high road and thought first about the crew....
Great video. Just passed through Rea sea last December. Clearly remember the frustrating situation. Nothing can do but pray to God not to have such attacks.
Chief, I love the Nuka Cola accessory in your office. Thanks for another great video.
excellent again thank you!
This is the first true information for what's going on with those that crew. Hope all is well in your port ~
great job sir. you bring to life an industry very few know exists, or understand.
Very wise Chief Makoi.
I hope this is a direct message to all the large shipping companies...
Excellent - thank you!
Back To Back Videos Makes For A Good Weekend
I'm waiting brother from the imperial county California 🇺🇲👍
The reason why some companies don’t want to sail through the Red Sea probably has more to do with war insurance for the ship and not the safety of the crew. Back in the days when the situation in the Arabian Gulf was at its worst ships had to report when they passed the line 24 degrees north and the 26 degrees north inbound. This was because of the insurance increased at those positions. During the war in Kuwait sailors in the beginning of the war only got war bonus if the vessel was in Iraqi waters. Basically in an area where there is mostly to shallow water for larger vessels to go. As for the previous attacks in the gulf of Aden and far out into the Indian Ocean it is ironic that even though lots of nations were patrolling the area little or nothing happened to the pirates if they were caught. Most of the time they were disarmed and then left loose. If a ship on the other hand pumps out as little as one liter of oil in the same area and they are discovered, all hell will break loose. It seems like sailors at all times have been expandable. Prior the pirates in this area were mostly in it for profit. The new thing now is that the attacks seems to be politically motivated.
Thanks for the update.
Even if escorted by multiple Arleigh Burkes, one cannot _guarantee_ safety. Thank you for this video.
Chef that's great. Thank you for telling life as it is, thinks most people don't know, thanks
well spoken chief god bless you all
Prayers for this crew!
Chief: the ship won't sail......I can fix your tub.
Well said Chief
Great video thanks.
Thank you for summarizing the situation.
Thanks chief sailor life was so difficult,, were passing in red sea yemen gulf ,, whats wrong with people like that ,, thanks for your initial info sir
Outstanding video, Chief.
Mark you should get InTouch with Sal Mercogliano, "What's going on in shipping" he may be interested in your views on what the crew is up against on board while they clear Baltimore bridge.
Well said.
Coupl'a .50s would be nice, even a Barrett or two with multipurpose rounds. That wouldn't work on missiles though.
Should of suggested a Phalanx
