In a move to foster entrepreneurship and attract foreign investment, Spain introduced the Digital Nomad Visa in January 2023 as part of the Startup Act, a comprehensive initiative aimed at bolstering Spain's economic landscape.
This groundbreaking visa program enables non-EU/EEA remote workers and freelancers to reside and work in Spain for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for up to five years.
To qualify for the Digital Nomad Visa, applicants must demonstrate a stable employment contract, authorization from their company to work remotely in Spain, and a company with at least one year of operations. Unlike other Digital Nomad Visa programs, Spain allows freelancers to derive up to 20% of their income from Spanish clients.
Successful applicants gain access to a Spanish residency permit, allowing them to travel throughout the European Union. Additionally, most visa holders become tax residents, unlocking the benefits of a special reduced tax rate of 24% on income up to €600,000 per annum*
Spain further enhances its appeal with its extensive network of double taxation agreements, covering 90 countries worldwide.
Spain's allure for digital nomads has long been established, thanks to its captivating climate, vibrant cities, affordable living costs, and reliable internet infrastructure. This unique combination has drawn the attention of many Filipinos seeking to experience the nomadic lifestyle in Spain.
However, navigating the application process and understanding the associated benefits can be daunting.
To address this gap, Marina Henestrosa from bureaucracy.es joins us in an informative video, providing a comprehensive overview of Spain's Digital Nomad Visa tailored to Filipino remote workers.
Marina delves into the intricacies of the visa application process, eligibility requirements, and the myriad advantages of establishing oneself as a digital nomad in Spain. This video serves as an invaluable resource for aspiring Filipino nomads seeking to embark on their Spanish adventure.

06:19 Applying inside Spain Vs Applying Outside of Spain
10:21 How can they find out if they are eligible for this Visa
▶️ Advantage of Spain digital nomad visa for Filipinos:
    • Social Security bilateral agreement between the Philippines and Spain
    • There is a treaty between Spain and the Philippines regarding the driver's license
    • Getting the Spanish citizenship after 2 years
▶️ Disadvantages of Spain digital nomad visa for Filipinos:
    • If you want to apply directly for Spain you need to apply first for a tourist Schengen visa and it must last at least 30 calendar days or have multiple entries in Europe.
    • Need social security certificate
As a result of the digital nomad visa, Filipinos can work remotely from Spain on their laptops and still experience what it is like to reside there. In addition, the visa offers an excellent means for Spain to attract international talents to drive digital entrepreneurship.

Hola Bea. Gracias for this info. If you went on a student visa to Spain (then became a resident there) since being a student does not count into citizenship, can you convert a student to a digital nomad visa while inside Spain to get fast track citizenship? Gracias!

I loved this video! I am assuming that it is a similar situation for Mexican citizens? As it was once a territory of Spain? I am becoming a dual citizen (USA/MEXICO) and have scheduled a meeting with Marina to further discuss. Thank you for this informative video.

    • @EverythingIsBoffo

With the dnv you will be required to purchase private Health insurance. If you have questions about it, we highly recommend checking out Innoinsure. They are the licensed offices for DKV and Asisa. They are highly rated, they meet all the requirements for Spanish visas, they speak english and most importantly, they have helped a lot of people that we’ve referred. @@ItsStrawberryShortCake your passive income should be the 2024 iPrem x4 for yourself, and each additional is iPrem x 1. So if the iPrem is 7200€ then for all for of you it’s 7200€ x 7= 50,400€ for the year. Monthly you should have passive income of 4,200€
