The one thing I would consider changing are the headings on the curtains. I know grommet curtains slide easily but they don’t suit the style you have going here. If you want them to still slide easily, change them to just a hem heading and use the metal rings that have a clothes pin type clip attached. They’ll still slide easily to open and shut. You can hide the clip portion by attaching them lower down below the hemmed heading at the curtain back. I don’t know if you can remake what you have, depending if there’s extra fabric in the bottom hem. And they won’t protrude as much into the room if you add more of the rings. I sew, so it’s a thing for me lol. I can’t unsee it.
Yeah we discussed going non-grommet, but in the end, we really like the ease of these, since they are constantly being opened and closed. I think the alternative down the line, if we want a change up would be a french pleat.
Thank you. I was SO STOKED when I saw that painting available. It was just what I had been looking for. It was far more affordable because it wasn't signed by anyone, but for me, it is really about the spirit of the painting. It's so peaceful.
Yeah, it's really important to make sure it's functional. We finally started to cook for the first time in the house, so it was neat to use the induction stove and get a feel for that.
Umm... I thought it was gonna be a nursery for the super baby! Lol, I'm sure you both could use the help! Lol Both of your designs come together so well.. I love the art..very tasteful. Thanks for inviting us along
I like that idea of using the mirror to cover the fuse box. With everything so nicely done in the cottage, it would be nice to cover it. It really made a difference when you placed the mirror over it. Yes...to the ceiling fan. That's a nice one and it's good to have circulation in the summer, and use it to push down the heat in the winter. Love the rain chains, too! You both have a good eye for details and the changes made were good choices. Do you have a TV somewhere? Maybe hidden in the cupboard... Merry Christmas to you, Summer and Sander! You both did very well this year. 😄 🎄🎄
I agree. I think the mirror on the wall makes a huge difference, so if there is something we can do, then we will. And no TV in the space. We made the executive decision to keep it out of the house, but folks can always watch whatever on their computer if they get a hankering. I never really grew up with a TV either, so it feels out of place for me too. Happiest of Holidays.
I agree about the TV. I’m 68, we raised our children without a TV and no computers back then for most of their childhoods. One of the best decisions we ever made. Our house was always so peaceful and everyone became great readers and quite creative, spending lots and lots of time outdoors. 🌿 Btw, I’m really enjoying this series, it speaks to my heart in so many ways.
We have strong magnets on the back ( use a strong glue of choice to adhere the magnets to the frame) of our family photo. It has worked since 2014. Comes off easy and goes back up just as easy. Take care and Merry Christmas!
Seeing these 😮 lights reminded me I had my step-mother’s Capiz Shell lamp. Retrieved it from attic storage, now hanging over my kitchen table. It fits so well with our sage color kitchen. I love the neutral environmental atmosphere of the meadow house.
They were really popular I think in the 60s, but these are so elegant yet still boho. I couldn't think of the name 'capiz' when doing to the tour, so thank you. I ended up buying some secondhand Capiz shell bowls, which are delicate and more yellow in color, but are still so beautiful. Probably best for trinket dishes, but I have them in the kitchen.
Ahhh, glad you found it and are getting to enjoy it again! I had gotten a capiz shell lampshade for the floor lamp too, but it ended up being too small, so now I have an extra one for someplace else in the future. But I love how these are shaped. Elegant but still has a boho feel.
Beautiful! I have very low ceilings, living in a manufactured home in the middle of renovations. I end up buying two ceiling fans where the blades go around that is so low that even my Shorty self feels very uncomfortable with the situation. After viewing your video, I was interested if you could, please share the model information for the ceiling fan you purchased?
just rebuilt a cottage post house fire and i asked my electrician about covering the box. he said it had to be easily accessible. hanging something over (in ohio) that can easily removed is ok. not sure about hinging it tho if it was ok, id think the hinge would need to be on the same side as the panel box hinges....IMHO !
Love the rain chains. Took us 4yrs to install 4 drop fans. Much needed but kept going down the priority li$t. Next long awaited are doors. We've finally settled on sliding! Vs typical hinge (doors are not prehung, which was holding us back, not being skilled).
We love watching the water down the rainchains. We had a big rain the other day, so the water looks like its truly excited as it's going down the chutes. And believe me, lots of other projects got punted and depriortized through this whole process, so I feel ya!
Are those paintings originals??? They look like paintings that would be in the museum where I used to work. I'm impressed you were able to source pieces like that. Also the rain chains are gorgeous, where did you get them from? Might shop around myself :)
Yes, the paintings are original. You can get original oil paintings often for a steal, especially if they are unsigned. A couple of the pieces I just sourced locally from auctions, so they were probably painted by a local person. Copper rain chains were from Stanwood.
Wonderfully decorated and I really like the lights, paintings, etc. The rain chains are also wonderful. I'm just wondering about the bowls at the bottom being copper. If the birds did start drinking from them, would it be safe for them? Copper is a trace mineral, meaning only a tiny amount is needed, and too much can cause problems. I don't know how it is for birds, but I am sure it is no different. Just sharing a thought.
Here's an interesting report: "Mammals and birds are at least 100 times (and up to 1000x) more resistant to copper than other organisms, but ruminant mammals are significantly more sensitive to copper than non-ruminant animals and poultry." Eisler, R., 1998. Copper hazards to fish, wildlife, and invertebrates: A synoptic review(No. USGS/BRD/BSR--1997-0002). GEOLOGICAL SURVEY WASHINGTON DC. (www.pebblescience.org/OLD-SITE/pdfs/CHR_33_Copper.pdf)
We are leaving them up in winter. Sometimes the water can freeze in them, but doesn't seem to bother them. It's fun to watch the ice melt and the water drip out slowly.
This used to be an old nursery office. There was an initial consideration of putting the bedroom towards the other side of the house, but there is a door there as well and that wall is where all the plumbing is too, so it wouldn't have made sense to put it there. We considered building another wall or pull wall to close off the bedroom, but that really closes the space off, making it feel small-and we preferred the open concept, especially because this is more for 1 or 2 people. Having stayed down there, it doesn't feel weird for us, but can see how it would feel uncomfy to others. Befores/afters here: ua-cam.com/video/XeTJmuLMwOk/v-deo.html
I got it from Sundance a while back, so I'm not sure it's still available bc they change styles so often. You can check though to see if they have a newer, updated version.
We now have a Meadow House Design & Layout downloadable document, which you can find here: bit.ly/3vRQszE

I love the rain chain with a bowl for the birds, cats, deer, rabbits etc
I love the interior design and colors of this cottage!
Thank you!
Thank you Ms. Summer and Sander I really like the changes and that mirror would be perfect over the electrical panel box. 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄💚🙃
Love, love, love the rain chains with water bowl.
They've been a lovely touch. Fun to watch the water. Thank you.
I completely understand. Things should look nice and have functional needs. Love the vintage foraging picture and the rain chains! ❤ 🪴
Thank you. I was SO STOKED when I saw that painting available. It was just what I had been looking for. It was far more affordable because it wasn't signed by anyone, but for me, it is really about the spirit of the painting. It's so peaceful.
I love that you always choose real art. It makes such a difference
Love it when it makes sense. Sometimes you can only get high quality prints though.
I love the rain chains. When it rains really hard and the bowl overfills, do you have trenching under the ground to direct water away from the house?
I think it’s awesome you live in the house you design that is so smart because design sometimes clashes with functional living , I love this cottage
Yeah, it's really important to make sure it's functional. We finally started to cook for the first time in the house, so it was neat to use the induction stove and get a feel for that.
That pottery light, now in the kitchen, looks fantastic.
Yes, we think it's more complimentary since we have so many clay and ceramic bowls and cups in the kitchen. Feels more fitting. Thank you.
I’ve been looking for a cottage Reno channel with a little cottage like mine and I think I’ve finally found it.😊
Glad this can be useful. We'll be doing more renovations soon to other buildings.
Umm... I thought it was gonna be a nursery for the super baby! Lol, I'm sure you both could use the help! Lol
Both of your designs come together so well.. I love the art..very tasteful.
Thanks for inviting us along
The mirror is perfect for the electrical panel!! I have a piece of art covering my panel.
Summer Rayne, it just keeps getting better and better!

Nice cultural touches to match Kippie's flair and style.
It's all about the buhrd ;)
Totally agree with you .. there is a lot of difference in design compatibility when we really go to stay there
Looks very nice. I have not watched in a while as have been very busy on my own home. Nice to see what you have done.
Love the Capiz Shell Lights from the Philippines. ❤❤❤

Yeah you're probably right. Guess it matters how far it hinges open. We don't want to do anything until it passes electrical inspection haha.
Love the artwork too!
Thanks!
This was an unexpected surprise!❤

Love the rain chains.

I knew those lights looked familiar….❤❤❤
capiz shells, if that's what your'e referering to :)

Capiz shell ceiling lights. Nice.
Yes, couldn't think of the name when giving the tour. Thank you.
Please list the paint colors......it turned out so nice. Thanks
Can we get a plant tour for this house?! The lighting looks low which I have.
Do you take down the rain chains when the snow comes or can they be left up year 'round?
They are beautiful.
We are leaving them up in winter. Sometimes the water can freeze in them, but doesn't seem to bother them. It's fun to watch the ice melt and the water drip out slowly.
Where did you get the copper light fixtures?
I agree with the lighting and fan decisions. I am now looking for a hugger fan for our tiny apartment. Can you give the make and model of yours?
It is the CRAFTMADE Tempo hugger fan: amzn.to/3TsZ6yt
very nice :)
Did you buy the wall sconce by the front door new? If so, do you mind sharing where you got it?
yes, if you mean the one in the interior space, it's Inscape Design & Lighting.
i don't like sleeping in the front of the house, and the front door being a few feet from the bed seems very uncomfortable and odd to me.

Enjoyed. Love your jacket-is it available?

Like it all 👍
Thank you.
It's the little things.........
