Tip for the Shockwave device: Don't *FULLY* charge it when you're taking down an APU as a slight charge or tap would be enough to one shot them. Another tip for the Shockwave Device/Rocket Stormer/RPG: There's another weakness spot of the Tank which is the top of the turret, you can aim at it (or Time R.S' rockets) for a cheeky shot, this works well if you have the Jump Kit (Shift to Hover) or map with tall buildings (E.G: Coastal, Urban) Or any environment of the map that has high points (EG: Dune) Tip for using the shield: It's best to not upgrade it and stick to the non-upgraded version, do note that the Tank's shot are *EXPLOSIVES* meaning you should stay away from your shield when a Tank spawns in, as it's a good bait for them if it's placed just behind a environment (especially in Archipelago) that can be still detected by the tank and shoot at it, this makes them busy and make your teammates take it out with ease. Oh and if you have spare reserves, get Lifeline device, it should allow you to stay on the same spot where your Govenor is but if you're using MADS Kit then it's best to get the other upgrade to keep yourself in the move alongside with Proxy Upgrade for the Ammo Box ---- The rest of the upgrades are up to you and see which of it goes with your play-style, for me personally, I'd go with stock shotgun and machete, Govenor Kit, Combat Tool Kit, Shockwave Device and Terminal Velocity (to take out Platformers and Tanks if your teammates are too busy dealing with something else)
@@thereal21roads don’t think so, you have to use the ammo box to heal it, but that’s just me, feel free to test it out fr Lifeline is just there to camp on the same spot where your governor is because you really can’t heal with the turret nor get that much action with your shotgun
I started playing engineer more as a specialist main, since I only really played as combat engi. I fixed a lot of my newbie mistakes very quickly, so here are some tips I picked up about defensive engi. As someone in a casual lobby I found put it: sitting behind your sentry with a barrier isn't defensive engi. that's +2 manpower. It really makes sense, that turtle style is just gonna get your stuff destroyed. You should first understand the defensive engi's main loadout, though. That is PROXY, Hallsweeper, Torque Blade, Shockwave Device, Governor kit, and stonehedge. You should be using PROXY to move your sentry out of dangerous spots. If there's a sabo that saps your sentry, quickly remove it and then pack the sentry. It's good to keep it out of danger after it's exposed to saboteurs. The stonehedge/barrier is NOT a tool for camping. It should be packed most of the time and used when there's a huge wave moving in and you need to aid your sentry. Once the threat is removed, it's safe to pack it up pardner. Stay a safe distance away from your sentry, (this is why you shouldn't place the barrier right next to the sentry) so that you can maximize crowd control with your shotgun. In short, play engineer like you would in TF2. Don't hide behind your sentry gun, patrol the area around it and pack it up during imminent danger. Feel free to eliminate gunners or snipers that are closing you off by wrangling the gun, too. Wrangling your sentry is a little buggy though, so just figure out when it works and when it doesn't. Also, all the defensive engi tools aren't required to play defensively. You can mix and match them, I just like to play DvN the intended way since it's clearly balanced to have 12 technical premade loadouts. *Am I Uncle Dane?*
The Wave 8 Mechanized Meatstorm Incident: Almost all of Stronghold 5-5 were pinned down. Many of them had no ammo or charges for their revives. There were reported to be about 20 tanks at the start of Subwave 3. All units managed to make it to Wave 9 soon afterwards after 40 minutes of pure mechanical carnage.
It's hard to make use of the stonehedge kit if you're in a situation (or a gamemode) where you need to constantly be on the move. Also the hallucinator can be amazing to get a revive opportunity or just help people escape. Imagine this situation: A teamate is stuck in a corridor, with swarms of shielders and cloakers coming both ways (like an average mastermind round lol). The hallucinator can then be thrown nearby to give the teamate an opportunity to kill them or get out. The stonehedge would be too slow in this situation, even while mounted. I agree that the stonehedge helps for the more general situations, but I'd say the hallucinator kit is better if you prefer helping during more niche and critical situations.
Barriers in general shouldn't just be placed right next to your gun to prevent chip damage. It should be used when you're far away from your gun and you need a good backup plan. I agree with the "constantly on the move" thing, but my 2 favorite modes are siege and attrition + I'd rather lobotomize myself with a screw driver than play mastermind so I usually leave a lobby that's gonna obsess over MM.

Not alot of people know this but RPG and Rocket Stormer rockets only affect the gas canisters and the cannon part of the tank (does not apply on shockwave you can literally hit any part of the platform and tank).
It's not one of the best upgrade to get for defensive engineer but for aggressive engi? Yeah maybe, but I think having the barrier to block bullets is better
@@tuandat08 I mean, spamming mads and hallucinators is one of the best way to play engi, due to how often your pdcs/govs are getting sapped, and hallucinators are super useful for making shielders turn around + running away when mechs are coming
@@tuandat08 You forgot that the role of an Engi is to support your team, not to be a powerhouse like Assault. The hallucinator is an amazing distracter, it can literally disable snipers if you throw it behind a cover (the snipers will target the hallucinator but can't shoot because it's blocked so they will just camp) so meanwhile they're stuck in that state, you can go close and personal with them with that melee. The hallucinator also distract platformers, so if you keep spamming it your team will almost never get arti raining down on them. This comes with the cost of you wasting somewhat ammo, but hey, what is that combat toolkit and 50% cheaper ammo price passive for? And by the way, Stonehedge sucks.
Bro hallucinator is good what are u talking about It easily allows you to funnel bosses and distract them for revives It can be used to lure rangers into exploding, and can distract tanks, snipers, APUs and even cloakers U just need to be tactical when using it tho but it is absolutely a life saver
Combat toolkit is for battle engineer, since it doubles your effective ammo allowing you to spam more MADS. PROXY is best for moving your gun out of danger, and most engineers who mix and match combat toolkit + gov are just turtle engis who die on wave 7.
Stonehedge Normal Sentry I normally offer myself as spawn protection , since of course. CANT have a cloaker or a shielder in spawn right? Even if it’s just for defense , it does SERIOUS damage , especially when stonehedge is controlled manually.

Actually Hallucinator Kit isnt that bad when you are _not_ engineer because when you are stuck on somewhere and if enemies coming it can distract enemies (even distracts the bosses but doesnt stands so long against bosses) and you can escape. And dont use hallucinator kit against Sparta because hallucinator kit is counts as dummy and Sparta gets HP.
Edit: Im level 61 in the game and i almost know everything in the game. If you have any questions about game, tell me.
I mean yeah the Hallu kit is isn't that bad, but if Ur not engineer (even Agro Engi) then you should avoid using it as having barrier is better for blocking bullets and stuff, after you cleared them you can pack up again, also you can save 8 R for smth like Medkit as a Battle Engi (Agro Engi)
The Hallu kit could've been better imo
@@tuandat08ngl hallu is OP if you have enough ammo i once was able to save my teammate from dying to prom
I once see someone bait noobs to their turret by hallu kit. Tbh it work pretty well but I like Stonehenge more because I like playing defense
what the hell is "the handyman" that was in 1.8 update logs
*Cloaker charges*
Turret: Dodge this you casual
Tip for atrition. Spend all your ammo on charges for proxy than use the refill ammo upgrade to get it back
Wait a second, if Stonehenge gives you 80% defense buff. If I mix it with the rallying cry that gives me passive 20% defense…100% defense is real.
Assault + Rallying cry (with ability on) + Stonehenge = massive defense
It doesn't work that way though.
@@tuandat08assault + rally ability is already 375 hp lol (gunner gaming?)

why is engineer good though? ive never used it but from this gameplay it doesnt really look that good
@@toiletskibidi-e7d well.. Its depend on type of player you are. But i like engineer bcs it got to stay away from action while letting my turret does the work. And just like supporting my teammate. So if you like the type to stay away from head on combat. Engineer is for you
Its also godly at dealing damage.one of upgrade make it a killing machine for puny infantry or shielder. Other one is good for.. Idk? Just emergency damage i suppose
Not alot of people know this but RPG and Rocket Stormer rockets only affect the gas canisters and the cannon part of the tank (does not apply on shockwave you can literally hit any part of the platform and tank).
Yes ik about the hitbox part, that's why I tried to shoot the gas tank (impossible) but I didn't know about the cannon hitbox tho. Thanks for the tip!
@@tuandat08 np man
Nope. The gas tank is a terrible idea
Just avoid shoot in front of it and it will go down
Thats a cap. Just dont shoot the front armor plate on the hull and turret and its gon hit
Only hit it's wheels when in doubt. Some parts of the tank deflects your rockets on it when you are going Rocket Stormer or RPG
One more thing
Combat tool can heal every deploy unit (even barrier) but doing this cost a 1 box of ammo
that was said already
This is perfect for those who are lazy killing infantry and clocker and also shielder
“Man gotta say that Sprinter’s killstreak and MADS kit are my savior, they litterally make me clutch the entire wave 7.”

Not fully clutch, my medic keep boosting me so I run even faster with sprinter's killstreak and vitabow's boost
I was trying to upgrade my sentry and barrier on intermission when suddenly my teammates pressed skip 💀, and i got crash landed by an APU 😭

Thank for the guide. Time for me to be the TF2 Engineer to DVN Engineer
i use hallucinator all the time and its so good if you need distractions
Manually controlling gov is pretty good against bosses
hallucinator is great.
wdym by it suck?
it is very useful when running away
and also very useful for luring/tanking bosses' attack
@@tuandat08 Goodluck having your barrier blocking explosions too. I assure you that they won't last long.
uncle dance but from dummies vs noobs
Bro hallucinator is good what are u talking about
It easily allows you to funnel bosses and distract them for revives
It can be used to lure rangers into exploding, and can distract tanks, snipers, APUs and even cloakers
U just need to be tactical when using it tho but it is absolutely a life saver
as an battle engineer enjoyer who use mads sprinter streak AND HALLUCINATOR im offended
Your english is not the best but your content is amazing, keep up the good work!

You cannot equip anything while you're mounting the Stonehenge

dude using LAPTOP:💀
choice of true engie - Combat Toolkit
Combat toolkit is for battle engineer, since it doubles your effective ammo allowing you to spam more MADS. PROXY is best for moving your gun out of danger, and most engineers who mix and match combat toolkit + gov are just turtle engis who die on wave 7.

Anyone ever soloed ares with engineer?
I did it way too much but i use the same items
Soo tell me your engi build in epi
I never use Engi in Epilogue
Stonehedge
Normal Sentry
I normally offer myself as spawn protection , since of course. CANT have a cloaker or a shielder in spawn right?
Even if it’s just for defense , it does SERIOUS damage , especially when stonehedge is controlled manually.
As someone who has played hell mode the hallucinator is better in hell mode.
Halu is goated. It worked really well during my coastal maso solo match
@@makattack7586 I know people say it sucks when it’s basically a better whistle since it can effect bosses.

Homeboy, if you're doing a guide you need to show everything. Don't keep the complaining about it taking forever in your text- it gets annoying quick. Adding up, the "actually I don't have a clip" bit with Stonehenge was... Something. If you don't want to include a clip, don't include the clip.
Also, the upgrades, if You're talking about things, keep the same amount of talking consistent. At least give descriptions or opinions about items. And for anything you just skip over, I'd recommend at least showing the data for it, and then doing the funny "This item sucks" meme.
I just saw this video, and i see the upload was a while ago, so i hope You've improved on this stuff, but it's just some things i came across, other than all that, decent video
