Hey, I've been a big fan since day one of your channel. I would like to hopefully see your ideas on creating a downtown area contains Dept. 56 shops, businesses, etc and to include your curved walls from your halloween streets. I wait patiently for each video to be released and am lucky enough o be following along some of your guides with the same tools. Looking forward to the next video already.
Hi, I love your videos. I've been doing layouts for Christmas Villages for 40 years now, but have learned a lot from you. I am wondering though, why you don't put the street lights on the wall instead of the sidewalk. I think the lamps are too short in relation to the people, so that would add a little height on them in relation to the sidewalk people, and would keep the sidewalks clear for people's safety (haha). Or make the sidewalk slightly wider with a curb and put them there, just a thought. Thanks so much for all your efforts trying to help us be more successful in having displays that are beautiful and realistic. It is a great hobby,
big fan i just done my path and polyfilla around to look snow . Sorry i am copying . Just painting white going wait over night to dry and got my glue and snow Thank you u give so many ideas
How wide and deep of a space are you working with I have around 14 Lemax houses and a 5 foot by 30” space and it’s a struggle cuz I’m new and never done this any advice ? Ps I told my husband I think I need more real estate ( table space ) 🙈
I do a lot of smaller vignettes and place them around the house! My largest space is the hutch in the dining room where I had my Manor Row and now my Christmas Lane display.
@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl thanks I noticed in one of your videos you used a chopsaw to cut the board do you know if this will work on the 4 x 8 sheets that you get from Home Depot or is it only for the pink stuff and the green stuff i’m looking for the best way to get a clean edge on the sides and the back to but it up against a wall if that makes sense ? I don’t have the hot wire cutting table
Hmmm…not sure. I don’t ever remember using a chop saw-weird. Hot tools aI would be my recommendation for cutting large sections of foam, but if you use a really sharp blade, it would likely work as well.
@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl lol I swear I thought you were in the garage using one maybe not though …glad to report we did it with a saws all … not too terrible
So Carl the side walk and curb from the 2ftx2ft purple foam. What size is the side walk in width. Is the foam base that is white and 4ftx8ft is that 2inches in depth or 3?
Hi Carl, I am now understanding and seeing how manor row and Christmas lane platforms come together. Yet, I still have questions. I heard you say the base dimensions but How Wide is the 8 foot long platform the houses sit on? 2nd question, Do you always leave 3 inches of space in the back of display to hide cords. 3rd question, What is the best way to cut the foam into 24 x 21 pieces without a proxxon cutter? Last question, What is the best way to cut the sidewalks without a proxxon cutter. I do have the hot wire foam cutter. Thank you.
The actual dimensions are really a personal choice depending on where you’ll place the display-only you’ll know that. I choose 2-3” inches of space behind mine because they set against a wall in the back and I need about that much space for the surge protectors. You can easily cut foam with your hot knife to any measurements you’d like, but I honestly don’t know how you’d manage to cut a foam sidewalk that looked decent without a table foam cutter of some sort-If you attempt and are successful, please let me know how you did it!’
@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl I love the look of your sidewalk and road. I will give the sidewalks my best attempt, maybe someone watching can comment. Thank you
I think hot wire foam factory sells a type of holder for your hot knife-that would certainly help I would think, but I don’t have one, so it’s hard to say. What state do you live in-anywhere close to AZ?
Can’t wait to see the Christmas tree farm! Fantastic idea!

Hey there! Thanks for watching-you have some good ideas about the lights-I may have to try them on the wall vs the sidewalk!
Looking forward to seeing the finished display!

Excellent video as always Carl! I have learned so much from you, many thanks! Hoping you’ll consider expanding your D56 Christmas vignettes.
Thank you Lizz! I plan on doing one more decent sized vignette for Christmas after I finish the Christmas Lane series!

The sidewalk is approximately 2 inches wide. The white foam is 2 inches thick!
