Is unlimited runtime actually possible? Nitecore NU35 (460 lumen) First Look!

  • The problem with most #headlamps is they're limited by 1 battery type. Once that battery dies you're stuck. The #NU35 can use 3 different power sources!
    On the box they advertise 10 hours with the built in battery and 3x AAA, but in the video I'll show you how to push it to 39 hours and beyond!
    If you have any questions on the NU35 or around headlamps in general, fire away in the comments below!

    I bought a NU35 a couple of years ago and I have to say it’s one of the best gear items I’ve ever bought. Congratulations on the great design guys, this one is truly a winner and I’m always happy to recommend it to people. I love the double options of AAA and usb. So far I’ve only recharged it in the car while I’m driving around anyway. The 3 levels of white light and the 2 of red make it extremely versatile. It is extremely light, I literally use mine every single day. I didn’t even realise it also had high CRI light until I watched this just now. Ironically that was something I would’ve used a lot…and now I can and will. I used to use my HC65 a lot partly because of the high CRI which is perfect for reading. I was already impressed with this headlamp and it just got better. Keep up the great innovations! Thanks…

      I have used pouches to hold powerbanks when charging my phone, and I always carry my phone in a belt holster/pouch. By the way, if you have a flashlight in a belt holster and either want to supplement your headlamp from a lower angle, or do not have the headlamp with you, I have found clipping the flashlight to the pouch cover, closing it around the light, and fastening it can provide an alternate way to hold the flashlight.

      I could not decide either; research and specs can only do so much so I bought different ones. My favorite is the NU17 due to fact they are low profile, lightweight and their bright Red LEDs, but we find the NU35 to have the best balance of the NU features.

      Just get a Scangrip I-Match 2 for that. It has two modes, low (80 lumens) and high (160 lumens). It also has 2 different color temperatures, 4,500k and 6,500k. The CRI is 96+ on this light. I don't use it for paint jobs, I use it for paint correction but the whole brand was originally engineered and intended for the automotive paint job industry. Us detailers just found out that they're also amazing for spotting defects such as swirls and scratches on paint as well :P
      Edit: My suggestion is their headlamp, but they make a bunch of other inspection lights such as the Sunmatch 3 (which I also own) which is a handheld torch with 2 brightness levels (with a max lumen rating of ~500 I believe) and it has 5 different color temperatures to suit your needs, all the way from a very orange 2,500k to a blueish 6,500k. They also make big working lights that you can leave on a stand for sustained use like the Multimatch R (which I own and it's an excellent value and an amazing entry level item from their lineup) and they have bigger, more expensive versions of the Multimatch R which you can check out on their website or on detailedimage dot com. Hope this helps!

      do let me know if the battery also charges with the light battery

    • @X9Metatron9X
      @X9Metatron9X Місяць тому

      @@zayankhalid8425Unfortunately, it does not, because the circuit is probably designed only to charge the built-in battery. But that's not really a deal breaker for me and it's still one of the best tasking headlamps for arms length tasks(in my opinion) because it has a nice beam pattern distribution and not the ones with a saturated hot spot at the center which causes glaring after a period time using it just as the guy in this video explains(7:30), because that kind of beam pattern is only suitable for night walking, hiking, search & rescue tasks.
      The only downsides that I don't like about this headlamp are :
      1. The NU35 doesn't have stepless ramping mode ( I believe all nitecore headlamps that I've researched doesn't have this feature) which is a bummer, I hope they upgrade this model or any existing ones to have that stepless ramping mode or release a new model with one, especially the flood light headlamps which purpose is to be used for arms length work like the NU35. The reason this stepless ramping mode is a very nice feature to have is because it allows us to adjust the brightness to the perfect lumens where our eyes can tolerate for as long as we are working rather than just sticking to a certain lumens on each step of brightness which in this case are : Low = 1 lumen, Mid = 38 lumens, High = 210 lumens and Turbo = 460 lumens(6:40) because user's vision tolerance varies for each person. And I've found one headlamp that has this feature with the same flood beam pattern for arms length tasks, the Philips - HL22M which I'm considering on buying soon.
      2. The built mechanisms : The bracket is quite fragile because it's plastic and tends to break at the angle joint(which has happened to mine and I had to super glue it back. And then the hook on the triple-A battery enclosure also broke, I lost the hook piece while working and couldn't save that part to glue it back)
      I get that they're trying their bestto minimize weight by using plastic material for the outer design and all, but at least make a proper mechanisms for the long run.
      With all that said, it's still one of the best headlamps out there, it's almost perfect but I wouldn't consider rebuying it, until they upgrade it or release a new floodlight headlamp(for arms length tasks of course)

    We have three of the NU35.
    In the next version I would love to see more lumens and levels in all three lights main, high CRI Flood and Red LED.
    In addition to the built in battery consider a rechargeable lithium polymer pack along with the ability to accept AAAs.

    I bought this headlamp mainly because of USB C and it's ok but lighting range is a bit disappointing. Ofc diffused light is practical eg for garage work, but it's to weak for hiking in the forest. I bought a lot cheaper Vayox VA0025 which has a lot better lighting range and CRI light between NU35 high and middle mode. CRI in NU35 is useless, because main light is diffused too and CRI is weak. So it's nice headlamp and double source power is a great idea, but power from AAA batteries should be backup power, but no idea why AAA had priority than internal battery, so you must buy AAA always if you want max power time... stupid. Moreover, 460 lumen is joke, because of preventing of high temp you can use it only for 30sec.

    The NU35 headlamp strap is ridiculously difficult to install. Also the customer should not have to figure this out with zero instructions.

    Don’t buy this light if you expect it to last 6 hours on AAA batteries. I purchased this light and it only last about 1 hour on AAA batteries. I emailed the manufacturer and they gave me this lame excuse “The runtime may vary in real-world use due to different batteries or environmental conditions.”

    • @NitecoreSG
      @NitecoreSG  3 роки тому +2

      What brand AAA batteries were you using? The battery quality drastically affects the runtime

      @@NitecoreSG I've tried at least 8 different sets of brand new batteries in real-world use; Energizer Max, Duracell, Rayovac, Unbranded Chinese brand. I get the same performance from all the brands. I'm lucky to get 1 hour of run time at 210 lumens, but it's consistently more like 30 to 40 minutes of run time, then the light shuts off. When I turn it back on, it powers off after about 10 seconds.
      I thought it was a defective unit, so I got a replacement. I'm experiencing the same performance from the replacement unit. Today I tested a little differently: I installed a fresh set of Energizer Max, turned it on to 210 lumens, and set a timer. At 56 minutes, I turned the light off for about 10 seconds and turned it back on. The light ran for about 15 seconds and turned off after about 15 seconds. I removed the batteries and tested the voltage; they were all at 1.350v. If AAA batteries are installed, and the light shuts off like this, you have to remove the AAA batteries and use the internal battery because it keeps shutting off when you turn it on.
      This is my conclusion. Don't count on the AAA batteries in real-world use, and buyer beware of Nitecore; they are clearly faults advertising. If they are doing it on the NU35, they probably do it on all their products.
      I never expected to get 6 hours of run time on AAA batteries, but 30 to 60 minutes is a joke.

    The worst head lamp i ever had. I dont recommend anyone to buy this. Its just turns off suddenly when the battery too low. What could cause accident. If you put batteries in as well its not switching automaticly, and you never know if the lamp useing the battey or the buit in battery? I had many head lamps an these ones what just tuning off are the worst ones. The ones what going out slowly is much safer, you can rely on them they not gonna turn off suddenly. Worst experience this head lamp ever. Was wondering if anyone who researched this product ever tried it out or tested it?
