- Wayfarers Chapel, also known as "The Glass Church" is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It is noted for its unique modern architecture and location on cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Swedenborgian Church of North America and serves as a memorial to its founder, Emanuel Swedenborg.
The church was designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) in the late 1940s and was built between 1949 and 1951. Wright departed from the tradition of using masonry in order to "achieve a delicate enclosure that allows the surrounding landscape to define the sacred space". Additions were built in later years, including a tower and a visitor center, the latter of which had been lost in a landslide during the 1960s.
I lived close by - and any time l needed the rest from the hustle of the life, l would go to the Chapel... and it would help my soul to... relax.
The architecture of the chapel, living with the nature, sounds of the Pacific... You leave with a peace of mind...

Can’t believe this chapel is gone! It was sitting there for years and all of the sudden GONE.
The roads in this video looked nice and paved.
@@conchitapaz3938 thanks, I didn’t know this. Did my research and found it was dismantled and preserved. I’m sort of glad about that because that whole area is unstable.. would have hated to hear it was lost forever due to a slide.

There is way too little about the beauty of the place and too much noise! The Chapel is a place to see the Nature, resting your soul! The noises are absolutely annoying. This video does NOT give it the serenity it deserves.
I immediately put it on mute. I will try to find a video that showcases the serene nature intended for this design
Its in a city. Thats as close as we get to serenity
