Usually, in the US, if you're in the presence of a crime & not stopping it, you're held as just as responsible. They sometimes get lighter sentences, but there are laws in place that require some sort of punishment. I don't know how they would find out all of their identities, but they all 100% deserve to serve some amount of time. Plus, that was sexual assault = sex registry & a race crime. Lots of major crimes going on.

I completely agree that you should always do the right thing and not just stand by and watch. But I must say 30 years ago I challenged 4 men I knew who were kicking an unconscious man in the street. They told me to p*ss off & just carried on so I went to a phone box and called the police and later testified in court. One of those men is the more violent brother of a famous criminal and the whole family stalked me, stole my car and burgled my house. It meant myself and my family had to moved miles away and I had to completely change my whole name. Now I can't even talk to people online from my childhood.

@ginaking7906 exactly. We have a case here in the UK that an elderly man and wife who has Alzheimer were attacked in their house by 2 man and the gentleman fought one of the criminals who had a screwdriver and managed to hurt the robber. He flew but due to the abandon from the comparse and lack of medical care, the criminal died. The poor man was 86 years old and just defending himself and his wife. The family of the criminal pestered this man shameless making shrines in front of his house, in tribute to the criminal, threatened the man 24/7 and nobody was arrested. The poor man and wife had to disappear and put the house to sell. Disgusting.

Let's see how you enjoy being gang raped, urinated on, stamped on, slapped, kicked, filmed etc. My blood is boiling, who raised these so called people ??? I hope Jane has rebuild her life, I cannot even begin to imagine the trauma she's had to deal with. I remember when I was around 21 and I was still in my partying phase. I was approached by a young lady who kept flirting and making advances on me. Now mind you, we are both heavily intoxicated and on various pills. I turned her down. Now the day I saw the same women and she thanked me for not taking advantage of her while she was intoxicated. I'm a gentleman, I'd rather it be consensual and with someone I know.

It's always made sense to me to want someone who wants me. I think feeling desirable is important in sex.
No one wants sex with someone who doesn't want to be with them, who's not interested, not attracted to you. No one.
These rapists aren't after sex, they're after power & domination & being in control of another human being, so having it be against her will makes sense.
I think we need to make that divide more clear. Presenting rape as a sexual thing leaves room for excuses, shame & victim blaming. Sex is a two way interaction.
Rape is a one way act if domination. Victims are never to blame.
For too long we've focused on teaching girls to watch their backs rather than teaching men not to rape.
The world needs more men who don't Rape, don't need to dominate & abuse someone (often smaller & physically weaker which just shows how pathetic they are) and who understand sex to be a purely voluntary, preferably enthusiastic, encounter whether a one time thing or the committed connection with the love of your life.
You should only want to be with a woman who's into you, and you deserve to have someone who wants to.

Sex crimes are worse then murder imo. The victims have a lifetime of trauma to deal with which affects so many aspects of their life. Perpetrators should absolutely serve a life sentence for their crimes. A life for a life.
Personally I have my own opinions on what should be done to monsters like this, but legally a life sentence will suffice I suppose. Nothing less. 3 years is an absolute joke. My heart aches for that girl and her father.

I’m a lawyer who worked in criminal defence for about 10 years. I have a very healthy distrust of the police but if one of them in this case had said “oh no, this suspect is trying to grab my gun……” then “bang bang bang” I’d have to recuse myself from the case.
I’ve defended lots of people I pretty much know are guilty (never if I knew for sure as my duty to the court overrides even my duty to the client), but never in a case like this.
If someone suffering from drug withdrawal steals to feed their habit, I’ve no problem defending them. If they use violence it’s trickier, but most people deserve their day in court. In this case? I’d have overlooked a lot of police “misconduct”. And that makes me a bad person.
You can’t run a society that way and they should get the strongest defence possible, but I couldn’t have provided it
Maybe it’s cowardly for me not to want to run the best possible defence for these scum. But morally I couldn’t. I’m still glad there are lawyers out there who will. The system not only needs to be fair, it needs to be seen as being fair
I’ve moved into childcare law mostly acting for local authorities. In the dark of the night I know I’ve taken children away from a mother who, despite struggling, would probably never harm their child. But can we as a society accept that risk? I KNOW I’ve saved kids lives by removing them from their situation, but I also know that I’ve ruined others who would have been fine. It’s an all around shitty situation

    • @skorzalonsdale4426
      @skorzalonsdale4426 Рік тому +1

I just want people to know that lawyers get a lot of abuse, sometimes deserved, but 99% of us (well…..maybe 75%) are decent people with normal emotions and I don’t know many who’ve worked in criminal or childcare law that don’t have at least a few cases that never leave them.
Standing up in court, in front of the mother or father and arguing that the child that they may love more than anything would be better off away from them in a shitty care home is a memory that will haunt you forever.
Thankfully I’ve never lost a case where the child went on to be significantly harmed, but it’s going to happen one day. And god knows how many parents and kids lives have been decimated by the separation that I’ve successfully argued for.
Hindsight is 20/20, but what you do in the moment can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack in the middle of a thunderstorm. All you can do is act on your instincts in the face of the evidence at hand. And get a good therapist who will help you to keep the intrusive “what if……?” questions that always seem to come in the dark hours before you fall asleep at bay.

I live in South Africa and saw the aftermath of mob mentality by our factory employees. The Soccer World Cup had just finished and our company was one Road down from one of the main stadiums in Johannesburg. During the World Cup there had been metal detectors placed at the various road junctions to the stadium with heavy police presence. When the World Cup ended, the barriers were taken down and the police moved on and the employees who were unable to park inside due to space issues, parked outside as they had always done but now there was no longer security in place.
I heard a massive commotion outside our property but had no idea what was going on. By the time I got outside our gate, there was a man who was being dragged back to our manufacturing plant, bloodied and bruised with a massive split lip and swollen knees and ankles. I was not sure what had happened and when I asked the guys, they were all laughing and animated, retelling the story of how one of our employees spotted a guy stealing the car battery out of one of our other employees vehicles. The rest of the guys from the plant were called and they all then chased this guy down, beat him up and then some of the other employees had gotten bricks and were beating this guy's legs, so that "he wouldn't be able to walk away with anyone's stuff ever again". These are guys that I had genuinely grown to care about so much while working with them😢 but I was absolutely horrified that this is the way that they had responded.... perhaps I am just naive😔. The police were called and the guys told the cops that they ran after him but that he "had fallen, over and over again" and then laughed (chuckling that this is how he got injured). The cops said well that is unlucky and they to chuckled. They said that criminals just get out, so one has to do what you need to do. I was so furious and told everyone that I was so appalled by their behaviour and that you cannot beat and potentially kill someone because they stole something. It is not like the man pulled a weapon and they had to defend themselves, this was a clear case of mob mentality.
I was so disturbed by this whole incident that I cried. The brutality of humans knows no bounds🥺.

I went to this school a few years before this incident. An incident identical to this, happened to 2 blk girls where they were drugged, raped and left in a McDonald's parking lot not too far from the school. This happened when I was a freshman. It made national news but not like this incident here. I remember the court case on this as well. These men were actually held accountable to a degree. The offenders of the 2 blk girls were not. I do not mean to be dismissive or take away from this young ladies story because she deserved to have been protected. I just wanted to share that this happens more than it is being talked about and to show appreciation to Emma for bringing the much needed awareness to these stories. We can not thank you enough.

@@janinek-something7936 I remember my high school days so vividly. I remember the one blk girl who returned to school after being bullied and exploited, and being known for being abandoned in the McDonalds parking lot. She displayed so much strength and courage. She kept her head high and she never waivered in her self accountability for making poor decisions and in her commitment to rebuilding her life. We had so many other things going on… Coach Carter and the basketball team, record championships and much more. But I will never forget her or her story. It’s unfortunate and heartbreaking how justice is not distributed equally in most cases and that women/girls/females have to live life trying to avoid being another statistic in sexual abuse. I pray that everyone who reads this is happy, healthy and most importantly at peace. ❤️

The 1st red flag in this case is that these grown men were hanging out at a HIGH SCHOOL! I knew guys like this as a teenager. They had peaked as teenagers & were desperately clinging on to being "cool" by hanging around younger kids who would naturally look up to them. I had a bad experience with a guy like that myself. Thankfully, my male friends were around & shut that shit down before anything actually happened. It's scary to think of how many of us put ourselves in dangerous situations as young people.

While I was watching this video I was just shaking my head and thinking that each progressive generation gets more depraved. I know when I was a teenager, my parents thought Gen X was going to lead to the downfall of civilized society! I feel like I need to apologize to every bully I had horrible thoughts about in school because I never saw ANY kind of behavior that people tolerate from this zoomer generation. It makes me want to smack each and every one of them upside the head and ask them what their problem is. How do we get MORE and MORE depraved like this? The depravity doesn't even stop with her attackers! Everyone that stood there and allowed it to happen without calling for help is equally depraved. It don't care what the excuse it. If you watch it and allow it and do nothing YOU ARE THE SAME as the perps. Thank God she survived and I hope she is able to get help to heal mentally and emotionally from this because that is going to take SO much more time and pain than the physical injuries! This case just hurts my HEART! My prayers go out to Jane and her family.

I don't know this case, but hearing about it being a pack mentality makes me think of the Junko case.

This happened in the open though. The Junko torture was separate from the public. Some may argue that it makes this case worse. Although, at the same time not because Junko was tortured for days and days in horrible ways with the sole purpose of prolonging her torture whilst preserving her life. When her death eventually happened, her body was discarded in a barrel as if she had been a consumable or an object that had outlived its use.

Yeah I thought of this too. This phenomenon is very real. “Well if everyone else is doing it…” what? You won’t get caught? It’s ok? Maybe they’re right? You’re scared to not comply? Maybe the victim DeSeRVeS iT? What? What makes you think committing a crime like this is ok?
I don’t understand this at all. But this is what I’ve managed to glean from this.
