As a born and bred Californian and a current Oregonian I can confirm that route from Bend to SF in one day is crazy ambitious. But I’m rooting for you! 😅
Haha! Ya... that's a day I'm fearing quite a bit...
As a former Oregonian currently living in Texas, yeah, that is one hella travel day. Consider breaking it up if you can. So much cool scenery and stuff in NoCal.
Lord! You are a brave man😊
Brave is a nice way of putting it.
Everyone else is calling it crazy...
I’m from Vegas! Born and raised in Henderson. Yes, Vegas isn’t the most family friendly, but downtown Henderson isn’t too bad (lots of nice restaurants and a snowcone place). There is also Red Rock (west vegas valley) and even Boulder City if time allows.
It’s a dream of mine to do this road trip! super excited to watch it!
Nice! I think the heat as much as anything will keep us moving through there haha!
What a great trip. It will be fun to follow along!
Thank you! Hopefully it's a fun follow ☺️
Have fun 👍 stay safe and enjoy yourself with your family 👪 I fun
Thank you so much Eddie!
We'll sneak Puerto Rico in there... just sometime after this crazy trip :)
@SodasOnTheRoad that would be awesome, but now it's very hot and humid, and hurricane 🌀 is getting close, November and December tends to cool down a bit
I hope you guys have fun.
Thank you so much!!
I think you need reservations to enter the park for Going to the Sun Road. Worth double-checking.
Hope you have a blast, and enough “down time” too.
Yes, you are correct. We've learned that if entering the park between 6 AM and 3 PM, we need reservations :)
So excited for this stop!
Fun trip! Bend is beautiful. The red rocks in Las Vegas are pretty epic too, but I guess none can beat Utah when it comes to red rocks. Bummer you are not going to the Olympic NP and driving the scenic route 101 from Washington to Oregon. Crater Lake NP is also phenomenon but I guess these are not for young kids. Have a great trip!
Thank you so much!
Caitlin and I were talking about how we want to do this trip again as empty nesters so we can spend more time in each state. So much to see!
You’re great and I wish you so much fun. Oh, do NOT feed the bears. (I know you know this but still…) have great fun!
Thank you so much!
Got done with Glacier.
No bears were seen, it lots of other fun animals!
Wow, the trip from bend to sf is gonna be tough! Might want a backup spot to stay in Ukiah or Santa Rosa. Once you go past Ukiah, it’s pretty scenery but no towns to take a break in until Santa Rosa. If you’re tired by Ukiah, just be safe and stay there IMO. Hope the trip is awesome!!
It is ambitious... luckily we have 4 drivers. So excited for Northern Cali!
Long drive in north Cal!!! I just come from there. The city, I like the most is Trinidad, no need to stop in Crescent and Eureka, very depresing! To see, Trees of Mystery, Avenue of the Giants, with drive trhu tree ($6). I think, due to working with about to retire people, you forgot about the kids!! :-) I would keep the ipads fully charged!! :-) Enjoy your trip!!!! great memories!!!
Thank you!
Yes... iPad will be a life Saver haha!
Reach out to me when you get to Disneyland, Anaheim. I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee and chat about Medicare.
Let's do it!
Erik@theretirementnerds.com is a good email for me on the Medicare side :)
Trip of a lifetime!!! Have fun & stay safe!
Thank you so much!!
Love it! Your children will have a blast too. I hope you have safe travel and get see all that you have on your list
Thank you so much!
Praying for good health, non-disaster weather, and no car troubles.
I don't suppose you have heard of slow travel? You are packing an awful lot into your trip.
I do hope it goes well.
Haha... it is a lot. We are spending a few days at a couple of these stops, which will help 🙂
