Correct. There has to be the understanding of balance in parenting - the needs of the financial provision - yes - but also, just as critical, the importance of what the physical, emotional and mental provision, contributes to raising a healthy human being.
Glad that he cares for his son but I have definitely seen this mistake of elevating career and making money and seeing the really bad impact on the children. I have witnessed the realization down the line of the parent of the damage done and the regret that follows.
I hope he figures it out in time. He is certainly super talented.💯

I hate when people suggest that child support means you are a bad parent or that putting somebody on child support is a negative thing. If you have 50-50 custody, then fine, we’re both taken care of our child when they are with us. If one parent is custodial, I don’t see anything wrong with two adults, saying this is approximately the cost of taking care of our child on a monthly basis, so let’s just set up a payment plan for that. Especially if your relationship is contentious, just set it up that way, no matter what the state of your relationship as you both know that that part is already taken care of. If you’re too immature to come up with a rationale figure, then guess what the court is going to come up with one for both of you and just move on. If you’re a good parent you are always willing to kick in more for extracurriculars. I think if more people just set up child support people wouldn’t have such contentious relationships that just end up hurting your child.

Ok, as a Parent Educator, I work as an Advocate for Fathers in Divorce/Custody Cases in order to get better visitation rights. Although many Mothers start out saying "I don't want to put him on Child Support" and the overwhelming majority of them say that because they're still very much in love with him, hoping for a reconciliation etc... as an Advocate for Fathers, I strongly and always advise Fathers to not fall for that. Why? OK while everything is cool, he's still coming by regularly, he's giving her money regularly. They're probably still "physically" involved, everything is cool. Oooh but once he starts seeing someone else, he's not coming by as regular as he use to and maybe he’s not giving the same amount of money as he use to.... her mind and her feelings changes. And THAT'S when she could decide to take him to court for Child Support. Ok, here comes Mr. October London, with his "receipts" of all the money he gave her. And guess what? She tells the judge "Your Honor, he doesn't come to see his son, and he ain't never gave me a dime, Im our here on my own with my son." Mr. London: "Your Honor, that's not true, look here's my Cash app receipts! The Judge: "In this court, because that was not court mandated, those receipts are considered as "gifts" not Child Support." So now he's considered to be in arrearage, and the court will then assess what he owes from the day the child was born. Sadly sooo many men find themselves in this kind of mess, trying to just have an arrangement/understanding with their children's mother and 9 times out of 10 it backfires on them. In my assessment with men they do this cause: "I don't need no Judge telling me what to do or I don't want nobody taking money out of pocket." And that thought process always comes back to hurt them. Mr. London in his legal ignorance, is saying "she's a church girl" shows that while he masterful in his music, he is naive in his understanding of the Law and court. Child support is for the child's protection and future. And in the same scenario I described about her possibly changing her mind, the same can happen with him. As long as she's not seeing anyone, as long she's every now and then still letting him hit it, yeah he'll come through with the money. But then she starts seeing someone, maybe she lets him spend the night OR she lets him move in?! Oh sh**! Mr. London could be like "OH HELL NAAWWHH! SHE DONE MOVED OLE' BOY IN? THEY LIVING OFF MY MONEY?!" And gives her an ultimatum. You put him out or the money stops. Oh yeah in my over 20 years of working alongside Fathers advising them, helping them get better visitation rights and a fair support payment, I've seen this mess waaaay too many times. Mr. London is free to not believe in marriage, but not believing it doing this above board and legal can come back to bite him hard. Lastly, the people around, supposedly helping with his taxes etc.... if they know this is how he's handling this are doing him a disservice in not sitting him down and explaining this to him. And if they have and yet he still doing this? Then that further let's me know, he's an unwise man.
