5:53 could someone tell me who this actress/character/ movie is, in reference to the line "...best actresses (in contention) this year..." or was that another character in this movie?
Mikey Madison in Anora. She's been getting a lot of buzz for this role and with good reason. Just added a video card for my review to avoid confusing anyone else.
@@MovieMuseOfficial I thought she brought an excellent, needed layer of humor to her performance of an otherwise chagrined character in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". Good to see her getting more high-profile work! I'll have to check that out. thanks!
Thanks, Josh! 🌈 The story is not a loose adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) as you said. It's a prequel, equal and sequel in Oz... focused on the witches, not 'Dorothy'. The musical is based on a novel by Gregory Maguire. He wrote it when L. Frank Baum's properties became public domain. I would love to ask his ghost what he thinks of these modern renditions of his characters. 😆 And you've only seen the first act. There are surprises coming in the second act. And these character relationships are profound. I hope you'll get that someday.
I found it very confusing and scarry for children with the mandrils morphing into some prehistoric birds...the school dance brought to mind the rumble of West Side Story, mish mash of musicals. The set design, costumes, all technical pretty awesome, the acting not for the books, not enough character development, Ariana Grande is charming and lovely, but not Oscar Material. Ms Cynthia dont r emember her last name, is sort of an odd bird in real life, with shaved head, eyebrows, nose ring, not too far from.the character she portrays, so therefore not too believable as a character too close to life, except she is not green and has not tinted eye lenses in life. Beautiful voice, a seasoned actressa, but was a better Harriet Trabman, am sure you saw the movie. All the best till the next review!
I saw it tonight and enjoyed it. I also dont have a theatre background but disagree about Galinda being the star...I found her antics cute, and it reminds me of her character Cat on Victorius, but I didn't shed a tear over her antics. The party scene where Elphaba was dancing alone while being mocked had me balling. I loved the end as well when she read from the book and was flying. I don't know if I'll see part 2 due to the ending but I transported for a few hours to OZ and found that place beautiful but so freaking flawed. Whoever directs the Harry Potter movies should definitely shoot part 2.
"I don't know if I'll see part 2 due to the ending" Do you mean you've seen the musical and don't enjoy the ending? or am I misreading it? Part 1 & 2 were shot together by the same director. It's already been shot. Part 2 is coming next year. The Harry Potter movies have several different directors.
The twists and turns accumulate in act 2, so expect more of those in the second film. Overall, great review 👍
Lovely review, thank you, I will see this with one of my girl posse. Love your reviews they are always spot on.
