My dad was a black cabbie for 47 years, and he retired about 10 years ago. He was the cabbie that Tommy Cooper put a little brown envelope into Dad's shirt pocket and said, "Have a drink on me, cabbie. ".. My old man opened it and it was a tea bag. He picked up Princess Diana a few times, Brian Moore, Eric Morecombe, kicked Kyle Minogue out because she was so drunk and mouthy with her hubby, picked up Clint Eastwood and John Cleese in the same week. He asked Clint for an autograph, and Clint said, "I'll shake your hand, don't do autographs." Timothy Spall, Spike Milligan. These are the ones I can recall. He found a huge bag of jewellery and brought it home. It was like an Addidas sports bag full... he handed it in, and it turned was it was from a hotel room robbery of Liz Taylor she never even gave him a thank you.

This cabbie came up on ‘recommended for me’ a few months back. Been watching him ever since. Really enjoy his material. I agree with him on lots of stuff.
decades ago, I drove a Yellow Cab out of Greenwich, South London. These were black cabs painted yellow, but were actually minicabs. The black cab community was up in arms about it. I remember being chased by group of cabs near Little Venice, the same along the Embankment, and a black cab tried to run me into some roadworks along the Old Kent Road. One day, I was parked up in Greenwich, when a black cab pulled up behind and the driver got out and came towards me. He tapped on my window and I pulled it down, expecting some hassle. He had tears in his eyes, saying, 'mate, this was my first cab, I can't believe it's still going, do you mind if I have a sit down in it? It was a 1972 Austin taxi. He was in the driver's seat, reminiscing, and I was leaning on the door window listening, when a car load of police turned up, thinking there was some trouble! 😂
Liam, I wish I had your mentality and your energy. I am in such a dark place at the moment. I just can't get myself out of no matter how much i try.
