Cyberdemon: hey! Why are you guys shooting the camera? Im your target here Wolfenstein SS: We ARE shooting at you, except the animators made us shoot the camera even though we damaged you
what's funny is that there has been a patch that adds firing rotations to the ss by revenant100 a long time ago but GG Retro keeps forgetting about it :v
Love the hordes of dead SS within 5 seconds of the start of the later rounds...As everyone else has noticed..if they didnt kill each other en masse, they might have made short work of the CD.
Back when I was in middle school, I was friends with two idiots who had convinced themselves that the SS soldiers were saying "my naven" when they died, and they had also convinced themselves that my naven meant my dick. Everyday, they would point their fingers like guns at each other and say "schustafol" and then "my naven!" This went on for over two months. When I finally played wolfenstein myself, I heard it and came to school the next day and said "the game isn't saying my naven it says mein laben and that means my life not my dick." You would have thought I told them that their house had burned down by the looks on their faces. I never heard my naven again.
Imagine if the cyberdemon could change targets mid-volley, instead of dumping 3 rockets into one spot, where 1 kills the foe and the other 2 are wasted.....
I know what its supposed to be, but I can hear that too. Myself, I kinda think it sounds like FROYNLAVEN, a fake yiddish word they used a lot on Animaniacs to make fun of Jerry Lewis.
Is it my impression that they fared worse in Nightmare because of distance? The SS will be more prone to shoot but it felt as if they were hitting nothing. In normal they got closer so the shots got in and the CDs died.
I remember the day I learned that the corpse sprite always faces the camera since the developers didn't include different angles as you walk by. They also only have a shooting sprite that faces the camera because the old games only had one target-the player!
Only the SS troopers have a firing sprite that perma faces the camera, I assume they where taken directly from Wolf3D with small modifications. All other monsters have firing sprites for all 8 directions, easily visible with monster infighting.
@@Deamia Yes, a Doom wiki article confirms the SS troops were brought into Doom from Wolfenstein for some hidden levels and additional firing sprites weren't added.
(insert mandatory comment about the SSs' shooting at the camera) There's nothing more _un_satisfying to see than a SS (or any gibbable enemy, for that matter) take a Cyberdemon missile in the face and die a regular death because of a low damage roll 🤷🏻♂️
Eh. isn't that actually map 32 of doom 2? I always wondered why the Doom2 SS guard had such a low rate of fire compared to the Wolfenstein 3D one. Those guys could actually kill you in one burst if you were too close and didn't notice them behind you.
Mr. GGRetro think it's some kinda unfair battle cuz in theory 1000 nazises can kill 5 Cybers. The main problem is they are standing too clode to each other and 90% of them dying in infight. It would be more fair if they standed on one plantform each so they couldn't move ... or put them in one line so at least less chance to hurt themselves. Am i wrong?
The problem for them is two fold; they kill each other, but more seriously those behind can do very little if any damage to a cyber at that range. I don’t know for sure but a single cyber might have won 1v1000 in nightmare.
no, they fire in all directions, it's just that rotational sprites for their firing animation doesn't exist in the game files so the game just uses their one forward facing sprite
in the 3 vs 150 why would you place the SS like that? it may aswel be 3 v 100 with how many SS are instantly firing into the back of the others.. pointless. edit: just got to the 5 v 1000... well even more pointless coz that was fucking worse!

This is an accurate scenario of imperial guardsman trying to fight off Chaos demons...

They need a course in gun safety.

*Schutzstaffel
When I was at school we all thought they were saying "my balls"
And that's the reason they had friends, but you didn't.
The SS might have done a little better if they were facing their target ;)
This is what I was thinking too. I feel like they were missing a lot of their shots because they kept facing away from the target.
I totally wished they fix their animation so that they can shoot facing the enemies instead of the camera

That only happens if painstate happens (which just cancels the current volley early).
he does at 7.29 lol

Cyber Demon be like: Welcome to Hell motherfuckers! Time to pay your dues!
Is it just me or does anyone else hear "I'M LEAVIN'!" when the SS soldiers die?
They are saying "mein leben" or "my life" in english.
I know what its supposed to be, but I can hear that too. Myself, I kinda think it sounds like FROYNLAVEN, a fake yiddish word they used a lot on Animaniacs to make fun of Jerry Lewis.
No, they say ' Mein Leben'
I definitely heard this as a kid playing OG Wolfenstein 3D
I know they say "Mein Leben" but
"5 vs 1000... but 900 are dead before the first rocket hits tehee..."
Love seeing the Cyber gib the SS jerks and the remaining rockets fly into the bits for good measure.

There is a spread to hitscan attacks, and at long ranges hitscan enemies have a very high chance of missing.

I never rooted for Cyberdemon so much before this fight
Saturday: Cyberdemon slaughters!
Sunday: Spider Mastermind GETS slaughtered!
This SS really hate the camera :D
bro theres no other shooting sprites cuz they probly forgot
so their not shooting the camera
1:56 Wolfenstein SSs would prolly win this battle if they shot the cyber instead of camera
The cyber is already damaged by them, but the SS shooting animation only focuses on the camera rather than the enemies in front of them.
@@louieosumothey only shoot the camera
@@louieosumo I immediately understood this when I saw the scene. But, thanks for the addition

Are.... are you *sure* about that🤔
I knew once they felt the power of cyber demons rockets it was game over for the guards
*Really* surprised that 2 vs 100 went to The Nay-zees. Figured most of them would off each other in the crossfire...
0:31 look at him getting shot in da booty!

Should have used the Grosse music.

why not put elevated rows for the 1000 vs monsters
