------------
In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
It’s great how Alex and Greg keep winding Ed up knowing both that he’ll explode and that also he’s actually won. 🤣
It is so much fun seeing him angry and embarrassed about being angry and exaggerating his actual anger for comedy but nonetheless still being embarrassed at the same time.
Look of pure vindication on his face... slightly embarrassed but still vindicated
I don't doubt that was genuinely very satisfying for him
This is why I love this show so much it was perfect
I still say, that while Rose failed at the task, she won on the day.
"...fucking fly!" Ed's rant is just a cherry on top of a somewhat luck-based task, only to be the only one who completed it correctly, twice.
Why did everyone seem shocked when he said that?
@@rachelcookie321 Because the TM is somewhat random in how points are awarded or taken away.
@@ultrademigod yea but the “fucking fly” part. I didn’t understand why everyone seemed shocked when he said that.
@@rachelcookie321 Not shocked. Impressed he killed the fly.
@@rachelcookie321 it was his sheer rage that he killed a fly mid rant
The look of relief on Ed's face that not only was he the only one to complete the task, he basically secured his victory, as if it was finally worth all the pain and suffering that task gave him.
Actually, from the Taskmaster podcast, we know that he was actually extremely embarassed and uncomfortable in that moment xD he says nothing feels worse than throwing a tantrum like a child in front of everyone and then getting what you asked for, ahahah
@@BernardoSutter I can't wait untill the podcast will talk about Series 9 episode 10! Sadly that would be the last episode untill a new series unless they discuss international... prob NZ first if that would be the case.
This is one of the best TM tasks. Pointless, and prone to hilarious chaos.
Like the riddle task in the lastest series, when Guz had many "revelations" and then wrote 'This task is shit'.
I hope they do this one again but with different mini-tasks. It was a lot of fun to watch.
The pure existentialism of Taskmaster!
@@luciadilazzaro2285 do you know what episode thats from? Would love to watch it if it's on YT
@@rexvermis I don't think you will find it on taskmaster, you could try to look for a channel "ozmartian" or something like that it has some TM-episodes and links to others.
This feels like a complete Redemption Arc of Ed Gamble all within a single task, glad he got the points.
lol yeah that sigh of relief on his face after he was announced the supreme winner, was so fucking glorious. I'm glad he got that moment after going through all that like a gd champion. lol
I mean hey, at least nobody got worse orders, the worst order I can think of is:
1) Hand on hip
2) hide jigsaw pieces
3) build tower
4) put things in wheelbarrow
5) hit at least 1 pin
6) put wheelbarrow in van
7) solve the jigsaw
Reason I think this is the worst order is because having 1 hand for every single other task is horrible, building the tower near start means it's a bit more likely to fall down, even more so when you have to hit at least 1 pin later on, hiding the jigsaw pieces near the start but only having to solve them near the end could mean you forgot where the pieces are, and finally, putting things in the wheelbarrow before getting it in the van is self-explanatory.
Also if the things you put in the wheelbarrow were the skittles, you'd have to take them out and start over.
Maybe swap 1 and 2? With both hands available you could potentially hide pieces in places that can be hard to retrieve with only 1 hand
@@jakistam1000 I don't see how that would work, can you give an example of somewhere you could hide it where you can only get to something with 2 hands?
@@RandomPerson-sh9tu Well... To be honest, I don't think I can. That was more of a wild hypothetical.
One thing that came to mind was hiding on the roof. I think it would still be possible to retrieve, but very inconvenient. The issue is that you don't need both hands to hide it.
@@RandomPerson-sh9tu With two hands you’re more likely to wildly scatter in two directions at the same time, and also to hold back foliage/pick up items to hide things behind/beneath.
What I would have given to see Ed's reaction if Greg had said, "you know what, it was an admirable effort from everyone, 5 points all around."
LOL
😂
Every time I watch this episode I laugh at the bronzer disaster happening on Greg and Alex's faces
😂 I was wondering what was up with that
Is that intentional? I’ve only just seen this clip and I’m like…I hope this is a bit?
@@fightclub6291 unfortunately it's not a bit. All of them decided to dress up for the finale (hence everyone else in suits and fancy hair) and I think the makeup artist just forgot that bronzer is meant to be subtle (and not stop and the side of the neck)
@@spruhakurlekar261 It was a bit. After Greg introduces him, Alex says "Thank you for letting me lie in your tanning bed with you."
@@celticwolff5429 If you look throughout the episode you'll notice that the fake tan gets darker and darker.
“No! It’s not about the spirit!” was a personal highlight 😂😂😂😂
The cheeky expression on Greg's face 🤣
Greg's lucky he's the size of a building or he might have been physically attacked right then
Love how they tore Ed down only to build him up again!
Like bricks in a 26 inch tower, these are the tasks of our lives
That quote reminds me of Reginald D Hunter's treatment of David Mitchell on The Bubble.
Such a shame that show didn't have more than one series.
The relief on Ed's face at the very end is incredible, because we know he's just waiting for Greg to say the wrong thing and he'll explode
he really looked like he might cry out of relief in that last shot
Having David and Ed on in the same series was just amazing. All of the mostly chill energy from the ladies just amplified Ed's increasing fury.
"Have I been put on a team with David Baddiel?"
@@qwertyTRiG "Can I just say we've done it alphabetically?"
The fact that Ed looks like he's genuinely about to cry by the end of it
Ed is the person I want to succeed Greg if he ever retires from being the task master
I think he would do a fantastic job of it.
But who would be his assistant?
It would flip the whole idea of the show by a bit, but James Acaster would probably work quite well in that regard. He can stay quiet, but when he says something, its hilarious. Same as little alex horne
Ed Gamble fully deserved this win, it was pure *dedication!*
desperation
@@azianxblah DEDICATION DAVID!
This has to be one of mu favorite moments. That fact that Ed won after his tantrum because he was the only one that actually finished all the tasks was pure comedy genius
Ed: "That was the worst day of my fucking life!"
Alex/Greg: "So far, so far"
Hilarious
Foreshadowing Ed's debacle in Champion Of Champions
If James Acaster had to do this task:
1) puts hand on his hip
2) puts the bricks in the wheelbarrow
3) fails to build the tower

4) puts 20 things in the wheelbarrow
5) builds the tower
6) puts hand on his hip

Restart
13) hides jigsaw pieces
14) puts wheelbarrow in the caravan
15) puts bowling ball and 19 other things in the wheelbarrow
16) builds tower
17) puts hand on his hip

24) puts hand on his hip
25) has to search the hidden pieces to complete the jigsaw
26) has to go to a mental health clinic as he has gone insane
"Oh, the perfect stuff!"
I love love to see this happen to James Acaster.
You know he’d say “Restart!” every time he had to start again too
Bebe
I heard that during this task, Ed actually caused some minor damage to the Taskmaster house when bowling
Alex’s “so far, so far, so far” about the worst day of Ed’s life became so prophetic with CoC 2.
The spray tan on Alex and Greg is gnarly
Ed: That was the worst day of my life!
Alex: So far!
Accidental foreshadowing for Champion of Champions 2…
A potentially complicated task brilliantly edited for maximum effect. Well done guys 👌🏼
Seriously though, nice job on the editors’ part!
Eds performance in this is my greatest moment in the entire show, it's the pinnacle of what the site was stunning for, & as someone who had the same bad luck & exudes the same frustrations, I applaud & laugh at him with with a sense if pride & relief. As well as his arguing in this & other tasks, great debating skills
This is one of the best tasks.
Loophole that Ed could have used if he had to restart the task. Gather up all 7 mini-tasks, put them back in the envelopes, position them in a good sequence. Then restart the actual task at the front porch, telling him to open any of the 7 tasks and do them before going to the next one.
But happy he won.
My favourite is how cheerily ed says hi to alex at the beginning...but ends with telling him to go fuck himself 😂
I think David also did not build his tower tall enough besides the hip issue. At 5:10 it shows that his tower is 9 bricks high which is the same as Rose's shown at 11:10.
Got disqualified either way, so what does it matter
@@OrgaNik_Music it doesnt at all its just interesting to note
@@OrgaNik_Music they don't need to mention everything that went wrong
@@nicosmind3 There is no time in the world to list everything that David Baddiel did wrong this series.

My vote is for Katherine Parkinson (partnering with Alex Horne, of course) to try to complete this one.
@@desd111 "am I a tower of bricks?"
My favorite task ever. The perfect culmination of an insane and wonderful series.
Same vibes as “Tie yourself up”
i never before noticed that alex says "want me to have a look" then just shoves his face into the tree 😂
The best part of this show is the genuine sense of accomplishment from the contestants.
Gah clever TM making me want to watch the whole series with these guys again…increase in weekly screen time, here I come!
11:36 I love how even Alex was shocked by that ruling
Hahahahahaha, this is absolutely epic, one of the best tasks ever due to that insane outcome coming after one of the biggest rages in Taskmaster ever :D
its great to see how contestants get genuinly flustered on taskmaster. Its the real human reactions that make it so good to watch the scoring part of the tasks. and since the contestants are comedians, such outbursts end up being hilarious. What a wonderful format for a show.
I fucking love Ed's outbursts! I can't wait to see how many outbursts he'll address on the podcast when it reaches season 9. We'll have to wait at least a year because there are 25 weeks of previous series left but there's also a series 13 coming up this year plus the CoC 2 and next year's New Year Special. I'm counting the weeks ...
They’ll broadcast a Series 14 in the autumn as well. Studio sessions are filming in a couple of weeks. It will probably be a little while until we get around to S9. I wonder what they’ll do once he does finish S9 though, as then he’ll be back where the podcast started.
This has got to be one of my favorite tasks of the series. Nothing will beat Joe Willkinson's hole in one but this had me dying!
I forgot about this one and that they all wore tuxedos on the last episode. Hilarious all around!
Here for Ed’s rant, loved it!!
We just had this on our swedish version of taskmaster, reduced to 5 tasks. No tower or bowling, but just as funny 😄
Ah, I love 'Bast i Test' (sorry, cannot do diacritics on this keyboard) so I look forward to getting to that one. I hope you noted Alex's mention in U.K. series 13 episode 8.
Yes, I did 😁
What a rollercoaster of a task
We need an "Ed getting wound up and angry" compilation.
Rose missing the height of the tower by just 3 inches hurt.
This, together with series 6, are definitely the best last tasks of a series
This is the very definition of the Cycle of Hurting.
absolutely one of the best tasks and Ed vindicated once and for all!
I really thought Ed was going to cry. I’ve never wanted to give someone a hug so badly.
My favourite series ever! Had all the incompetence, chaos, and wholesomebess 😂
Ed, just being so pleased that he got all of the points that he is only quite upset about the task, rather than going on a hate fueled killing spree.
What an absolutely devastating redemption arc.
Ed: That was the worst day of my f***ing life!!
Alex: so far.
🤣🤣🤣
Worst order:
1. Hands on hip
2. Hide the Jigsaw
3. Put 20 things in a wheelbarrow
4. Build a tower
5. Knock over a skittle
6. Put the wheelbarrow in the caravan
7. Solve the Jigsaw puzzle.
Best order:
1. Put the wheelbarrow in the caravan
2. Knock over a skittle
3. Build a tower.
4. Complete the Jigsaw
5. Hide the jigsaw
6. Put 20 things in the wheelbarrow
7. Put one hand on your hip.
The reason I put the ‘20 things in a wheelbarrow’ last is because it ensures contestants don’t self sabotage themselves by putting the skittles or bricks in the barrow.
I need a compilation of all the breakdowns that contestants have had during taskmaster
the relief and vindication in his eyes, glorious
"Place one of your hands on one of your hips and keep it there until you've completed all tasks."
This task isn't completed until all tasks have been completed, including itself, so it's an infinite loop and can never be completed. Even if you assume "all other tasks", it still means that once you touch this task, you can't look inside another task until you've completed all the tasks, which would require some wizardry unless you happen to get this one last.
**PEDANTRY TIME!!**
The part everyone commonly knows as the 'hip' is actually part of the pelvis and is called the iliac crest. The actual hip joint - where the femur articulates with the pelvis and which is what gets fixed during a hip replacement - is lower down and more central, closer to the groin area but deeper. So David's mate was not wrong. Doesn't excuse David not knowing in the first place, though!
That finish was sublime.
This season was great for the fact I hadn't heard of 3 of the contestants but they ended up becoming some of my favourites
wow.. huge validation for Ed. Wholesome, actually!
Have they cut a part where talk about Katie not putting enough things in the wheelbarrow? Because she counts to 20, but apparently she actually counts 14-15-18? Seems like something the should've mentioned in the studio.
The first time I saw this task, it was an emotional roller coaster for me. Still can't get over it. :)
Brilliant! Top class twist at the end!
What a twist in the points. Also, what’s with Alex and Greg’s spray tan?!
it was a part of the banter section at the start - alex thanked greg for letting him use his tanning bed with him
Wording of Task 4 does not say that you have to keep all 20 things larger than a tennis ball in the caravan after you've completed it.
Task 3 (Put wheelbarrow in caravan), Task 6 (Build a tower), and Task 7 (Hand on hip) have language in it that strictly specifies "until all the tasks are complete"/"for the rest of the tasks."
For Task 3, 6, and 7, The wheelbarrow must stay in the caravan, the tower have to keep standing standing, and the hand must stay on your hip until all seven tasks are complete. There is nothing on the rules that prohibited what Jo did.
Why did Alex warn Jo and Ed that they will have to restart if things fall off?
Not really relevent, since he kept taking it off, but the actual hip joint is somewhat in the groin area. A bit further to the side from where David puts it though. What colloquially is known as your hips is actually your pelvis (the os ilium to be specific).
Is there a joke I'm missing with Greg and Alex being that orange or did the makeup department go absolutely nuts when this was filmed
Pretty sure there was a joke in the “banter section” of the intro to the show which explained it
@@markstamp3937 Yeah that would make sense, because it does look far too extreme - especially on Alex - to not be a joke
@@CryptP maybe he's just a bad man
IIRC in the banter Alex got them discounted spray tans for the series finale.

@@Pikaton659 ah sweet
Vindicated after what is still a fucking funny rant from Ed.
If I was Ed, I'd be happy I somehow won, but I'd also end up feeling bad for Rose. She did the task so well yet still lost by three inches.
There is a reason why the Taskmaster supplies a tape measure. Every detail is important.
I've never seen anyone deserve 5 points more than that!
Alex Horne: "We're gonna start with Rose Matter-O'Facto!"
UA-cam: "Matter of fact, we're going to start with a couple of ads."
I think that the absolute worst possible order you could get is:
1: Hand on hip, just to make everything harder
2: Hide puzzle pieces
3: Fill wheelbarrow
4: Build tower (bricks may be in the wheelbarrow)
5: Bowling (tower is in the way, and pins may be in the wheelbarrow)
6: Do puzzle (quite a long time after hiding the pieces so you may have forgotten where some are)
7: Put wheelbarrow in caravan (lose all your progress at the very end!)
The worst day of Ed's life it's different now that we've seen champion of champions
I want to see the people from CollegeHumor (Specifically Brennan) get put on this show. He would be so infuriated it would be delightful.
Game Changer/Taskmaster crossover would be incredible
Since we can only have 5, my CH Taskmaster lineup is Brennan, Rehka, Grant, Trapp and Siobhan
i always think about how “that was the worst day of my fucking life” “so far” was so true, champion of champions edition ed gamble hadn’t yet made his appearance
Probably the best task in the history of TM. Rose not completing the tower after having the luck in her favour, and Ed getting the points having had to do it twice, is TM in a nutshell.
I love Ed’s aggression on this show! 😂😅
love Ed, my favorite contestant
I'm still mentally stuck on what they call bowling ball pins lol
Bowling pins? Is that incorrect?
Oh skittles, that is a very common name for bowling pins, quite why idk
I so want to listen to this episode on the podcast 😂
I was hoping at the end Ed would say: "That's the spirit!"
you can tell that man was about to cry. good for him. LOL
By the tan on their faces, Alex and Greg seem to have been on a joint holiday.
Rose only has herself to blame. Why wouldn't you double check the height of the tower, or make it extra tall just in case ...
Ed realising he won was sweet bc he really was upset about doing it twice 😅
Taskmaster is the best.
"Ed Gambol completed it twice," has the same energy as "Hamilton wrote the other fifty-one!"
Rip random fly
I love the twist ending.
why are alex and greg so tan 🤣🤣
I did NOT see that outcome coming.
Normally when someone goes on a rant they end up feeling even worse about themselves.
Best plot twist since The Usual Suspects
Ed just won the Purple Heart in his mind
one of the best bits, i loved the chaos in this episode
I can hear Ross from Friends shouting Pivot when they fail at getting the wb in the caravan
Eds moment is me at work. But in the end everybody gets the same amount of money somehow.
I mean, I would have given everyone one point for the effort and five to Ed, but that's why I'm not the TM.
I would've given Jo a point as I think she was the only one to get a strike with the bowling ball, but that's also why I'm not the TM.
I'm going with Rose was disadvantaged on that one cause we don't measure things in inches in New Zealand
We don't measure in inches in the UK either, unless you're ancient
She had a tape measure...
(We don't measure things in lobsters either, you just make do with what you've got.)
@@Marina-pe1gx The problem was she couldn't keep the tape straight with only one hand.
"That was the worst day of my life!" Wish I could have had that much fun on the worst day of my life.
