50% of the towns are in brown, and 50% are in green.
Data was not available for all overseas territories. That's why they are not included in this video.

I love how being close to Switzerland instantly makes them wealthy
I think it is mainly because they work in Geneva, where wages are higher, but live in France and so you are richer doing the same job. It is the same also here in Italy.
The same for the Luxembourg
Hum yes, but actually no, Switzerland has nothing to do with it, I know what I say because I am French. The dark green area near Switzerland shelters the second richest and most developed city in France: Lyon. It’s a kind of counter-power to Paris, so necessarily business leaders, doctors, highly skilled workers or teachers, lawyers, etc., live there and create a lot of wealth.
@@mathiselfamoso Of course Switzerland also has something to do with it. For the exact reasons one explained earlier.
@@mathiselfamoso "Switzerland has nothing to do with it" is just plain wrong.
www.thelocal.ch/20191118/increasing-number-of-foreigners-commute-to-work-in-switzerland-each-day
it says that, at november 2019, there were 85,100 frontaliers from France, 67,800 from Italy and 33,700 from Germany.
And as it says in the article "These workers should not be confused with French, Italian and German immigrants who live permanently in Switzerland, constituting the largest percentage of foreigners in the country, or with those who have the right to live here but choose to make their home in the bordering areas because life is cheaper there." So, these numbers are even higher and the wealth from this phenomenon is bigger than that. In which percentage does this affect the general wealth I do not know, but it is surely wrong saying that "it has nothing to do with it".
I just spent one minute watching a moldy french pancake being assembled...cool

This is actually extremely interesting. Would like to see something like this for Canada. Thank you. Beautiful, simple work!
you'd get 4 green dots: point grey Vancouver, upper mount royal Calgary, bridle path Toronto, and old money areas of montreal. rest of the country would be a big brown stain.
tree house20627 Canada is blue stain
You should rename Canada to Montréal
I think it's interesting how people living close to cities are among the wealthiest, while people living in the cities themselves are among the poorest
It seems more obvious to me
yes and that is not for the better since the mentality of the literal bourgeois is toxic
Because the poorest category of the population in France are immigrants ans they mostly live in cities
It has to do with suburbs

Switzerland is the centre of wealth in Europe. In France, the regions wich are near Switzerland are the richest. But not only in France, in Germany, Austria and Italy also. French Alps, Western Austria, Southern Germany and Northern Italy are the richest regions in these countries and all are bordering Switzerland.

Dude! The "Rise of Empires: Ice and Fire" devs have been stealing your "Rulers of Europe" video to advertise their game on UA-cam!
(Long Tech net. Lt.)
compared to germany france, uk, us and russia are sickly centralised
That's a result of History
Germany has never been centralised for most of the existence of the region, the closest it got from centralisation (Charlemagne's empire and the height of Habsburg power) were centralised in areas outside of modern day Germany. The German states all developed on their own.
Compare that to France and Russia that have been centralised forces for several centuries at this point with very rigid recurring structures and the two are certain to end up looking quite different. One will looking multipolar, the other will have one big pole that represents the historical centre of Power (Paris in France, Moscow/St Petersburg in Russia) and several smaller ones that in general were important centers for the enforcement of power at a local level (Marseille, Lyon or Toulouse in France, Volgograd, Kazan or Novgorod* in Russia)
*Novgorord was also a capital in it's time but you got the picture
Just a heads up: The description is wrong, you accidentally wrote "from the highest average income to the highest average income"
Lol
Basically this: urban areas or areas bordering Switzerland are richer, rural areas are poorer. The south also seems to be much poorer than the north
this map colour kinda reminds me of old bread getting bad, some for reason...
Average income does'nt tell much about the actual wealth of a population. For exemple here Nice is rich, despite having 20% of it's population living bellow the poverty line (national average is 13-14%).
The map generaly shows poorer countryside as opposed to richer cities, while actually according to data from the social research organization "observatoire des inégalités" 60% of France's poors live in cities and city suburbs.
Median income and poverty rate are better tools for documenting wealth disparities.

super bien notre belle france
Similar to the left/right map.
