Learn how to make a cheap and easy interactive DIY holographic display! This device uses a fan and a smoke machine to create a screen of fog. A projector can then be uses to project images onto the screen. A hand tracking tool called leap motion can also be used to input hand gestures and create an interactive hologram display! Best of all this device can be made for very cheap

The simplicity of this... is ridiculous! The fact that this could actually be what they use in Star Wars. This also makes me think that I can use this in my own DIY videos without CGI! I'm on a budget here, guys.
i have no idea what made you think that? Star Wars holograms are volumetric. They're 3D. That's ignoring the lack of a smoke screen system.
Hologram in gás orgonio.

Here's something you might want to try put a rheostat on the fan and slow the fan down see if you can get a more even smoke screen coming out of the top you should be able to see better and your images should not be as blurry hope to see a video from that soon have a blessed day and thank you
The money he’s spends and the things that he does for us…… thank you, I’ve wanted to be an inventor for my whole life, and your videos resparked my passion.

That is pretty cool. I think if you make a better flow module for the smoke it would look clearer but cost more. But I’m definitely trying it

@@renascitur7051 but 30$ the interactive part got me by suprise tho
The biggest problem with making a real holoprojector like what we see in science fiction is having something for the projector to project upon. Right now you need to have some sort of particulate matter in the air like smoke or fine dust and that has limitations. I think the real breakthrough will come when somebody figures out how to make the projection react with air molecules themselves, even if the wind is blowing. That's gotta be the key and it's the only way I can imagine the kind of 3D image we've all been seeing since Star Wars being created
answer : Tony Stark :D
Japanese scientists have been working on this since 2078
@@thomasbingham2797 You're a time traveler?
I suggest you search up volumetric displays
wow, dude that's a great effort we often misunderstand how hard it is to make these projects and then trust yourself that they might work that's a great idea and great 1-time execution and also totally improvable. if this was your idea then it's actually pretty great and you are very talented. the guy who made the tv for had a resolution of 10 by 10 and we now have 4k so anythings possible but someone like you gonna start great loved it inspiring to someone like me

A clickbait-looking title but a genuine video. Outstanding!
The fan isn't what one considers when asking a Jedi for help, but this puts a smile on my face :)
very good! I am developing one too, however, using an interactive table and a video, but using the concept of augmented reality.
he needs definitely more subscribers, great video as always! 👍
definitely need to see improvements with this, cuz this is a great start!
Holy Star Wars! This looked amazing!!
Instead of using all those pieces of coroplast, use only one piece. That makes it a thinner screen, sharper image.
Not a hologram, BUT, certainly no less cool as a vapor screen. There's an excellent example of one used in a Stargate Atlantis episode, in which dry ice was used to flow fog down to an air intake strip, on the floor, and a projector cast the video onto it. A very, very cool effect. An even more impressive medium is the water screen, which involves a water pipe with a flat piece of metal mounted on the end of the pipe, so a very fine, fan of spray comes out. You can project lasers, and video onto it. I think Disney, and some of the casinos in Vagas use these for outdoor free floating like displays. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on getting your vapor screen to work for the demo. :)

Let me talk to you about the avenger initiative of earth 1218
Avenger Initiative? LoL It is to finally listen to me instead of relying on their sub-par intellect. Assumptions project reality. Like attracts like. Thanos is no accident. Don't worry, I told Dr. Strange how to fix everything after he realized that I was actually the one that taught him how to defeat Dormammu. Thanos is just a better Avenger. he is a mirror image of what they do and want and yet the Avengers cannot see through the Smoky mirror. If all seek Peace and he can establish it, would it not have looked different had they come to that realization instead of refusing to acknowledge the Endgame truth...

I came up with this exact method back in 2012. But one of my versions was to use a particular spectrum of light, rather than smoke.
This is really cool, you should team up with styropro and do an extra clear one.
Mist is where it's at, Disney figured this out like 25 years ago for their parks.
awesome build - you're very creative.
This guy is crazy, that's dope dude
amazing! keep up the great work
You could use range sensors on the side of the hologram projector and attempt to make it interactive like that.
That is INSANE!
Great video except the music was kind of annoying.
I was thinking the same exact thing.....
Looks cool. I hope one day we be rocking it like Tony Stark everywhere.

I love all of your videos lve been watching you for a long time and a year and I'm a fan of engendering and is because of u thanks your my favourite UA-camr ever
You could add a vent that sucks up the air on top and thicker smoke
PS: the vent lets you use it inside so you can get better air flow
amazing! u shd be teaching this to kids... they'd luvvvv it im sure and not to mention - great way to understand science!

reeh killing the enviro with dem straws lol super cool
Why not have that smoke screen push between two non-reflective glass sheets?
Edit: I just don’t understand why you would stick your hand through it making it difficult to see. As long as he would have the hand tracker in a viable area it should still be cool enough.
i thought of that, but then you wouldnt be able to stick ur hand through and wont b as cool
The point would be moot then. The hologram is designed to be intangible.
Because you wouldn't be able to touch it
i would want to walk through it or something too as a cool entrance
Idiot
You’ve found one step closer to holograms!! 😃😃😃
When you think about it if you had a video of the same image playing on multiple projectors displaying the same image but at different angles into the same point with a fog or something non toxic as a image base then it will be more advanced than star wars.

These holograms look like someone set them ablaze
hello good afternoon I really liked your project, I with my students we are putting together a similar screen we were testing with dry ice worked very well but the image is not so good, I am now using ultrasonic transducers and generate that screen with water vapor will improve a lot the image, are you using kinet for the movements?
Jake: Let's make a hologram
Jake: *Not 2 seconds later goes to home Depot.*
Me:WoW
bro you are a complete genius......... :0
Solution:(Warning this may be a Secret from Disney)
Use multiple projectors (at least two, one regular from the front and one mirrored from the rear; this helps both brightness and resolution.)
Yours truly,
-Not a Disney Fungineer.
If you attache a tube that covers the back end of the fan you can use its own suction to redirect the fog up and back into the fan
For me, you are a genius man.
Please try this with a higher quality projector
The steam(or smoke) is not like a wall, so the image cannot be projected well
@@vertix681 it would be a bit better with a better projector
Cool project. I really like the way you talk. That's worth subscribing alone...lol. Great video quality and continuity..
Ever forward... good experiments... thanks mate.
This was badass this is the closest thing I've seen to a real hologram the point was the image isn't on something solid or in something solid
This turned out really cool!
What about a really slow version of this.. let the fog pool and pour down in thin wide veil.. all the movement is too much input. Great idea and really valuable to see it work. Thx!
What a sick idea. Super cool video
I'm no expert, but would the screen be any thicker, and thus clearer, if multiple smoke screens were set up? Maybe one on the ground, one mounted above (blowing down with some extra force) and one on each side (blowing in, also with extra force). This might make it more distorted in the end, but it could work. I hope the idea helps you, great work!
Ngl that’s amazing!
How about mounting the fog machine and diffuser up high and point the fog down? Might come out smoother and no need for a fan. Very cool, though.
You should attach an air sucker (aspirator) 1 meter above it so no extra smoke will distort the effect. And maybe build a system that condenses the glycerin and water and outputs normal air.
Yea can you imagine with the vacuum flow it could create impossible visuals. I figured you also could use some flexible mirrors to reflect on larger platforms. Robotic colidioscope topside with smoke fall from top lighting circle vacuum Suckers at the bottom. Surrounding audiencess
This channel is just a cover-up for awesome school science projects
Amazing video brother
Make your own version of a iron man mask, I made one and it is out of a paintball mask, and it has eye and mouth lights, voice changer, extra lights, and headphones that you can plug a phone up into and talk through your mask, I know you made one a long Time ago but you can make a easier cheaper diy one
JJ v97 oh yeah yeah
what if you tryed to make a nother chimney like thing on the top to suck out the excess smoke and feed it back into the machen or just despose of it that would help a bit...
Good job
I loved Leap Motion!
That one kid in arts and crafts class:
Really good video genius idea could you not incase it into a fish tank then have the smoke sucked from the top to recycle it back to the bottom ports to control the smoke loss maybe?
Cool build!
Yo you been dieing lately but im still ur #1 fan
Underrated 🔥
I tried this and it worked
WHOA
Use ultrasonic transducers to produce standing waves to stabilise your fog.
