On today's show we check out the PTR Pedals, a load cell Logitech pedal mod by www.PTracing.net. Tommy and Shaun have raced on these pedals for a while and it's time to tell you exactly how they perform.
Thanks for watching and please visit our sponsors at www.iRacing.com, www.tamiyausa.com and www.gamepod.co.uk

all the latest mods for G27 seem so deadly of its lifespan!!
    I guess I will stick to my non-customed G27 :)
Thanks for the review and your hardwork though... :)

That I am not sure about, you could mechanically use parts of the PTR mod but one is a load cell the other a pressure sensor. So electronically they would conflict

Hey Tom I know this is an older Video but why did you not simply place a skate board 84 Duro bush in the spring housing or the optional one to take up a little more space thus transferring the force to the load cell earlier in the travel, limiting the free play and allowing you to put the Pedal pad up near the top giving better feel. with pedal lengths like this 1/4 to 1/2 inch is the MAX amount of free travel you want, and if you want it firmer then place a sliver of that black rubber between the pedal frame and the load cell making the cel harder to flex. Think outside the box boys !!
Now the reason the hybrid system here is in fact not a hybrid at all but mechanically the same as is used in ALL Load-cell type systems require a small amount of free play to replicate a Car pedal BUT needs to stiffen rapidly to allow the Load Cell to do it's thing, Look at the DSD, CS Canon etc and to a lesser extent the HPP work basically the same converting a known force into a repeatable known voltage that the various simulations read as input.
They don't give a toss what we do to get that voltage input .
Physically these arm extensions give you less force because they are longer which translates to much better feel and precision , looking at this kit the block for the brake base length should be much longer and for preference come with a set of blocks to tip the pedals up slightly
The way the load cell is employed in this unit is very smart having the Cell mounted at the top of the arm and the spring acting on the flex end remember this is exactly how ALL this type of unit works ! it is just achieved a little differently mechanically that is all. and IMHO how these pedals should have left Logitech.
The weakest point in this add-on I believe is in the cutaway for the clevis on the Load Bar that fits to the original spring chamber. This could allow more fatigue flexing of the main upright eventually leading to a failure.
Lastly the lateral movement , get rid of the nylon pivot bushes and use steel screw the pedals to a decent base plate and drop the original cover over them . done :p

How can it possibly be better than CSP if it doesnt have the vibration??

@simracingtonight No I mean just remove the load cell that came with the PTR pedal arms and use the PTR pedal arms on the perfect pedal without using the other loadcell. Its just a mechanical change not a software adjustment.

Yeah I suppose one could do that, it would give you more levrage and make the perfect pedal seem lighter. But one could use those arms or make their own and accomplish longer pedals which is nice.

@tilus75 Vibration should come to another dimension soon as the SDK should (finally) be released soon. That means more supported games. Also driving with socks you feel the vibration. That's another story with shoes, I agree. And even with socks one could like it vibrated more (but I guess this should be easy to mod).

great work as usual guys, just wondering how would you compare these new modded pedals against fanatec pedals?

  • @izagury
    @izagury 13 років тому

@tilus75 I can feel it. It helps me a lot to feel when my tires are locked.

At the price, wouldn't a CSP set be a better buy? Maybe even a full Fanatec setup?

Hey shaun can you use PTR pedals and the perfect pedal as a combo?

@tilus75 high quality, ultra durable, magnetic contact, brand new pedal set, with warranty.

You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means.
Good review, look forward to every time I get to fire up an SRT segment!

I'm sorry...but most of the mod videos you guys do, the mods are expensive, so throughout the videos you are excited for using them but at the end, use the con of "expensive"...it's like you guys are having fun using this stuff given to you to review, that we can't afford to get lol.

    Modding games = Good
    Modding hardware = Bad
I'm happy with my G27 as it is and when i need an upgrade i'll buy a completly new wheel and pedal set. For the cost of these wheel and pedal mods you could buy a new fanatec or thrustmaster and still have your G27.
