- What's up, people! I'm back with another a-ha reaction from the Live in South America DVD audio, and this time we listen to "Touchy!", originally from Stay on These Roads (1988). So join me for another example of the wonderful, enhanced flavor of live a-ha. Cheers!
Also I recently set up a Patreon, so anyone interested in supporting what we do on this channel through donation can go here. Cheers! / shnootz

This is the only Touchy I recognise, lol.
👍😄🎶
I am only going to recognize the jam section myself. The rest, I can forget still. 🙈🙉🤣
I know the band vowed never to play this song live again after this period, but that was a legendary performance. Still greater to come though...
What ? never again ? Any reasons why ?
@@UnhandyCandy280 I don't think they even wanted it included on the album. I think Warner wanted it. They never played it live again since the early 90's I believe.
@@theMaster... I know it was an offering for a more radio viable song to WB (who asked every album for another take on me). A shame really, it's so good live !
They did play it again live
@@markwebster7435 Phew. I thought that was it. I know it's not inspiring or deep or even particularly epic in any way but i just think it's a fun bop !! Glad it was dusted off gain.
5'43"... That note from the chest voice!!! Oh my lord! 😉😅 I really like the funny-funky-groovy-blues atmosphere of this live version of the song. It gives me the feeling like I was in the middle of an electrifying blues show at the Montreal International Jazz Festival on a warm July evening and... that I surely couldn't resist dancing... 😍🎶
My heart fluttered when I heard Matt say that they really could have been a blues band if they wanted to. Yes.....💞💞💞💞💞
@@shelld1261considering morten was in a blues band called soldier blue before he joined a-ha
@@markwebster7435 Yes he was. 🥰 Also how amazing Pål is on the guitar and Magne with the Organ. They have the sound down well. 🥰
Epic performance of a song I rated as “lightweight fluff” when I first heard it released as a single from album Stay on These Roads…but this version is ROCKING! Love Mags harmonica section, and Pal was on fire on guitars too…even before mentioning Morten at his vocal peak!! ❤️
Hello, I just wondered if you could shed some light on something as a singer. At 5m40s in the video Morten belts that note out. It sounds like he starts in his chest and then ends up in his head voice... is that a fair assessment of that (or am i thinking i know more about vocals than i do ?)
@@UnhandyCandy280 Yes…you’re spot on in that assessment. It’s really just a rapid, and fluid ascent up through the scale, and in an accomplished singer…like Morten is, it’s relatively easy to do and the transition will be seamless between the chest & head voices.
@@marjoriemcbride6557 Thank you for replying. I thought so. Like Pal was playing Morten's vocal chords like a guitar string, low to high. Thanks again.
This is my "worst song". I was brave and listened all the way through for I saw people saying the live version was amazing. That jam session rocked for sure! If I never hear the song again though, it would be amazing. 😂 Sorry🙈
That’s magne on the harmonica
Love it!
What a performance ! Much more interesting than the original version. Big a-ha live.
Totally agree with you! Fantastic performance and version! 😁🥰🎶
@@sylvieouellet212 Me too !!!!
This song, on the original album, is my absolute worst song. I really have a hard time with it. I was brave and listened for I saw people saying the live version was so much better. Well, that Jam saved me for sure. If I could just fast forward to that part somehow....🤔That part freaking rocked!
@@shelld1261magne did say touchy worked better on video lol as in the music video. But yes the live version rocks. Demonstrates how the production choices in a studio can have such an impact on how the song ends up sounding.
@@markwebster7435 Yes, not a fan of the video either. It’s not how I like to picture them. No offense to those who like it, just not a song or video for me.🤷🏻♀️🙃
Matt thanks to you, I want to watch this DVD again 🙂 What energy they all had at that time ! 🎸🎶
What a great live performance of Touchy! Good luck with the uploading of previously blocked tracks! Mind you, those were OK at first and it was a while before they got blocked, so it could be a 'red herring' if the H&D ones are accepted straight away... 😮
I really loved Touchy when I was little! And it still makes me happy! This is a very nice live version with lots of energy!!!
😊❤🎵🇳🇴
This is an album track i never skip. It's fun, pure and simple. Catchy !! catchy you !!! (see what i did there). However this live version is something else. It is the live version of this song with little difference but that is just to reel you in (and it does). Then...Pal goes nuclear on the guitar solo and i love it. Harmonica break ? Love it. Harmonica guitar battle ? Love it. Touchy ! Live in SA ? Love it !!!
Did i mention that i love this ? No ? Love it.
Oui Vey.......Yikes....this is my "Worst song". So, to me, it sounds like it does on the album, then they do this freaking AWESOME jam session, then it sounds like the song on the album again. Is there a way I can just have the jam session, please? Sorry🙈
4:34!!!
It's all very good, my man !!
This is how they turn a "bad" song (in my ears) into an amazing performance. 😊 I can't find any fault with this Live in South America recording, not even with songs that were always at the bottom in my list.
So this is another one recorded in Brasil, Porto Alegre. This is what Mags says (in Portuguese) just before the jamming session: "Vamos, Porto Alegre, batam palmas!" 😁 Which means "Come on, Porto Alegre, clap!" And they clap, indeed. 😊
Don't forget to check my a-ha folder, Matt. 😉
Man....Sophia, I tried. I really did. I sat and listened to the WHOLE thing! I mean, I really had to. I seen so many comments saying how much more amazing this was. You listened to your worst song all the way through. Well, it sounds like the original till the jam session. Then it rocks and kicks butt! Then, it goes back to the album version to me. If I can just have the jam session part, that would be cool. I can do without the rest, unfortunately. If I never hear this song again, THAT would be amazing. 🙈😁
@@shelld1261 Haha, I am amazed you tried. 😁👏 If you feel about this one like I feel about FF, there's nothing you can do. 😝 I know I will forever abhor FF (at least until my brain is not damaged), and you just can't explain it. This one (I am trying not to name it for your sake 😅) for me is at more or less the same level as You Are The One, Cry Wolf, Take On Me... The ones I usually skipped (but not anymore) but then enjoyed the 90s performances.
Hi Matt and our A-HA community I hope all are well. I liked touchy on the stay on these roads album it’s very cheesy but I enjoy it a lot more live. Ive never heard it played live before. It sounds amazing. Matt I really enjoyed Savoy’s track on Wednesday too I couldn’t comment because my internet connection kept cutting out on me. Take care Matt and fam. Catch you on the next one. 😘 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER❤️🇳🇴❤️ 🥇🥇🥇 🎸🎹🎤 🫠🥰🇺🇸🏴
