    Not sure why not just do 8HP. They are becoming a more popular transmission swap with more aftermarket support.
    There’s a reason why BMW M cars have gone with the 8HP line instead of DCT now.
    With how far modern torque converter transmissions have become, there’s no reason to go with DCT anymore compared to 10 years ago.

    • @pabloalarcon3580
      @pabloalarcon3580 Годину тому

      8hp It's cheaper to make and mass produce. Higher end cars such as a Lamborghini huracan come with only a dct trans, no converter variant. Dct revs higher, produces sharper shifts, overall a more race oriented option.

    I hate to be one of those stickler to details but...their is no Japanese version of an LS just like their is no US version of the 2J/RB or just straight 6. We have inline6's and they have V8s sure but not anything equal to named motors.

    • @socalguy829
      @socalguy829 10 днів тому +4

      early 1UZ motors make just as much as any LS when boosted so what exactly is the point you're trying to make? If I said the Barra is the Aussie 2J that would be equally valid

    • @mrsquirrel8079
      @mrsquirrel8079 10 днів тому +1

      @socalguy829 You don't need boost to make power from the LS. Also, the major advantage of an LS is how compact in physical size it is thus making very easy to fit in almost any platform in any configuration.
      The barra is more of an aussie thing vs the 2jz being available around the world.
      What "commercially available" Japanese V8 you know if can make anywhere between 450 to 600whp that's compact and have insane aftermarket support?
      Same question to the US about a commercially available straight 6 that has excellent aftermarket support? Remember, barras are an aussie thing only.

    • @wanabevideographer1613
      @wanabevideographer1613 10 днів тому +1

      @@mrsquirrel8079the commercially available japanese V8 is the UZ platform hands down, straight down to reliability and power. If you look in South Africa and the middle east, you'll see the UZ platform being used throughout.
      In the US, our equivalent, or rather the closest thing, for inline 6 with easy tuneability is the Duramax

    • @mrsquirrel8079
      @mrsquirrel8079 10 днів тому

      @wanabevideographer1613 ok, I can give you some points on diesel engines as a common performance option inline 6....
      Any motor you boost will make plenty of power. However, UZ motors reliable as they are will not even come close to an LS in NA form or dollar for dollar to make the same horsepower. It doesn't have the aftermarket, pedigree, versatility, and maybe even availability (I may be pushing it with the last one) as the LS

    • @N4CR
      @N4CR 10 днів тому

      @@socalguy829 they are also wider, heavier and larger undressed than a fully dressed LS, i've put them side by side before.
      They're not really comparable. I can make 500 wheel on an NA LS3 with minimal mods, you can't really do that with a 1UZ.
