if you have a soldiering gun you can easily attach it into the back of the cigarette lighter that's there and will use the fuse from that if how ever you want to run a new line to a fuse they sell adapters for fuse boxs and u can plug in anywhere
Does it get hot wrapped like this when tablet is under load ? It seems quite suffocating packaging. Removing the lithium batteries is maybe a good idea for such project. Nice view and functionality for you don't need to get newer car just for the touch panel and few other extras! Combine this with BT OBD tool and you get some gauges and other useful readings on the screen. This is one of the best upgrades for older models one can make himself and for a reasonable prise! Good job!

Dimitar Totsev Hey can you can just show some pictures of how you did the fuse box? I'm sure you know the stock accessory plugs remain on when the car is off.
I'll try to take picture but if you google car fuse tap you will see how I did it and I've used fuse slot #31 it shuts off when engine is off

Love the vid but wanted to know if the battery dies or is disconnected for any reason, since you took controls and plate off will u have to re install everything to take it off safe mode.
It happened to me once. I had to disconnect the battery. All you have to do is to put the panel back just to power on. No more than 5 min.
so how do i make a tablet turn on or "wake up" when power is on... i know you used an app but when power off it ahutt down or sleep?

Hey bro I have another question, can you play the tablet radio with the car off?
I know the volume controls (on the wheel) don't work unless the key is on.
The radio defaults to 8 on the volume level when the radio is turned on, there is a hidden setting to turn this off.
Do I have to have the key in accessory to play the radio and control the volume from the wheel? I have a large capacitor so I'm not worried about my battery but I was wondering.
If you are doing it the same way as me you are not going to be able to listen to music because there are not physical on off switch on the radio (I removed the panel) .Plus the way I set my tablet is to turn on when I turn the key

Yeah but I wouldn't really care much about a USB media input if I can stream most media + internet radio or could insert a memory card on the tablet and
you cant really stream newer movies or shows, unless you pay hulu, or whatever site .and takes a bunch out of your data plan... but its not the point,
there is a lot more than just usb, for this, you could just have a mount , instead

Yes you can control from the volume from the screen. There are few application you can download,
only issue is how loud u can get it audis have a auto volume adjust built in with a max of 15! you can buy a preamp and use that on max settings or do what i did and requires a tad more skill i cut my face plate down and removed my volume and power button and moved it to the double din

Jason Rene I would use FM transmitter
dont use a FM transmitter unless its readily accessible due to stations will over power and cause distortion. they do sell a few adapters that work and plug into the back of the radio but by far the tape is the easiest

It all depends on your charger. I'm using 2amp charger. Once I fully charge it and plug it to my car the battery never goes down. Bear in mind that I drive no more than an hour a day.
if you are able to can you install ampere(from playstore) and tell me how many mAH your android tablet gets while charging in your car ..i have it on my 2 amp charger ,,and your the last chance for hope..if you do this i will be thankful ..thanks man i too live in the sunshine state cheers!

There shouldn't be any force while you are removing the panel. Make sure you have removed all of the screws.
