Brilliant Just a few more tips on how to do this Job which takes time but is not difficult really. Watch all the Videos on this first As you dismantle the washing machine take video or photos at each stage before you unscrew things, disconnect wires or unbolt things, that way you won't be struggling when it comes to re assembling the machine. more is better than less, trust me. Before you cut the drum mark the drum with a Sharpie pen in several places this will aid re assembly, and drill 4mm holes at about 100mm (4inch) centres all round the lip where you are going to cut, you can buy a long, 4mm drill bit, 120mm long from Screwfix (about £3.00 for 2) while you are there buy the 4mm Stainless lock nuts (£3.00) and 30mm long Bolts (also about £3.00) You might need to buy some Vernier Calipers to accurately measure the old bearing sizes, more on this later. When you are drilling the holes test the first one with a nut and bolt to make certain you can get it in and do it up you when you come to re assemble, this will prevent you from drilling in the wrong vertical plane. Cutting the Drum. I opted for using a hacksaw, which will cut all the way round the drum, I have power tools but you are in better control with a hand tool. It took just under an hour, quick tea break included. You will need a waterproof sealant when you put the drum back together. I used Aqua Mate Sealant.(£5.00) Knock out the outer bearing first, so from the inside out, using a metal drift, it takes a bit of whacking before it comes out. Then from the outside knock out the inner bearing, the water seal comes out with the bearing when you do this. Now you have your bearings and seal out measure them with a good mm rule or the Verner capilers, you need, inner diameter, outer diameter and thickness in each case. I then ordered them from Wych Bearings (about £20.00 the lot)on line. I did this job in the morning about 11.00 and so was able to just get them the next day just using standard first class post. There is a helpline if you are not sure what you want. I put the new bearings in the freezer for a couple of hours (Metal contracts in cold) and kept the drum in the sun (Metal expands in heat) to make it easier to knock them in .follow the videos for this but use wood blocks because any metal on metal blows will damage your new bearings. Use loads of sealant on the drum before you put the two bits together. Line it all up and put in the nuts and bolts you have plenty of time to do them up tight. I let my drum and sealant cure for 24 hours after, but it can be done faster I think. Then just re assemble it all. Hope you took enough photoes......!!!
Many thanks. A successful bearing change on my machine, which is the exact same one as in the video. I'm glad attitudes are changing to a less wsteful society now. If the fix hadn't worked for any reason, I would have bought an Ebac machine. English-made and fully repairable.

When you see the videos on UA-cam from third world countries where they have no choice but to improvise a repair (and they are successful with it too) here we are urged to discard and replace. and with manufacturers designing units this way to discourage your average DIY enthusiast, not good @ all. Great job, man! My suggestions for this operation : Door seal removed from chassis, not from tub (much easier to put back after), remove the water level sensor from chassis, otherwise you can damage it when extracting the tub; - never put down new bearings to the ground, dirt can get inside the bearing, reducing life. Also, first clean out the place of the bearings inside the drum, until you seat back the new bearings. The bronze ring which comes in contact with the seal must be examined, it could be worned out, so the new shaft seal won't seal enough and water could leak inside, if it's worn out, you need to replace it either put a speedy sleeve over, otherwise in a few months the bearings gonna fail again. The secret tip - older washing machine had a small hole in the tub, between the seal and the internal bearing, for the purpose of draining out the small amount of water which can leak in through the seal. This hole is not present on current tubs, but you can make it, with a 4 -6mm drill, which point from the inside to out, in the heating element's direction. This can add a few extra years life to bearings, since these are failing due to water which leaks to the bearing. Also - we use red silicone, which isn't as harmful, and also resistant to hot water and chemicals, we use 5*25mm stainless Allen screws with washers, they are easier to mount. And put first 4 screws to guide the two halves of tub on joining, without tghtening, and after 24h put the rest and tighten.
Also, keep in mind, that cutting the tub you will loose 1 - 1.5mm from the tub's dephts, so you must fill up the cutting surface at least this amount of glue, otherwise the drum can touch the door seal (not the case of Indesit, since the drum is about 5mm back from the rubber, but AEG - Electrolux machines got smaller gap.)

I was told by whirlpool that because the tub was sealed you could never get a new bearing etc and the tub would cost me around £200, which is very uneconomical. I sourced a bearing manufacturer gave them the bearing number..... £6.00 + VAT...Result. Always quote the bearing number and you can get a new bearing cheap as chips....
Thank you for the time and effort you have put in to helping others. I'm disgusted my Indesit has only lasted 2 years and they haven't even made the poor quality bearings more easily replaceable. I feel like giving this a go because I refuse to pay them £225 for a new drum!!

Mines working great 3 months after fixing it by drill, cut, sealant and re bolting. the bearings were a (4 hours of pain) to remove, but you get what you want. be encouraged to try.

Such a shock to see you need to cut your drum open. Not done a bearing in years and grr what a eye opener. I had ago at cutting mine open and once apart noticed more damage to the drum. Thought shall I just tiger seal it and have my fingers crossed and hope it works and is good but it's now on the scrap heap
I have just given up on mine. It's a Hoover DYN8+. I cannot get the seal to be watertight. I have tried several times using a variety of sealants and mastic compounds and used over 20 stainless steel bolts around the perimeter but when I fill the tub with water to test it there is always a couple of small leaks. Part of the problem is the that on this particular machine there is hardly any room to get the bolts in, it's as if the flange isn't wide enough to make this type of repair feasible ie it's designed to be welded from the outset and not just a "screwable" tub that has been used without screws. Now having spent several days on the job (I am retired so have the time) I have given up and off to buy a new one. The winner out of this is my brother in law who has an identical machine and will inherit a lot of spare parts!
Commiserations Dennis, I assume the Seal you are referring to is the seal around where you have split the Tub and not the Bearings Seal. As i have stated in my video i used Gorilla glue because it expands as it dries, closing any gaps which had been overlooked, and yes i had to use tiny Nuts & Bolts as there is limited space in the lip around the rim of the Tub. Not much consolation @ this stage M8 but i suppose "nothing ventured" as they say. Regards.

Hi. Just did same job on my Hotpoint washing machine. But I've had one problem. My drum shaft is 35mm like yours so, ordered same set of bearings. But seal did not fit. My shaft has a cooper sleeve where seal is. So that seal from video was to small. And I couldn't find a set of bearings with good seal. Probably it's made on purpose, cos it's not designed for repair. Anyway I've ordered just a seal for Zanussi/Electrolux machines. Waiting for it now. Wish me good luck 🙂

Thanks for these videos, it's really helped give me the confidence to give it a go with our washer / dryer combo that just exploded in rust. One question though - how do you know what size bearings and seal to order before hand? My zanussi has the same problem, I took the drum out yesterday but the lip on one side of the tub has a very thin ledge, too thin to get a small bolt in there, looks like the manufacturers are copping on to this fix.

I have an expensive Bosch machine. Recently it started making a noise and I knew it was the bearing. However when I attempted to get repair I was told it was a welded tub like this and that a replacement part fitted would cost £480 from Bosch as the whole tub must be removed and a new one fitted. The Machine was about £600.00 This is deliberate. They don't want you fixing things.

The last time I changed bearings on a washing machine was about 20 years ago on an old Service machine. It was pretty straight forward. Today I learned the true nature of the business. I started taking the machine apart and once the drum was out it became clear that it was a sealed unit. I had no idea about sealed units prior to today. I have a Hoover DYN 8164 d. I couldn't find any information about which bearings I would need to get as a replacement. Anyone have a have any experience of this model? The drum is 41021082 00. It's a green disaster!

Not sure what size Bearings and Seal your particular machine has, I measured the old ones in from my unit (@) the Bearings sizes were; 30mm= outer, 35mm=inner and 38mm seal. Hi Felix, had the machine for two years before I sold it, never leaked over that period. Yes sometimes the Bearings assembly disintegrates whilst removing, the bearings outer ring is what you should be striking anyway. Good luck and all the best. Regards 😀.

The reason I ask is on mine it is closer to a T40 but it keeps slipping under pressure although neither part are rounded and I've tried a few different bits in case it was a dodgy part... Hi Nick, Thanx, Stuggled with the Seal myself if you watch carefully as it did not go in straight @ first. Not sure of the dimension of the Car Jack Cup which I used, this was two years ago. If you could find something to fit around the rim of the Seal, And strike it home, some grease may help. Regards.
He is not pulling or hammering or pressing the axle into the bearingsseat. I can see it clearly that he has got min 5 mm to go. I am trying now at trhis moment and i cant get it in its correct place. It is only 3-4 mm but i cant get it done.

mrvlhs Thanx Mrvlhs, Our original machines Bearings failed so I was shocked that these so called Eco-Tubs where not repairable which meant a new machine or a new £600 replacement tub. I had already replaced our machine however I thought there has to be a work around. After splitting the Tub and removing the Bearings and failed Seal I simply measured the old ones and requested a new set from an online Bearings supplier. Regards.

I am about to have a go at doing this job on a Hoover DYN 8144D but my concern is that I won't know the size of the bearings and seal until I get it all apart and no one seems to sell the bearing/seal kit as it's got a sealed tub. I guess I will just have to take measurements and contact a number of suppliers and hope that bearings/seals are available.

Hi, tried to carry out this repair and a brass sleeve on the shaft of the drum wrecked my seal, if I get this brass sleeve off with I be able to get another of the same seal and fit it without it leaking? Hi Dent Chaser, Yes. I have done three of these so far, one the seal was so badly worn that it damaged the Brass Sleeve. Measured and managed to obtain a Seal and Bearings for the inner. Kind Regards.

mines just gone ,,,i am supposed to have a 10 yr parts warranty so rang them oh no our fitters have to fit them ok how much for 1 hrs work 120 quid ,,, ok so send me the parts i will fit cant do that ,,so they make a sealed drum so they expect u to throw away the washing machine or the entire drum because of bearing failure ,,, and u wonder about our planet the throw away society has to stop...
Hi Phil, Strongly recommend that you persue this one as they are legally obliged to honour their warranty. Maybe contact Watchdog or Rip Off Britain television programs (if your UK). I have watch a couple of these videos , and I decided to have a bash at fitting new bearings to my Panasonic washing machine witch took all day , it now works perfect , I used a completely different method from this video , there are lots wrong with this method , I will just give three , 1 the gaiter that goes round the machine front must come off . 2 you should take the front of the machine off so you can take the drum housing through the front of the machine , 3 the nut that keeps the pulley in place is not its main job , it is there to pull the shaft on the inner drum into the seal and if this is not tighten enough it will fail and you will be back to square one , there is more and I will try to upload a video .
Hi Tricky, Congratulations on replacing the Bearings on your Panasonic washing machine. Tricky the Indesit washing machine demonstrated here is manufactured as 1: a spot welded housing unit so it is not possible to undo the front as there are no screws, so, 2: there was no need to completely remove the front Gaitor or Tub Bellows Seal from the entire unit. 3: The pulley will fall off its shaft if the 8mm torx bolt is not fitted. I'm giving this a go, got the drum opened, I am just a little concerned about getting it sealed water tight, I noticed you used PU glue, do you find that's the best thing to use? I drilled plenty of holes to ensure I can get plenty of bolts in I'm just worried about it not being watertight when I get it back together. Great video.
Thanx David, a common question, some people use Silicone or Resin. I used this glue because of its water resistant qualities and it helps to adhere the two halves together like the manufacturer had done initially. Gorilla Glue also expands as it dries filling any gaps missed. All the best David, hope you're successful. Regards.

You have already split the Tub so when you knock the bearings out measure them and the seal. The sizes for this machine were: 30mm= outer / 35mm=inner / 38mm seal. I saw a set on eBay that matched my measurements and also stated the model number. However when they arrived the bearings were spot on but the seal was different. Got it all back together last night hoping to test it later today or tomorrow. I decided to use PU glue as you have. Fingers crossed for no leaks. Thanks again for the great video.

Hi Akramlool, You can check the Tub for leaks while you still have the unit out, just pour some water in block the Sump and rotate the whole Tub. Regards.

Hi Tran, You have to request the sizes once you have measured the bearings. Just because they are from Indezit does not mean that they will fit. You are replacing the Bearings and Seal on a machine with a Sealed Tub, and as they are not designed to be replaced, THERE ARE NO BEARINGS SET LISTED OR CATALOGUED FOR YOUR MACHINE ONLY A. NEW TUB. Hence why you had to cut the Tub open. My method is to contact a couple of eBay sellers who sell bearings, and ask them for washing machine Bearings and Seal sizes which I had measured from the old ones. Never paid more than about £15.00p for the set either. Good video mate, made me cringe a bit when you were hitting the bearing so hard. Been doing mine today, 6 hrs later and I still not got the outer plastic cut away fully. Great video. My bearings have just gone (rumbling noise past couple of weeks and now oil on the clothes), so took apart and found it was a sealed tub. Have spent literaly hours trying to find the bearings on Ebay, but can't find anything that ties to the model. Any ideas how I find this out (I'm practical + okay with tools etc, but rubbish on a computer). It's an Indesit Eco Time Energy Saver 8KG Model IWE 81481 ECO (UK) S/N 209085226 30788300000 I know its a big "ask", but can anyone please steer me in the right direction? Cheers, Dave
Hi Dave, You won't find any Bearings sizes listed in any catalogue for your Indezit Washing machine because it has a sealed tub.which is not designed to be replaced. Not sure what size Bearings and Seal your particular machine has, I measured the old ones in from my unit (10:25) the Bearings sizes were; 30mm= outer, 35mm=inner and 38mm seal. Thanks Dave for getting back to me so quickly. Yep, I'd guessed after a while of looking that it may be because it's not classed a a replacement part, but nice that you have confirmed this. Got the tub apart, but wish I'd had an electric saw like yours - a semi-blunt panel saw was the best that I could muster today as I didn't think I'd get away with using my jigsaw (fear of twanging the inner drum). It took ages :) Wish I'd videoed the removal of the bearings as they were very tight and had to resort to using a lot of brutality, especially with the inners. Measured the bearings and they are the same as in your video, but I need to check the seal (will need to try to re-shape it as it was a bit buckled by the time I'd finished with it). No worries Dave, Cutting the Tub apart is the hardest part of the whole process, tried my Jigsaw also but found the big one easier. Dave the video has been edited to make it look easy, I also had to get lively with the hammer and cold-chisel to remove the bearings. The manufacturing processes should be regulated. Consumer right to repair etc. I think the EU is forcing manufactures to provide spares and cater for people to repair rather than replace from 2021, but it shouldn't have had to come to that.

Hi green crocs,have a indesit xwa 71451 and I know you've been asked quite a few times but am the end of my tether,am determined to get it working again.ordered off amazon because the picture of the bearings where exactly like the ones I took out , the seal has ball bearings in it so I thought I would gamble and by them but what arrived were completely different so sending back . The outer bearing has a 25mm diameter which Amazon sent me was right and the inner bearing which should have been 35 mm dia with oa size at 62 mm same as seal, I've looked on e bay but they don't give any sizes . The pictures right but comes up with part no co251855 and compatible parts numbers but this is same as Amazon which was incorrect. Can you please help me out I would be very grateful. Good video
Hi Simon, Had to measure the old Bearings radius, diameter and thickness, the seal also and then request these sizes from an online Bearings seller. You WILL NOT find a set of Bearings/Seal listed for your machine model as it is a sealed unit and they are not suppose to be replaceable. Simon your machine is not exactly the same as mine so you cannot use this as a guide for your specific parts. It is imperative that you measure the removed Bearings/Seal. Hope this helps. No they're not, plus it's the principle. Tubs are only welded by manufacturers to force you to replace them when the bearings go. It's something that will be probably outlawed in the EU soon. (Look up planned obsolescence)
Thats the problem with society.. replace it attitude. My mrs has a 2007 imac. The GPU failed. I didnt bin it, i reflowed the solder in the oven by baking the board. 3 years later and its still working. Any fool can spend money and buy new.

Just a few more tips on how to do this Job which takes time but is not difficult really.
Watch all the Videos on this first
As you dismantle the washing machine take video or photos at each stage before you unscrew things, disconnect wires or unbolt things, that way you won't be struggling when it comes to re assembling the machine. more is better than less, trust me.
Before you cut the drum mark the drum with a Sharpie pen in several places this will aid re assembly, and drill 4mm holes at about 100mm (4inch) centres all round the lip where you are going to cut, you can buy a long, 4mm drill bit, 120mm long from Screwfix (about £3.00 for 2) while you are there buy the 4mm Stainless lock nuts (£3.00) and 30mm long Bolts (also about £3.00) You might need to buy some Vernier Calipers to accurately measure the old bearing sizes, more on this later. When you are drilling the holes test the first one with a nut and bolt to make certain you can get it in and do it up you when you come to re assemble, this will prevent you from drilling in the wrong vertical plane.
Cutting the Drum. I opted for using a hacksaw, which will cut all the way round the drum, I have power tools but you are in better control with a hand tool. It took just under an hour, quick tea break included. You will need a waterproof sealant when you put the drum back together. I used Aqua Mate Sealant.(£5.00)
Knock out the outer bearing first, so from the inside out, using a metal drift, it takes a bit of whacking before it comes out. Then from the outside knock out the inner bearing, the water seal comes out with the bearing when you do this.
Now you have your bearings and seal out measure them with a good mm rule or the Verner capilers, you need, inner diameter, outer diameter and thickness in each case. I then ordered them from Wych Bearings (about £20.00 the lot)on line. I did this job in the morning about 11.00 and so was able to just get them the next day just using standard first class post. There is a helpline if you are not sure what you want.
I put the new bearings in the freezer for a couple of hours (Metal contracts in cold) and kept the drum in the sun (Metal expands in heat) to make it easier to knock them in .follow the videos for this but use wood blocks because any metal on metal blows will damage your new bearings.
Use loads of sealant on the drum before you put the two bits together. Line it all up and put in the nuts and bolts you have plenty of time to do them up tight. I let my drum and sealant cure for 24 hours after, but it can be done faster I think. Then just re assemble it all. Hope you took enough photoes......!!!

When you see the videos on UA-cam from third world countries where they have no choice but to improvise a repair (and they are successful with it too) here we are urged to discard and replace. and with manufacturers designing units this way to discourage your average DIY enthusiast, not good @ all.

My suggestions for this operation : Door seal removed from chassis, not from tub (much easier to put back after), remove the water level sensor from chassis, otherwise you can damage it when extracting the tub; - never put down new bearings to the ground, dirt can get inside the bearing, reducing life. Also, first clean out the place of the bearings inside the drum, until you seat back the new bearings. The bronze ring which comes in contact with the seal must be examined, it could be worned out, so the new shaft seal won't seal enough and water could leak inside, if it's worn out, you need to replace it either put a speedy sleeve over, otherwise in a few months the bearings gonna fail again.
The secret tip - older washing machine had a small hole in the tub, between the seal and the internal bearing, for the purpose of draining out the small amount of water which can leak in through the seal. This hole is not present on current tubs, but you can make it, with a 4 -6mm drill, which point from the inside to out, in the heating element's direction. This can add a few extra years life to bearings, since these are failing due to water which leaks to the bearing.
Also - we use red silicone, which isn't as harmful, and also resistant to hot water and chemicals, we use 5*25mm stainless Allen screws with washers, they are easier to mount. And put first 4 screws to guide the two halves of tub on joining, without tghtening, and after 24h put the rest and tighten.
Also, keep in mind, that cutting the tub you will loose 1 - 1.5mm from the tub's dephts, so you must fill up the cutting surface at least this amount of glue, otherwise the drum can touch the door seal (not the case of Indesit, since the drum is about 5mm back from the rubber, but AEG - Electrolux machines got smaller gap.)
Regarding the condensate drain hole: Did I understand this correctly? Possible condensate should drain off to the inner tub’s external?

I was told by whirlpool that because the tub was sealed you could never get a new bearing etc and the tub would cost me around £200, which is very uneconomical. I sourced a bearing manufacturer gave them the bearing number..... £6.00 + VAT...Result. Always quote the bearing number and you can get a new bearing cheap as chips....
Thank you for the time and effort you have put in to helping others. I'm disgusted my Indesit has only lasted 2 years and they haven't even made the poor quality bearings more easily replaceable. I feel like giving this a go because I refuse to pay them £225 for a new drum!!

Mines working great 3 months after fixing it by drill, cut, sealant and re bolting. the bearings were a (4 hours of pain) to remove, but you get what you want. be encouraged to try.

Such a shock to see you need to cut your drum open. Not done a bearing in years and grr what a eye opener. I had ago at cutting mine open and once apart noticed more damage to the drum. I have just given up on mine. It's a Hoover DYN8+. I cannot get the seal to be watertight. I have tried several times using a variety of sealants and mastic compounds and used over 20 stainless steel bolts around the perimeter but when I fill the tub with water to test it there is always a couple of small leaks. Part of the problem is the that on this particular machine there is hardly any room to get the bolts in, it's as if the flange isn't wide enough to make this type of repair feasible ie it's designed to be welded from the outset and not just a "screwable" tub that has been used without screws. Now having spent several days on the job (I am retired so have the time) I have given up and off to buy a new one. The winner out of this is my brother in law who has an identical machine and will inherit a lot of spare parts!

I assume the Seal you are referring to is the seal around where you have split the Tub and not the Bearings Seal. As i have stated in my video i used Gorilla glue because it expands as it dries, closing any gaps which had been overlooked, and yes i had to use tiny Nuts & Bolts as there is limited space in the lip around the rim of the Tub. Not much consolation @ this stage M8 but i suppose "nothing ventured" as they say.

Hi. Just did same job on my Hotpoint washing machine. But I've had one problem. My drum shaft is 35mm like yours so, ordered same set of bearings. But seal did not fit. My shaft has a cooper sleeve where seal is. So that seal from video was to small. And I couldn't find a set of bearings with good seal. Probably it's made on purpose, cos it's not designed for repair.
Anyway I've ordered just a seal for Zanussi/Electrolux machines.

Yes there is a Brass ring on the Shaft for the Seal. This can be heated off and a larger seal fitted.

My zanussi has the same problem, I took the drum out yesterday but the lip on one side of the tub has a very thin ledge, too thin to get a small bolt in there, looks like the manufacturers are copping on to this fix.

Good question, I think they only go by the inner ( shaft ) sizes however when ordering I always state the inner, outer and width sizes just to be sure, the Seal size also. All the best with your project.

I have an expensive Bosch machine. Recently it started making a noise and I knew it was the bearing. However when I attempted to get repair I was told it was a welded tub like this and that a replacement part fitted would cost £480 from Bosch as the whole tub must be removed and a new one fitted. The Machine was about £600.00 This is deliberate. They don't want you fixing things.

The last time I changed bearings on a washing machine was about 20 years ago on an old Service machine. It was pretty straight forward. Today I learned the true nature of the business. I started taking the machine apart and once the drum was out it became clear that it was a sealed unit. I had no idea about sealed units prior to today. I have a Hoover DYN 8164 d. I couldn't find any information about which bearings I would need to get as a replacement. Anyone have a have any experience of this model? The drum is 41021082 00. It's a green disaster!

I also brought a new machine initially, but this one triggered my curiosity, so I thought I would have a go at repairing it. Fortunately successful but not easy for everyone.
Indesit owned the Hotpoint brand until recently, they ruined the brand's reputation imo (used to be owned by GEC UK).

had the machine for two years before I sold it, never leaked over that period. Yes sometimes the Bearings assembly disintegrates whilst removing, the bearings outer ring is what you should be striking anyway. Good luck and all the best.

The reason I ask is on mine it is closer to a T40 but it keeps slipping under pressure although neither part are rounded and I've tried a few different bits in case it was a dodgy part... Stuggled with the Seal myself if you watch carefully as it did not go in straight @ first. Not sure of the dimension of the Car Jack Cup which I used, this was two years ago. If you could find something to fit around the rim of the Seal, And strike it home, some grease may help.

He is not pulling or hammering or pressing the axle into the bearingsseat. I can see it clearly that he has got min 5 mm to go. I am trying now at trhis moment and i cant get it in its correct place. It is only 3-4 mm but i cant get it done.

Thank you for the great video. How do you figure out what bearings to purchase before opening the machine apart? Because the tub is sealed, the assistance manual I found makes no reference to the bearings, just the tub.

Our original machines Bearings failed so I was shocked that these so called Eco-Tubs where not repairable which meant a new machine or a new £600 replacement tub. I had already replaced our machine however I thought there has to be a work around. After splitting the Tub and removing the Bearings and failed Seal I simply measured the old ones and requested a new set from an online Bearings supplier.

I am about to have a go at doing this job on a Hoover DYN 8144D but my concern is that I won't know the size of the bearings and seal until I get it all apart and no one seems to sell the bearing/seal kit as it's got a sealed tub. I guess I will just have to take measurements and contact a number of suppliers and hope that bearings/seals are available.

Hi, tried to carry out this repair and a brass sleeve on the shaft of the drum wrecked my seal, if I get this brass sleeve off with I be able to get another of the same seal and fit it without it leaking? It’s on an Indisit very similar to this one and I removed the same looking seal as you and fitted one that looks the same as the one you fitted. Thank you for your video.

Yes. I have done three of these so far, one the seal was so badly worn that it damaged the Brass Sleeve. Measured and managed to obtain a Seal and Bearings for the inner.

Strongly recommend that you persue this one as they are legally obliged to honour their warranty. Maybe contact Watchdog or Rip Off Britain television programs (if your UK). Seems as though the prefer consumers to purchase a new machine these days rather than repairing it, and then there's Landfill.

Yes 35mm. Just emailed a Bearings seller on eBay the sizes, Cost about £16.
I have watch a couple of these videos , and I decided to have a bash at fitting new bearings to my Panasonic washing machine witch took all day , it now works perfect , I used a completely different method from this video , there are lots wrong with this method , I will just give three , 1 the gaiter that goes round the machine front must come off . 2 you should take the front of the machine off so you can take the drum housing through the front of the machine , 3 the nut that keeps the pulley in place is not its main job , it is there to pull the shaft on the inner drum into the seal and if this is not tighten enough it will fail and you will be back to square one , there is more and I will try to upload a video .

Congratulations on replacing the Bearings on your Panasonic washing machine. Tricky the Indesit washing machine demonstrated here is manufactured as 1: a spot welded housing unit so it is not possible to undo the front as there are no screws, so, 2: there was no need to completely remove the front Gaitor or Tub Bellows Seal from the entire unit. 3: The pulley will fall off its shaft if the 8mm torx bolt is not fitted.

I'm giving this a go, got the drum opened, I am just a little concerned about getting it sealed water tight, I noticed you used PU glue, do you find that's the best thing to use? I drilled plenty of holes to ensure I can get plenty of bolts in I'm just worried about it not being watertight when I get it back together. Great video.

a common question, some people use Silicone or Resin. I used this glue because of its water resistant qualities and it helps to adhere the two halves together like the manufacturer had done initially. Gorilla Glue also expands as it dries filling any gaps missed. All the best David, hope you're successful.

You have to measure the old Bearings radius, diameter and thickness, the seal also and then request these sizes from an online Bearings seller. You WILL NOT find a set of Bearings/Seal listed for your machine model as it is a sealed unit and they are not suppose to be replaceable. You have already split the Tub so when you knock the bearings out measure them and the seal. The sizes for this machine were: 30mm= outer / 35mm=inner / 38mm seal. Yours may differ as there is no standard size.

I saw a set on eBay that matched my measurements and also stated the model number. However when they arrived the bearings were spot on but the seal was different. Got it all back together last night hoping to test it later today or tomorrow. I decided to use PU glue as you have. Fingers crossed for no leaks. Thanks again for the great video.

@@LosSerpent Nothing Ventured and all that Los Serpent, the old Bearings can be stubborn sometimes to remove. I used a Saw to split the unit because the blade is thin.Better luck next time.

You have to request the sizes once you have measured the bearings. Just because they are from Indezit does not mean that they will fit. You are replacing the Bearings and Seal on a machine with a Sealed Tub, and as they are not designed to be replaced, THERE ARE NO BEARINGS SET LISTED OR CATALOGUED FOR YOUR MACHINE ONLY A. NEW TUB. Hence why you had to cut the Tub open. My method is to contact a couple of eBay sellers who sell bearings, and ask them for washing machine Bearings and Seal sizes which I had measured from the old ones. Never paid more than about £15.00p for the set either. The bearings should look some thing like this:

Good video mate, made me cringe a bit when you were hitting the bearing so hard. Been doing mine today, 6 hrs later and I still not got the outer plastic cut away fully. My bearings have just gone (rumbling noise past couple of weeks and now oil on the clothes), so took apart and found it was a sealed tub.
Have spent literaly hours trying to find the bearings on Ebay, but can't find anything that ties to the model. Any ideas how I find this out (I'm practical + okay with tools etc, but rubbish on a computer).

You won't find any Bearings sizes listed in any catalogue for your Indezit Washing machine because it has a sealed tub.which is not designed to be replaced. Not sure what size Bearings and Seal your particular machine has, I measured the old ones in from my unit (10:25) the Bearings sizes were; 30mm= outer, 35mm=inner and 38mm seal. Just ordered the sizes off eBay via a bearings supplier.

Thanks Dave for getting back to me so quickly. Yep, I'd guessed after a while of looking that it may be because it's not classed a a replacement part, but nice that you have confirmed this.
Got the tub apart, but wish I'd had an electric saw like yours - a semi-blunt panel saw was the best that I could muster today as I didn't think I'd get away with using my jigsaw (fear of twanging the inner drum). It took ages :)
Wish I'd videoed the removal of the bearings as they were very tight and had to resort to using a lot of brutality, especially with the inners.
Measured the bearings and they are the same as in your video, but I need to check the seal (will need to try to re-shape it as it was a bit buckled by the time I'd finished with it).
Hopefully get this finished before the missus orders a new machine :)

Cutting the Tub apart is the hardest part of the whole process, tried my Jigsaw also but found the big one easier. Dave the video has been edited to make it look easy, I also had to get lively with the hammer and cold-chisel to remove the bearings. I had already brought a new machine prior to attempting this project. Hope you are successful with your project also.

The manufacturing processes should be regulated. Consumer right to repair etc. I think the EU is forcing manufactures to provide spares and cater for people to repair rather than replace from 2021, but it shouldn't have had to come to that.

Hi green crocs,have a indesit xwa 71451 and I know you've been asked quite a few times but am the end of my tether,am determined to get it working again.ordered off amazon because the picture of the bearings where exactly like the ones I took out , the seal has ball bearings in it so I thought I would gamble and by them but what arrived were completely different so sending back . The outer bearing has a 25mm diameter which Amazon sent me was right and the inner bearing which should have been 35 mm dia with oa size at 62 mm same as seal, I've looked on e bay but they don't give any sizes . The pictures right but comes up with part no co251855 and compatible parts numbers but this is same as Amazon which was incorrect. Can you please help me out I would be very grateful. Good video

No they're not, plus it's the principle. Tubs are only welded by manufacturers to force you to replace them when the bearings go. It's something that will be probably outlawed in the EU soon. (Look up planned obsolescence)

GPU failed. I didnt bin it, i reflowed the solder in the oven by baking the board. 3 years later and its still working. Any fool can spend money and buy new.
As a society we need to learn to repair instead of renew otherwise there will be problems for future generations
