Have you thought about using an induction stovetop. I have the single Duxtop 1800W which uses very little range to cook a full meal. It's compact, easy to clean, isn't effected by wind, will boil water in no time and is easy to micro adjust the heat for precise cooking all for about $75. It's ideal for EV camping with the added bonus of not being a fire risk.
I definitely want to upgrade to an induction stovetop as soon as I’m ready to get rid of my Coleman stove 👍🏻 Thanks for the tip on the Duxtop I’ll have to look into it!
I live about a mile from the Indio charger. I hope that they install some sort of L3 charger in Borrego soon. I really love spending time there, and an L3 charger would definitely increase my confidence to explore!
1) Did you make it up the Canyon to that knarly obstacle? 2) That area deserves a dedicated RAN Charging Stations 3) Check out the Oriflamme Canyon/Mason Valley Truck Trail which is on the way to Julian. Mother Nature picked up all the loose local rocks and boulders and threw them on Truck Trail. HA
There were a line of vehicles toward that obstacle at the end so we decided to just head back. Definitely would be nice to have a RAN charger in the area:) I’ll have to check out that Oriflamme Canyon trail sometime - thanks for the info!
@@ChargeOverland I just wanted to say thanks for your videos which have a special artistic flare as well. Your videos also help scafflold experience and money levels which I enjoy. Your efforts and information are inspirational. Thanks
Planning this exact trip in March! Do you still remember how much charge you had left when you got to Indio? Trying to enter from the east side of the park, drive thru fish creek wash, explore the sandstone canyon, and exited the west side via diablo drop off? The closest charging out west would be in Poway…
I had around 40 miles when I got back to Indio. I’d take advantage of the chargers in Borrego Springs if needed - they are only 7kw but could add a little range if you need it 👍🏻
Do you think I can go on these trails on my 21s? It seems like majority of the trials here are pretty calm. Specifically I want to check out sandstone canyon. There's one section that looks very tight - I've seen people having to drive on the wall essentially, to get by. Thanks!
You could probably make it but just be ready for a pretty rough drive. The trail isn’t difficult necessarily but very wash boarded and bumpy. Sandstone canyon doesn’t get too narrow til the very end so its definitely possible to check out most of it👍🏻
I’ve got all the info in the video linked below right around the 4:50 mark - link to the products you need is also in the description of that video! ua-cam.com/video/ZegZxXjkNJ8/v-deo.html
So far the coldest temps I’ve experienced are low 40s so haven’t had to use a heater - just layer up a few down blankets. Will definitely share an update if I need a heater for colder weather!
Yes it’s a Roam 95L Case! I keep it in the truck bed to store firewood and sometimes trash as well. I recently published a video on all the gear I have in my truck if you want to see everything I’m using👍🏻

Beautiful vista's great job in capturing the beauty of the desert
Thank you 🙌🏻

Definitely looking forward to when there are more L3 chargers in that area!

What wheel/tire combo do you have? Looks like an awesome trip
Looks like the stock 20" All Terrain wheels
it's the 20 AT bright option.
Looks like a few people already answered but yes 20” All-Terrain Bright👍🏻
hey great video - which phone charger are you using to get it mounted like that? it looks so seamless

Your spare tire looked perhaps like a non-Rivian spare (more cost effective perhaps). Is that correct, and if so, can you share more details?
It is actually the factory spare from Rivian👍🏻
Guys, keep campfires away from your vehicles and tents.
This is too close. You'll wind up with burn spots.
what is your box in the bed holding the firewood?
It’s a Roam 95L case 👍🏻
Do you heat the iKamper on cold nights? If so, what do you use?
So far the coldest temps I’ve experienced are low 40s so haven’t had to use a heater - just layer up a few down blankets. Will definitely share an update if I need a heater for colder weather!
What did you get the firewood out of? Is that some sort of box?
Yes it’s a Roam 95L Case! I keep it in the truck bed to store firewood and sometimes trash as well. I recently published a video on all the gear I have in my truck if you want to see everything I’m using👍🏻
