You are awesome. You saw some problems, saw the solutions, and fixed it ! Thank you for sharing your experiences at the school and for not being a conformist.
I know we haven't even met, but I'm so proud that you stuck with it after all that craziness AND won an award AND your student came in 8th place in the entire country! That's amazing. I'm going back for year 2 teaching, first year in high school, in a few weeks and I'm excited to see the kids. Cheers to a hopefully smoother and less eventful 2nd year for you!
🎉🎉🎉Congratulations Joey for ALLLL of your achievements. What an inspiration you are for up and coming teachers. I started watching PBD and stuck around to see Sophmore Swag. So Glad I Did.Tyfs!❤😊
Wow! What a first year! You’re perfect for this! Love your energy, compassion & zest for the kids & what you’re passionate about! They are so lucky to have you! I bet students are all trying to get into your classes! I don’t wish for anyone to lose their job but the counselor that came in and announced to the class you weren’t qualified as well that IT guy, need to be taken out of those positions. Some kind of power play was going on. But you got through it and came out on top! Lessons learned by all!
Joey, I have watched your PBD channel (love you and Tim) for a while but I accidentally clicked on this video. Its the first time I started TALKING TO YOU on TV because I was SO INVOLVED in your story!!!!! My word. Its simply crazy. Kudos to you for sticking it through the CRAP and coming out on the other side for the benefit for your students!
I’m so glad that you hung in there and it worked out. Your students sound amazing. Good luck with all of your equipment back in your classroom next school session.
Ugh! Fellow (retired) computer teacher here. Loved working with my students, they were a joy and the reason for me to go to work everyday, but OMG administration was the only part of my job that was anxiety-inducing!!! Hang in there, and congrats on your award! Oh and the (f'in) IT guys sound just like mine! I had the wireless discussion, too! Ugh I'm having flashbacks!!!!
Every teacher that has told me they are not coming back has never said "I can't deal with the students anymore". They never leave because of students. Right? Its always this crazy stuff.
Well done! especially for modeling good behavior to your students which I think will turn out to be a more important lesson for them going forward; I have always believed good teachers have a "calling" . Clearly you have been called to teach and your students are so lucky! Of course you, too, are lucky to be involved in shaping "OUR" future A most fulfilling way to spend your days here changing young peoples lives forever.
I love teaching. Outside of not getting paid enough and being under the thumb of a legislative body in our state that hates public school teachers, my biggest beef is with the school districts I’ve worked for. I’ve had great principals, coworkers, parents and students. They tend to move ineffective teachers and admin to district positions. Ugh.
Is 6th grade really that bad, WGU Student here. Just, 1.5 terms away from earning my B.S. of Secondary Mathematics. I will be the first person in my family to hold a degree. I have been a cooking in Las Vegas for over the past decade. In 2010, I competed in Skill USA representing Sierra Nevada Job Corps - Culinary Arts Class. I place 2nd in my category and what an experience that was. Congratulation's on all the support you had provide to your students during the year, the good days mixed with the bad ones... I always call rough days Character-Building Days and it shows that you had many of those days. I hope this year will not have as many difficult days. Teacher of the Year!!!!!!!!!! Round 2
Joey you know me..I am a big fan of Plant Based Dads. This video came up on my feed and I watched this video and subscribed! This story was amazing...a Rollercoaster ride for sure. I hope you know you are making a difference in the lives of your students in ways you probably can't even imagine. They will always remember the teacher who really cared and supported them. You are a blessing to them so #$!%$ the district and keep on doing what you are doing for your students! ❤
That's how Plubic School district are, I worked 31 years and they only cared about themselves.. If something happens that's bad, they always sweep it under the rug..
@@sophomoreswag You'd think they'd know better, and I'm sure the kids took note. But (sigh) the more I see of teachers posting with horrible grammar, less-than-ideal behavior, etc., it's embarrassing. Thanks for trying to model appropriately. The kids may not say anything, but they'll notice.
I love you all for supporting me. Leave a comment below if you watched the whole video and know all the crazy stuff I had to go through last year.

What a rollercoaster ride of a year! Glad you stuck with it, though. The kids make it all worthwhile.

Thanks so much. Yeah it was a crazy first year. The good news is I am getting all new computers. The parents complained and got the ball rolling.
I’m so glad that you hung in there and it worked out. Your students sound amazing. Good luck with all of your equipment back in your classroom next school session.
oh bloody hell! How terrible but glad it worked out in the end. You really deserve it! You're amazing.

Love the shirt! 👕 🦉 👩🏽🎓 💪🏾
Does anyone still doubt why we're losing great teachers? 45% of the schools in the US need at least one more teacher.

Welcome to education. It’s unbelievable that IT takes away old computers that can’t even connect to WIFI!
🍎❤
Height of unprofessionalism on that guy's part. As a matter of fact, a ton of unprofessionalism going on. The hoops you have to go through...
Right? During the class? Both times with two different guys? I don't get it.
