Possibly, it sounds pretty good, my R620F's definitely have a hole it their response that need to be corrected. Once I get additional test equipment I will be able to find out if a swap upgrade is all it needs or something of a redesign.
I have those speakers hooked up to an older Onkyo 5.1 receiver and a smart TV in my bedroom, but only as a 2 channel setup. You are right, after proper break-in they sound really good. I bought them at the big box store heavily discounted for just barely over $100.00 and that was about 3 years ago. I don't have your expertise and so the stock version, which is quite good, will do.
No they do not. They are super bright no matter if you have played them for years on end. You get tired of the sound they produce at about 25 minutes. Don't lie to yourself. You know you got swindled and you wish you had your money back to buy some Elacs.
@@pumapunkudevelopment3376 far from being super bright, what could I possibly buy for about $100.00 these days? They're about 7' apart and 5-6 inches from the wall and sound good, really good. If you don't like them that's your right, but, please, don't speak for me. Grazie!
@@pumapunkudevelopment3376 I happen to like them, he likes his and that is what matters. They are very good for their price point, not Elac price point. The Polks were right next to them at a slightly higher price and the Klipsch blew them away.
Nice Teardown. The components look nicer than I expected them to be. How much was this speaker at time of purchase vs what can I buy them for today? I don't expect this to depreciate in value much, but I have no clue
GM ☕️🍩🥶 I run the powered version of this speaker …and given a quality stand and carefull place my..there are surprisingly very good..without any assistance from a sub 😎
And if you want to get crazy add a sheets of Dynamat to each side wall, get rid of the chintzy poly fill and use nice medium density polyurethane foam.
Bienvenu! Agreed, and so much worse on my R620F's. The are excellent as home theater speakers, but always disappointed me with music, the R51 will be a stepping stone to the R620. I believe they can be made to sound much better than they currently do.
I know they pare back to keep the price low (they were under $149/pr on sale), but I think they also pare back the sound to encourage sales of higher models.
Great video. Keep them coming!!
Thanks, I will try!
Just changing out the woofer inductor for and air core, and adding some Solen poly caps would be an amazing upgrade.

I think $140 for the pair? I need to look that up. At that price the crossover could have easily been a cap on the tweeter and nothing else.

They are underrated, I hope some simple mods will give them more respect.

That is part of the plan, I could read a newspaper through that polyfill, what is that going to accomplish.

*Dynavoice Definition DM-6 + Martin Logan Motion 35XTi (15i)* 👈👍👌
Wow only one decent part on the crossover and that is the air core inductor.
It's still has more thought put into it than I expected. At this price point I expected a cap on the tweeter and thats it.
Very interesting ! the crossover is awful !! lots of improvements
There are a lot of upgrade videos on the Reference Premier series, but I think the Reference series would show a more dramatic improvement.
Cardboard port with no flared inside end? For what they sell? GTFO with that fatigue generator.
I know they pare back to keep the price low (they were under $149/pr on sale), but I think they also pare back the sound to encourage sales of higher models.
@AudioTomReviews I've yet to see the inside of the kef q150 to see if that's the same case.
