I will say that you have to be careful about taking kids climbing at an early age. Bouldering and scrambling are very free-form, self-directed activities which many kids love immediately, but roped climbing is a very structured activity with lots of waiting your turn... more appealing to the adult brain. Let them choose how much they want to do it, be receptive to their level of interest, and be open to whatever else they might be interested in... digging in the dirt, chasing lizards, playing in the creek...

Most of these moves come naturally to kids... It's when we get older, we lose confidence in our abilities. Kids are excellent, fearless climbers.
