What I like about this video you have a son that is interested in your tools ! That's how I was 40 years ago with my grandfather❤ now I'm 60 years old .I am a diesel mechanic with 20 times more tools than he had. And I love the way you restore your air Port Snap-on tool box
Thank you!! That setup has evolved over the years, so much so, that I had to get a larger tote. Nonetheless, I still have that box and I hope to feature it again, this upcoming year!!
I love this old box! My dad has an old Mac box, he got from my mom's dad, and will be left to me one day. It's almost exactly the same as this! I'm going to restore it, and have just Mac stuff in it one day. Also, love the kids being in this and playing around, and the old VW! I've had a few growing up, and want to get another one to restore one day as well. Very cool sir! Very cool indeed!
I have a Snap-On "oldie" similar to yours, and I made the same decision....not to repaint or restore. I preserved the patina, stopping the rust, and sealing the box with a semi-matt clear. I use it for storing fabrication materials. It's actually a box and cabinet. Good job on your project. I love the idea of the salvage cart !!!
I like your salvage yard box. Metal beats plastic every time. I appreciate your love for a good ratchet, but I think you could lighten that box up a bit with a few less in there. Cornwell for sure could be left at home. My road box has two 3/8 drive ratchets and one rebuild kit. I’m not sure if I’m going to load it down with a 1/2 drive set of sockets. Great video, love the kid pulling everything out of the box.
I agree with the thinning of the ratchet herd. I don’t plan on keeping that many in rotation, but since Wright Tool is a new channel sponsor, I wanted to have them ready for use. As for the 1/2” sockets/ratchet; I’ve needed them here lately, as I’ve been pulling bumpers, fenders, and doors, and my 3/8” simply don’t have the gusto needed to crack those fasteners. As with all things, refinement will certainly occur.
Yes they are! I’ve used their sockets and breaker bars in the past, and they worked extremely well. Should have a set of wrenches coming soon. Can’t wait to see how they stack up against the Snap-on
I'm planning a yard cart and it's completely out of control so far lol, I'm using a salvaged 4 wheeler chassis. Hopefully the yards are OK with that because I ruined a good hood trying to move it on one of their gratis but not very usable wheelbarrows. Great garage decor...LGB!
That's a really cool set up you have there, James. This video is the first I've heard about SK selling out. I'm numb. Figures considering l recently got SK torx sockets which l really like😨. Oh the other hand this is a really cool video and it's awesome to see the young one into the tools! Wright makes very good stuff
I think it will also. The salvage yard is rough terrain, and they plastic cart wasn’t going to make it. I was able to grab this cart for $76 at Northern Tool. Couldn’t be happier
Not a problem. Trying to publish more content, whereas before I’d been slacking. Motivation is the key, and sometimes the comments just take the wind out of your sails
@@MidwestToolReview hey man whole heartedly F**k those people. You do A great job I’ve watched for about A year you’ve justified many of my premium tool purchases being I’m DIY also. You enjoying getting new stuff and talking about it makes me happy.
Looks like your boy was more interested in the tools than anything I was the same way always getting in my daddy tools he would say you pick it up you gonna learn how to use it that why when I turned 18 I learned carpenter work wasn’t for me I was going work on cars and I been doing ever since
Yes I have actually. Hope to have that tomorrow. FYI, have you received your impact yet? I hadn’t heard anything about it yet. I know it shipped late, but you either have it, or be there this week.
If the kid is interested, get him his own tools. Grow him into a man by starting him early. The up side is he stays out of your box and doesn't lose your tools and he learns to take care of stuff. When he turns 18 give him a good set that will last him a lifetime..
My little guy has a full setup of tools at the tender age of 4yrs old. I’ve started him off with USA Made Craftsman, which is where everyone started. As you noted, I have a set of Snap-on already ready for him at 18yrs old. I want him to learn how to use the tools, in-injunction with respecting what he has.
@@MidwestToolReview Sounds like he'll be ready. I wish more men would be really involved in kids early life. I know growing up I spent time helping dad work on stuff. This really paid off for me when I left home at the age of 20. I'm no pro but I have pulled and replaced a motor in a car, do regular break pad changes on anything I drive, remodeled a bathroom, wired the electrical for a heat pump install, add circuits for outlets in the house and the list goes on and on. He taught me to think and use tools and much much more. One last thing. When I began to buy tools he told me to buy quality tools. You may spend more up front, but you won't have to keep buying something that keeps breaking. I remember that to this day.
Yea, I am also. I had such high hopes for them, seeing how they’re not too far from us, and have been here since the beginning. They were already falling off the map; they can ensure it’s certainly going to happen now!
Lol,, and yeah i really liked s and k but I'm not paying s and k price for the Chinese made s and k sockets lol,,, and your front fenders on your 1994 Chevy extended cab obs truck look alot better than mine lol, and my truck bed looks like most with the wheel well area over the wheel ate out but the entire inner bedside is ate out because it was a factory gm dura liner truck bed since it is a z71

Not surprised that the Hart tool cart broke. I’ve found that brands sold in Walmart are crap. Great video!
I love you, man!! I just bought this box, but a generation newer. You did an excellent job setting it up!! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this walk through - love that you are so patient with your son, brings back so many of my own memories. Love what you are doing.

Thanks for the vid. Interesting to see your mobile set up. Say hi to the kids! They added to the entertainment. Lol
Wright, is freaking awsome. Too bad they are not in New England so much.

Love the flags!
Thank you!! The plate on the front of the truck was custom-designed by me, and my friend cut them. If interested, I have a few more remaining.
Me too !!! I need a F Biden flag for my garage !!!
@@stevenb.182 but his coup failed, what you need is a Loser flag
You do have a lot of ratchets but I like this setup for sure. I appreciate you. Thank you for sharing
Love Wright tools. Great quality. Very sad to hear about SK I hope this isn't true but all the signs seem that way.

Wow we're spoiled out here in L.A.! My junk yard provides us with free use of a wheel barrel.
We have wheel barrels, but they are not plentiful. I’d say maybe 4-6 wheel barrels and a few carts, so I decided to get my own rig.
That's a really cool set up you have there, James.

Thank you! I’m not happy about SK selling out either. It sucks to see another great American tool company give up and cave to China!!
Loved this video, hi Joy, ok Bud put that back where it belongs, make sure you turn that off ! Hi Joy ! Lol love the tool box your , love your kids :)
Looks like the wagon will hold up better and a metal box better

Nice Video Friend --- !
*QUESTION* ; Where did you get that Cart ?
Northern Tool
I think you should restore that box so it looks brand new.
I thought about that, but this box is a survivor. It’s over 60yrs old, and I wanted to preserve that history, as opposed to wiping it away.
Have you thought about the liner or mat for the box?
Yes I have actually. Hope to have that tomorrow. FYI, have you received your impact yet? I hadn’t heard anything about it yet. I know it shipped late, but you either have it, or be there this week.

nice setup i have one of those awesome
I really like it. I do plan to get a larger one some day, but as you know, I need to get it for a “song” so until then, this one will suffice!

Think we need to hold a funeral for SK. It's sad what's happening with that as bad as craftsman
