Was born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland but moved to London, England when I was very little. Remember so vividly going up to visit family and putting a penny on the road and it rolling up hill - the joy of watching that happen has stayed with me for over 50 years. Ayrshire what a beautiful and wonderful place to behold.
The next time you go to the Electric brae take a bottle of water & pour it onto the road & you will see the water running upwards, I've tried it & it works.
I heard of one where child ghosts are supposed to push your car off train tracks, to prevent you from the same fate of their school bus. There's even a claim that if you put flour on the back of your car you'll find little sets of handprints after! Fun legend tripping that is mostly harmless if people do it safely I think.
Long time ago when I was Senior in High School I broke a farm out of the desert that was on a hill. I surveyed the irrigation ditches and fields. After we got the water running my Ag teacher came out to see it. "If I hadn't seen the water running the ditches I would swear you made them going up hill"
I understand perspective of it looking up hill, but do you not feel it with gravity (poorly worded) with how you're stood that you can tell it's downhill?
This happens on 22 Mine Road in Logan county WV too! Some people say it’s the ghost of Mamie Thurman, and others say it’s just an optical illusion. But either way, it’s still fun to do/see!
I believe it’s actually because of the car center of mass. The Action Lab made this experiment in lower scale and the object up a way steeper hill. Just type “ball up hill”, it will be the first video . Here in Brazil we call these hills “ladeira do amendoim” or “peanut hills”
It may be more than an optical illusion. There are more than four volcanic anomalies in a perfect line with this strange road. Two volcanic plugs, one is Edinburgh Castle rock, and both are the same width as the road. Perhaps it is these unknown energies interacting with the human brain. I have a friend who went to that road and couldn't understand what all of the fuss was about, as she could see the road going up or down in the opposite direction most of the rest of us see it. ua-cam.com/video/R9KwkbfjjSg/v-deo.html
We have a gravity hill right outside Frederick Maryland! There's a lot of local myths about "civil war ghosts" pushing your car and stuff lol. So you don't have to go all the way to Scotland to experience it
why are we so fascinated by it? because people want to believe there's more to this life! Unfortunately, the reality is this life is not nice for lots of people!
why, didn't you or someone, put a spirit level on the surface of the road? A long one,as long as you could find? Or put the long one on a long two by four that is straight. Claims, but prove it.

The second Dylan starts hosting again is the second I never blow off another video. Just look at how much your views have dropped to see that I'm not alone in this. Dylan makes not particularly interesting facts fascinating. Just his grin is worth watching a video for. Dylan, if you read this, please consider coming back in front of the camera. I, and thousands of others, will be so grateful.
"Here we are in Ayrshire, Scotland". Well, where else did you think Ayrshire, was? At least she pronounced it more or less correctly, more than most Yanks manage with British place names.
Someone's knickers is twisted...some of us Yanks can pronounce more British/Irish names correctly than many Pom's and Limey's pronouncing Stateside places so give it a rest

It rolled down hill😂
@@Theeirishman74 yes it was an optical illusion
Glad she explained it. Wise words, "We can't resist a good oddity." :)

Another very interesting video! Fun and informative!
We call that in Switzerland a "Lugishtutz", what means a "lying slope", we've got here around a few of them
It's great how she raises her hands to show she's not accelerating the car... 1:27
That was great fun. Thnx.

We have the same "story" here in PA
Sometimes tourists get propelled even more quickly up the brae when locals end up running into the back of them!
She is soooo beautiful!
We have "Magnetic Hill" in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada 44P6+C4 Moncton, NB
I looked it up on Google Maps. Looks like an interesting place.
There is one at Cherry Tree Hill, St Andrew in Barbados
It's not the only oddity in Ayrshire...
Yeah, there`s people there with deep pockets and short arms...they`re called Scots lolol
There's a little "gravity hill" near my home in south central Washington state.
Salt Lake City has a Gravity Hill as well
Also near THe Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs., Co.
Lovely scenery! Thanks for the video!
Be careful when playing in traffic.
Same as Magnetic Hill in Los Baños, Philippines
There is/was an attraction at Idlewild , PA that used Illusions like this so I kinda already knew what was up .
*_:P_*

Cool! Thanks for showing us this unusual place.

There's another optical illusion in the background
Look at the sea.
Floating island

I guessed that it was an visual illusion, but it is still very cool. 8-)
What an interesting place.

Чудесная ведущая, професиональная и интересная дикция.
What about a level?
IVE BEEN THERE
Just experienced one in Salalah, Oman. Upward or downward the car kept moving 😮
I was there last week, and it does look like you are going uphill!!!!
should of brought a level, you're adorable Bridget
I've been to one of these in Ramona California. Same sort of illusion.
Same thing happens at gravity hill in Pittsburgh, but at a much steeper angle
Locals: "Ach, ye tourist bastards, get off the road!"
We have a the same in Nova Scotia and we call it the magnetic hill!
It's one of them 'iptical ablutions'
What about that ufo on the horizon at 2:28. :)
She's great
I think you did another gravity hill video somewhere else at some other time that I don't remember.
See also "Spook Hill" in Florida.
Spook Hill in Lake Wales, FL
Went up this road with my mom and dad in 1962.
I get the same thing after 10 pints of beer

Also she was breaking Road Traffic laws - no sastbelt, operating a camera whilst in charge of a moving vehicle.
6 points and £200 fine the minute you touched that camera 😂😂😂
My dad talked about this once. He said it was an illusion.
Your dad was right.
why are we so fascinated by it? because people want to believe there's more to this life! Unfortunately, the reality is this life is not nice for lots of people!
There's one in China called the Sinister Slope, same thing.
Even Synthesizer Patel has a song about Electric Brae.
In Ireland we just call them magic roads and said the fairies did it.
There's another spot like this in Santa Cruz.
The Magic Spot ua-cam.com/video/Zq5oC_F7nf8/v-deo.html
Could have just pished on it for the same effect like we do

There was one of these tourist traps in NW Ohio near Port Clinton in the 60s. They went out of business when the magic wore off. 😏
the conventional answer is 'optical illusion'. unless you've thoroughly studied it, it's not something you simply dismiss.
No seatbelt!

Has anyone actually put a level on the ground?
If so, for the love of God could someone please share the link so I can get on with my life lol.
Is there a charging point in the stone? Asking for a friend!!!
Looks like it goes downhill to me
WOW! A car that rolls down hill. Imagine that.
Looks clearly down hill to me how can you not see it 🤦🏼♂️
Well thanks for another really cool thing ruined by 'science'!
I have a question. Why do we always have American reporters , just asking.
Bet its a crash hotspot for dummies who stand around in the middle of the road and park cars there too.
Mmm very funny playing on a busy road. I just saw a child 🙁
Beautiful girl .. .
