- In this video I'm once again working on my water well. This time, I have to replace a control box because the motor start capacitor went bad. I'm told that probably the relay is actually bad and caused the capacitor to fail, but investigating that will have to be a different video.

Replacing my control box today...old one is circa 2009 from what i can tell, not sure if previous owner replaced but it is wider than the new one so i can't make a lazy repair to mine.

Part of your problem may be that the control box isnt mounted vertically, that white relays orientation is supposed to be the screw facing up. also a bleeder resistor would not hurt especially if you are going to leave it on ground. a bug crossing connections while pump is off could fry the pump.
Outstanding feedback. I suspected as much, but I was really thinking more about the control box sitting in water on the ground. Neither the bug or water in the control box is an ideal situation. The entire thing needs to be reworked... "in my free time"
The best thing to do is to put a 2 hp box if you don't no the box you have doesn't go over a 1hp that size if it's always been that size there it a 1hp after that the box is way bigger. I no your problem is the on and off it kills the capacitor check your switch is it clean no rust in the inside and your pressure tank what the air pressure it the pressure tank it the blue small tank. I see your problem the ball float was making the line air hammer so the pressure switch would click ever time put a snubber under the pressure switch would help prevent it from burning up I have been trouble shooting for about 10 years and working in pumps for over 20years or a time delay hope that helps 💦👍✌️👌🍻⚒️💯
