- Naples, the gateway city to the south of Italy. In this first episode of my documentary series Rhythms of Italy, I meet with my friend and musical polymath @hermanoluca who is a musician, composer and author. Together we take a musical tour of the city and we explore the ingredients of what the makes music here so unique.
Rhythms of Italy is my documentary series exploring and uncovering the remarkable musical traditions of the Vesuvius area in Campania, Southern Italy. The music of this volcanic land are underpinned by the thundering rhythms of the tammorrra, a giant tambourine that has been played here for over 2000 years.

Awesome episode, I loved how integrated and integral the pagan traditions have become in Naples. They really add to the duality that Luca was referring to. Do you think you'd dive more into the pagan traditions and the trance like states the drums were used to induce? I suppose percussion is such a big topic you could spend your life studying it, as I'm sure you will.
