I remember in 1997 and maybe a couple of yrs before in the U S as I was/am in Australia, It was Tool, Korn, Seven Dust and Incubus who were part of the new sound after Grunge had died. (Incubus sounded different initially to what they became later) Smashing Pumpkins was on that list too but were more commercial/radio friendly.
It is criminal how little views this has and how little recognition these guys get. They are all absolute beasts. Morgan's energy is out of this world and he's crushing that kit. Clint and John are genius song writers and innovators of their trade. LJ's vocals are unrivaled and Vinnie is pounding out those killer bass lines. Sevendust fucking rules and are massively underrated.
I think the ultimate insult I've seen so far is 7D opening for Nickelback at a show nearby back in 2002. I got comped tickets and still refused to go and that was during their prime "fuck shit up" days too. Animosity era shows were some of the best performances I've seen of theirs (Lajon lighting up joints on stage etc). God I miss even seeing them live. This being a responsible adult shit sucks heh.
@@skinnyb8230 youre fucking mad... free tix and still bailed because nickelback i went and saw three days grace open for them during their self titled album tour, dont regret it either lmao (nickelback didnt even play bad either lmao and they covered a pantera song)
Unfortunately, that's the way it goes in the fucked up world that is the music industry. I agree with you, though, they were so much better than most of their contemporaries in the late 90s/early 2000s. I remember seeing them at the Warped Tour in '97! I remember they did a cover of "Walk." Great show!
The bowling shirts with flames going down them…you know it’s the 90s!! I remember when the album with this song released, at the record store you could NOT find it anywhere. The row where Sevendust would be was always empty and sold out. It was this way for weeks and months. Crazy because there’s very few other albums I can remember that were that sold out for that long even at popular record shops. Great band!
+SWEGTA You kidding? Better late than never. Black was released almost 20 years ago, and changed my life. Sevendust was amazing. They still are, but their recent albums are of varying quality. Their first, Sevendust, was raw but awesome. Animosity is my favorite, though. I can and do listen to that one all the way through, and it never wanes in quality.
They were all pretty good songs! Thanks for sharing them. Do you know of any heavier Sevendust songs? I feel like the slow melodic chorus is cool and all, but I yearn for something angry and heavy.
Denial, Face to Face, Waffle, Too Close To Hate, Leech, Terminator, Licking Cream, Rumble Fish, Fall, Corrected, Splinter, Unraveling, Scapegoat, Lifeless, Born To Die
I remember seeing them at a small venue (Fresno California Fairgrounds) aroun 1998 or 1999 when they opened for Megadeth. The lead singer lit a joint, puffed it, passed it to the crowd, and jumped out and got floated. The whole concert and mosh pit in that little stadium was epic. I'll never forget that, one of the coolest concerts that I've ever been to.
That tempo kept getting faster throughout the whole song. That’s the kind of energy you got back in the day before everybody started playing to click tracks!
All these guys were in their late 20s and early 30s when they performed this. It’s crazy how old they look now. 20 years feels like 5 years. Black, Bitch and Too Close to Hate. Incredibly songs.
Im 40 been into Sevendust since i first heard waffle on the radio, seen them live a few times, im a welder and always play music at work and have probably played more sevendust in the past two decades than 99% of people on earth. All i really want to say is considering the full scope of all ive seen in my life up to now, i have to say, Lajon is one of the coolest people ive ever been aware of, fuqn LEGEND!✌️
I saw them live a couple years ago in Denver, his voice, and their show is still just as good today. That is one of baddest motherfuckers in rock and roll.
Lajon said it himself people of 2019 first world countries, “there’s too much love to see color, I don’t see color.” Until people keep calling each other black and white and etc well truly never join together.
Sevendust and Coal Chamber were the first "big" concert I ever went to. I was 11-12 and my parents took me. Was 97 or 98. I'd been to shows of local bands in my area but they were the first touring bands I ever saw.
Most underrated rock band ever
@M they still kick ass today, just, with a little more arthritis

I’ve seen them live 3 times, so fucking good.
Couldn't agree more brother
Facts
Sevendust are what Nu-Metal should've always been about. Having a good time, delivering a high-octane energy show with an explosive punch.
And then Limp Bizkit came along..
mazscsu but there’s also korn which is amazing and we’re basically at the start of nu metal
Slipknot ??
@@oldgamerevival6019 Nobody knew who Slipknot was at this point.
@@troywilson4694 they did when ozzfest 99 came around that year

It’s probably there best song
Lajon sings with such emotion, that’s what i like about his music. Definitely an underrated band.
But he’s black, so there’s that.

Limp Bizkuit fucked the whole festival
one of my favorite bands pisses me off they should be huge
Metal is loosing its strong hold even in the great detroit rock city. It needs to come back with hellish intent.

My favorite band and I don’t care they’re not big. Means we get better live action

woodstock 99 - im only 12yrs old and watching this in 2019... I like this band - Sevendust is good.
Such a good underrated band, these guys are great live!! Singer has a amazing voice
A lot of people don’t know how good of a guitarist Guy Fieri was when he played in Sevendust
😂
Where the hell has this band been all my life?
Love it!

This is hands down the ultimate forgotten band/song of the 90's for me. It goes so hard in the sound and message. Timeless!
Seeing this band live is absolutely exhilarating. The 90s ruled.

Funny my older brother went to see Megadeth that same tour and he walked in hearing Sevendust set and thought he was at a neo-nazi rally. 🤣
Such a powerful voice, that energy is insane
Lajon is a beast. Such a great, underrated band
From Woodstock 99 to diners, drive-ins and dives!!!!!
I think having a black frontman in a metal band is cool as hell and Lajon has a great voice! One of the better voices in metal.
WesleyAPEX he'll yeah fuckin yea!!!
WesleyAPEX he'll yeah fuckin yea!!!
He's super sexy too.
I can't think of any better way to beat racism than have musicians of all races perform
That voice is as metal as it gets
When are us indians going to be in sevendust band?
beautiful incredible voice. powerful and crazy range. clean screams. top shelf man.
I never get tired of listening to these guys!! Oh and the girl at 1:50 has got the twins out
That tempo change at the end…… OMG. 😎. Brother gets down with beautiful energy! 🎯

Idc what anyone says man these guys have always been dope asf and still are
The energy is off the chart
Can’t believe it’s been 24 years! Kick-ass band.

Sevendust kicks ass and more people need to know that.
"When I close my eyes I see no color"

That's weird cuz I do.... specially when I'm trippin bawlz😎👍
Back when burning mix cds was still a thing i used to LOVE throwing this track in the middle of chill mixes as a random shock treatment
Holy shit! I really like the bass in this version
Listening to this song all morning at the gym. I grew up in this era and love the progressive metal that came out of it..
when the beat drops the bassist goes absolutely nuts!!!!!! fucking sick
drummer too!!!!!!!!!! goddamn! fucking legendary performance
Yeah, the guy in the booth noticed that too... and immediately turned him down in the mix. Lul.
@@DirtyDadJokes Lajon gets cut during the 2nd chorus too lmao
I know damn well they are having more fun on the tour now then they were back then
It can never be the way it was before y'all. America needs u guys right now.😢
