The way this film is received makes me realize that ultimately we are suckers of morality. The woman is depicted as someone who remained true to Deepak even after his death. This is what we celebrated: the restoration of morality. So basically, she knows how to indulge in someone within boundaries. On the other hand social definitions of morality creates those boundaries. However, she denies a society that creates morality. That's a philosophical crisis but not social one.
May be he is trying to say that on one hand she says she doesn't care much for the society and then again she is confining herself within moral boundaries created/defined by that same society.
May be she's not following social norms of morality by remaining loyal to her husband even after his death. It is possible that she still hasn't healed and is not ready to move on yet; just testing the waters from a distance before mustering the courage to lose her heart to love again. Everyone has a different way of coping with their loss and pain. We can't judge.
The moment she said cheat day or moment cannot be enjoyed daily .... which clearly means she loves to live with his memories but on the same hand she is human and have her own desires too but in boundaries.. even though she would've moved on if she'll find someone but she chose to stay like that depending on that one cheat day.. maybe the writer was trying to show the unbreakable bond between the two of them, that she is okay like this only even if she has lost him... basically, for her love was enough more than her human desires...
yeah but also Chirag was lied to....he got excited about seeing a couple with different perspective on morality and marriage but the truth is Maya would never go for this cheat day if Deep was alive

After all what is gone will not come back and as we only this 1 life, why we want tears and anxiety, when we have all resources to liberal and happy. I didn't really get it, but I watched it again ... then cried a lot! *SPOILER*. When she goes home to her 'married life' - you learn there is no person ... just audio recordings of their previous conversations. He had a terminal condition and they started an experiment to meet other people and break their attachment, he encourages her to continue when he is gone, and possibly wants her to move on. After he dies she keeps the 'boundaries' and sanctity of marriage intact. She is judged for being immoral and disloyal, but the opposite is true, she stays committed to him even though she no longer has to. So sad.

When she goes home to her 'married life' - you learn there is no person ... just audio recordings of their previous conversations. He had a terminal condition and they started an experiment to meet other people and break their attachment, he encourages her to continue when he is gone, and possibly wants her to move on.
After he dies she keeps the 'boundaries' and sanctity of marriage intact. She is judged for being immoral and disloyal, but the opposite is true, she stays committed to him even though she no longer has to. So sad.
