    I have called the pads "foot locks" for quite a while. Since the Patton came out people have made foot lock extenders or just entirely new foot locks. I figured that this lowered pedal kit would make the standard foot locks semi useless so a kit would be a good idea indeed. Thanks for your impressions!

      {tl;dr} This! ...this is exactly why these companies need to change their business model to offer an "rent/lease to own" option where you can build equity in a version 1 wheel and return the wheel if it's not free/freely upgradable to a version x wheel. This way, there's no reason to delay buying a wheel because you know that the sellers/manufacturers will stand by their product. And, when you do come across that mythical 'one wheel to rule them all', then you can pay-off that loan and ride into the sunset for at least a decade or two.
      It cost KS and IM far more in delayed/denied sales than was made in total sales made. The retailers would find this model to be very profitable since they can either become contracted service providers to support this much more elaborate infrastructure model or they could decide to take the finance/insurance role and capture the interest/maintenance fees while creating a reconditioned EUC market to sell to new users or price sensitive markets. I just hope they don't fuck up the marketing like they've been doing all along.

    I’ve got the lowered hangers with Nylonove pedals and it feels pretty good so far. Can’t decide if I prefer the lowered height or not? Going to put a few hundred miles and swap back to compare. They do add stability but it feels less nimble and carvy in my opinion. Definitely adds some extra height for seated riding, which feels excellent now for a tall guy. Great video, Marty!

    Tried the Patton for the first time yesterday and my Lynx is on its way, even when riding in 1° c in snowy and icy conditions I didn't find the pedals at all slippery, could it be my nubby shoes interlocking with the pedals or do you have to do trails and jumps to notice?

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 місяці тому +2

      The degree of slipperiness comes down to how you ride. If you are pushing and twisting your feet to accommodate the riding conditions, your feet will tend to slip a lot more than if you had proper spikes.

      The difference is subtle - slightly more stable with the pedals lowered and a feeling of not standing so tall. It's very subjective. I would say that if the existing pedal height doesn't bother you, don't bother lowering them.

    Two thoughts:
    - why don’t euc designers allow user to adjust pedal height? Are they worried that people will screw up the balance? It seems like such an obvious customization option.
    - why would raising heel and toe be a good thing? Beside flattening your foot arch, which isn’t appealing to me, if you want better leverage.. seems like raising the middle makes more sense.

It was just the fact that it's a shame that the UK EUC scene is so lacking that UK EUC vendors are sending parts to the US for review. I wish we had the sort of EUC community that the US has, as well as a UK tuber of Marty's stature so that Afeez didn't need to take this stance. As I say, I totally get why Afeez did it, thats business.

      We call them "pedals" and we call the things they hang on the "pedal hangers". It might not be 100% accurate but that is the term we use and I don't imagine that will be changing any time soon I'm afraid.

      @@SamClegg Just talking semantics, we say a lot of things that don't make literal sense, but that's how the cookie crumbles, no point crying over spilled milk. English is an interesting language and on that point given its English and not American, I think we should have the last say 🙂
