Buy cucumber seeds vs buy an organic cucumber in the grocery store and use those seeds? Pros and cons? You get WAY more seeds in an actual grocery vegetable (100+) vs 20 or so seeds in the packet.

Great tip! I have done this... Something I may be concerned about with a store-bought (or seed-saving from an actual veggie, even if I grew it) is if there was cross-pollination. This would produce a slightly different genetic mutation in the seed, which may not be a big deal if the flavor is still good. I'm always up for a good experiment! I've grown bell peppers that way, but the plant ended up producing dark purple to almost a black peppers. The flavor was a little off but not horrible. Another issue may be if the growers of the produce purchased in stores, sprays something on them to prevent them from germinating. Those may be a couple of cons... I have seed-saved from my produce I've grown before, like my melons. This year, I'm excited about the seed-saved Honey Bombs and Campari Tomatoes that I purchased from the store. Both have AMAZING FLAVORS. This year will be an experiment to see if the flavor is still there! Thank you for your question/suggestion!
