I don't know what's in the water in Australia but there is no question that the country has produced two outstanding cover bands. 🇦🇺
We're only 26Million, so to even get a look in on the world stage, we need to try hard to be good enough. These 2 bands are world class....but the best thing about Australians is we don't take ourselves too seriously.... which is why they are genuinely enjoying themselves, as ther craft another tribute to loads of our favorite songs.
Both bands were born and produced in this basement 👊🏼🦘

No one constructs a song better than @Producernerd - the way that Zkye builds the story through another stunning vocal and the blended vocals reach the crescendo is something to behold - as is Tzan's execution of another slick lick - not hard to believe that this collaboration keeps delivering given the talent that gathers each week in Darren's basement 👏👏👏🎤🎶👌

I do remember this song probably as early as '84-'85. I'm turning 50 in a few months (can't believe I'm admitting my age. LOL)

What a fantastically talented team of musicians and a very special singer. Turn off the video and you would immediately think that Carly Simon was singing this. Zkye is an incredibly versatile singer.

"Daughter of a gun" Zkye nails the look, the vox, everything. Harmonies and arrangement, especially piano is epic. Love it.
When I heard the bass and piano intro (and on a real piano!) I couldn't believe this wasn't the original recording. This song tells an interesting story and the lyrics are every bit as important as the vocals. The singer is amazing, she handles both with polish and conviction. The guitar solo was even gutsier than on the original and that wah wah, what a nice touch! Drums, bass and rhythm guitar were in perfect sync and the tinkling of the upright piano keys throughout gave it the sort of authenticity that distinguishes a great performance from an average one. Terrific listening experience!
Such a good track. Perfect voice from Zkye. Shaun with his apricot scarf - I didn't get the clue, just thought he had a hickey! Mario smashes it out. Tzan added the second layer of the chorus vocally. Damo just swings in happiness watching his love sing. Darren is just Darren all over. Harley isn't very vain. Beautiful. Kudos from Matty x

All the nuances... the syncopation... is there. It's a cover, but it has that Sing It Live spin. I'm glad that Darren chose the analog piano for this 1972 standard. Everyone is excellent, of course. Zkye doesn't try to emulate Carly, she puts her unique art into the vocal. Thanks to Carly Simon for keeping the secret for so long, then finally revealing that at least part of this song is indeed about Warren Beatty. This Texan looks forward to our weekly musical lollies from Adelaide!
I loved what Carly said when she revealed that. She said the first verse is about Warren, but he is indeed so vain that he thinks the entire song is about him! 🤣

Zkye was the perfect choice for this song. She maintained the familiarity of the original while infusing it with her unique vocal style, bringing a fresh and captivating interpretation. Many cover bands struggle to achieve this balance. A+
Just as I'm going into my Friday night for the upcoming weekend, Sing it Live always sets the tone... This one takes me way back to the mid 70's. Y'all do this to me almost every weekend with all these great old songs from my past, I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas in 1958. There wasn't a better time to be born than in the 50's. The quintessential song from Carly Simon. I still have the album which I bought when I was 17 or so. Zkye just has such a great timbre in her voice. The production stays true to the original, but equally the whole group just adds these extra ingredients which make the song just that bit richer and warmer. Love it!

So many things to love about this. Darren, acoustic piano was the right choice for this, and you've got the pickup mic(s) dialed in just right. The EG tone on the solo parts is perfect. The beginning bass riff had me rewinding and relistening. Tight, and I mean tight vocals. Carly Simon is a legend, but I have to say, this cover does the original more than justice. Bravo SIL.

My favourite Carly Simon song - and this version by those Adelaide Aces in SingItLive have basically resurrected an old tune, brought it back to life and kicked it out into the world, where it belongs once more. Another amazing cover from all involved, my wife often has to listen to the new one each week while we are in the Kitchen and she often makes little comments about how close or far away from the original they are but this week she wasn't sure if it was actually a version by Carly Simon, so consider that high praise indeed. This is it. TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN! This is an identity presentation. I love every aspect. First of all Ringo Starr on rhythm is to die for. This is worldly cool on a eccentric scale that can not be outdone. This presentation is top of the mountain, it can not be outdone. I can be anywhere listening to this, and watching it the same. This has an Alanis and Glenn Ballard effect we hear and see from jagged little pill. It's barely a cover because there is so much personal touch. With this the basement does not exist. This is Bay Area in the '70s. An original presentation. There is story in the atmosphere leading up to this performance and after. Not in the basement, but in the spectrum of artists. The Aura is in time and the stars. The wheel in the sky. You captured it. Bravo 👏
