Great Video guys! My clinical experience with "resistant starch" is that it spikes blood sugars just as much as regular starch. This has been with diabetics eating cooked potato/rice/pasta after it has been refrigerated for 1-2 days and then eaten. Spiked blood glucose just as much as freshly cooked starches. I was also very underwhelmed with the existing research. Diabetics beware!

My son was a type one and he taught me that if it looks like a carb, it's a carb and I should treat it as a carb. Every single one of the 'low net carb' fake foods made him spike.
I do use potato starch to thicken gravy. It doesn't take much. But I still count it against my carb intake.

He does say, that if you want it on KETO its from the "potato flour" the bag he is holding there - and nothing else.
I was hoping cooled off potatos might be an option, as some homemade cold potato salad could have been a nice thing for a BBQ party.
But it would be interesting if the result was the same if you only used the powder. If you think there is some benefit to it....

The percentage of resistant starch in a cooked and cooled potato is still rather low (mostly regular starch) the percentage of resistant starch in that bag if eaten cold should be close to 100%. Your comment isn't relevant but it does highlight the complexity of the issue. Lots of foods if cooked then cooled get hyped as having resistant starch and being lower glycemic but doubling the level of resistant starch from 3% to 6% of total carbs doesn't make a huge difference on blood sugar response.

According to a staff member at Bob’s Red Mill, this brand of Potato Starch is NOT a resistant starch. On the Bob’s Redmill Q&A page, “Diane C” asks the question, “Is this potato starch also resistant starch?” Staff member Serena S responded by saying, “Our Potato Starch is not resistant starch. The process of removing the starch component from the potato eliminates any resistant starch benefits.” Her answer is dated Dec 18, 2017. “Diane C” asks the staff member if she is sure about her answer. This time Diane C references Dr. Mark Hyman (Eat Fat Get Thin diet book), who recommends Bob’s Red Mill as a resistant starch. And again, the same staff member reassured her statement that Bob’s Red Mill Potato Starch is NOT a resistant starch.

I’ve seen that as well. However a large number of studies used this particular starch as a resistant starch and showed clear results that it works exactly like a resistant starch.
So whether Rob’s Red Mill company says it’s not it seems to act exactly like a resistant starch.

I am not using it for a digestive issue, I started taking it as I read that it assists with decreasing insulin resistance. I have been taking it for almost a year now and my ist Blooos Sugar reading has come down from 140 to 120 and my overall BS numbers are in the 110s as opposed to 120140. I also have found I sleep much better and it deadens my cravings when I am doing intermittent fasting. I know some are sensitive to this as they might be with potatoes, but I checked and it didn't affect me as it does to some.

I just bought like 4 bags of this stuff. I must have a gut of steel cuz I started with 2 tablespoons, now I'm up to 4. I definitely am noticing a positive impact on my digestion and satiety. It's so versatile I use it to thicken my iced coffee, it makes bomb salad dressings with apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, water and a couple drops of stevia, and.... this maybe overkill but I add it with almond milk to my oatmeal w/a banana! 😅 So far no cramping, bloating, (actually quite the opposite) and no affect on my bowel function. Let's see how this plays out.

About 6 months ago my fasting blood glucose just jumped for no reason. I've been prediabetic now for a decade and my fasting number was always 101-105. That jumped to 118-125. Since diabetes runs in my family I decided to try this. For over a month my fasting number see-sawed up and down; sometimes 95 and sometimes 111 but, that was a significant improvement so, I kept it up. It's now been 10 weeks of taking 1 tbsp after breakfast and 1 tbsp after supper. I do check my fasting blood sugar every morning. My 30 day average on my monitor is now 91. For me, this has been a lifesaver. Due to differences in individual physiology, your mileage may vary but, since this is a benign product, feel free to make your own trial.

Since it feeds the bacteria in your gut, I believe the effects of resistant starch depends on the microbiome you already have. So it could be really good for some people where as it could be a nightmare for others. Best way to get the most out of it is the harder way - which would be a deeper analysis of your current microbiome followed by gut work (to increase the good bacterial or bacterias that can use resistant starch) then introducing resistant starch. Great video!

I have been pre-diabetic/diabetic for 15 years. I am currently on metformin and following a low carb diet. My A1c stays between 5.7 and 6.2.
I test my blood glucose between 3 and 8 times per day. I tried resistant starch for three weeks. Two weeks of cold starch from foods and one week of the powder added to water twice a day. The result was a 25 point increase in my average BG readings, under both schemes.
I was working with a dietitian back then and she kept insisting that the positive results would start "any day." They never did and things went back to my normal in about a week after I discontinued the starch.

One of the most important benefits of eating resistant starches is it feeds the good bacteria in your colon and is responsible for the production of butyrate (Butyrate is a type of fatty acid that helps your gut work right.). Butyrate is like the superfood of the colon. Increasing butyrate levels has many health benefits. It promotes cell health in the colon, reduces inflammation, and decreases your risk for colon cancer. Having good gut flora (gut bacteria) is so important for your health.

@Jeanmarie Todd yes, butter is the only food source with high amounts in it, there's some in milk and other dairy products, that's why we don't need fiber, fiber foods are not nutrient dense and mostly can't get digested, most is insoluble, by eating fiber we habe to wait for our stomachs to create butyrate, but we can directly get it from butter and skip all that, u think that's where it gets is name from butter

Holista you do not look like you need to lose weight unless that a old picture just to let you know if want to get toned on a cheating way witch will work can not drink not even any type of drugs plus tobacco take HMB supplement it has to be a trusted brand EAS or Muscle Tech it works when you maybe to strict on your diet take protein mix it has to be wheyprotein mix other protein mixes does not help because it mainly is soy if if is not ( Whey) use honey and water if like through some oranges in it. All this will help you to keep plus gain muscle you will be very toned your husband should do the same but warn you it is expensive HMB if buy any other brand name because cheap you going to get the cheap stuff meaning it won't work. Any how this is a fact once you do this you will see trust its a great cheat cheat i call it but have to hit those weights take your protein right after and later on eat a solid meal with those pills after you digest your food do stair climbing high intense add weight to your body like a weight vest keep your ankle weights on thru out the whole day its only for fifteen minutes then take protein mix right after then take weight vest off keep ankle weights on when ever go to sleep take them off. All that is 45 minutes of weight lifting to boost your metablisiom on a outrage and later 15 minute of stair climbing high intense you will lose only fat and gain muscle as will as stamina. If have any questions let me know. All that been said will happen period.

    • @StrumentoGearon
      @StrumentoGearon 4 роки тому

@@anitagraf4865 The amount of resistant starch changes with heat. Green bananas lose some of its resistant starch when cooked. I am not sure if cooling them will help much since the "damage" has already been done, and even if there is still some resistant starch retained, the cons of having a rise in blood glucose and insulin level caused by the initial heating may outweigh the benefits if your goal is to control blood glucose.
It is best to consume the green bananas raw if you do not want to take the risk. Or just do a blood glucose level test after consuming such cooked then cooled green bananas to find out if there is any impact to your body.

    Matthew 11:15 KJV
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell?
The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.
    1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
    John 1:1,14 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us,
    1 John 3:8 KJV
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
    Hebrews 2:14-16 KJV
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. [16] For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
    Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.

    Acts 16:30-31 KJV
...what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    1 John 1:8-10 KJV
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

I wonder if butter (butyric acid) and potato is such a great combination for this exact reason... the starch feeds the incoming butyrate and thus accelerates all of these positive effects.

And everything that was made by man has to contain starch as a binder. But starch is carbonic acid.
    Beverly: Wheat is carbonic acid?
Dr. Sebi: Definitely. Any grain that is made, corn, wheat, rice, these things are starch. Starch is not a food. Starch is a chemical. Starch is what you use to separate region. I did because I’m an engineer. I understand how to use starch. Starch is not a food.
Beverly: So it’s manufactured, those wheat, rice and carrots.
    Dr. Sebi: They are manufactured.”

1 tblsp = 10g carbs, frankly I'd rather eat an apple for the same amount of carbs. That's 20% of my daily carb allotment. There's got to be something more to this resistant starch. Others have reported resistant starch spiking blood glucose just as much as natural starch.

Never heard of people drinking potato starch. I just use it for cooking and making sauces. So if I cooked the food and then let it go cold, would I get the same benifit?
