What people are calling cheaters now is a misnomer. Every time the subject comes up you hear the same names and their intent was not to cheat it was to read the rules and look for an advantage that the rules did not specify were illegal. Every thing with rules is the same when competition is involved. It is why Nascar became what it was, I say was because it is dying before our eyes as other racing series have done and will continue to do as long as the rules change it would seem weekly now. It's what lawyers do every time they take a case and why the judicial system is a nightmare now. It's why laws are loaded with loopholes to be exploited. Those same laws/rules are in that fine print that no one can read without a magnifying glass and patience.
When I used to hear " if ya ain't cheat n you aren't trying hard enough " I just didn't agree. I have however changed my prospective because I was niave and didn't realize how prevalent it was. It just kills the flow. Like I said.. It's going to take a lot for me to not want to watch or listen, but Mike is definitely a reason why I might consider it
If you aint cheating then you aint trying.
Brilliant is what Chad is....like mounting shocks upside down at Dover, so they bounce UP to catch more air in the corners........its as brilliant as raising the floor on the 24 T-REX car...
John Hammond, the T-Rex car had so many controversial aspects, in it, that NASCAR banned it and it never turned a tire on any NASCAR track again. Ray Evernham also used chemicals on the #24 car's tires so that once they heated up, they became far stickier than all the other NASCAR race car's tires.
@@sergeantmasson3669 what's this about the tires? I remember Jack Roush accusing them of soaking tires, but I don't remember anything coming out of it
@@djmohab2 That's why Goodyear now mounts/balance all the tires for the teams ahead of time for the races. No tire sets are pre-assigned for any teams anymore.
@@djmohab2nothing did that guy is just a moron
Smokey Yunick led the way forward how to beat the rule book. The rest is history.
Junior Johnson was another innovator ahead of his time.
@@howabouthetruth2157 Smokey Yunick cheated almost constantly. So much so that NASCAR forced him out in 1970. Junior Johnson also cheated but nowhere near as much as Smokey Yunick. NASCAR modern era, the most cheaters are Ray Evernham, Chad Knaus and the HMS team.
The basketballs in the fuel cell come to mind….😜
Hey Chad, do you remember the guys at 280 paint and Body? Stanley Smith would send you guys over with a car on Thursday morning and want it back on Friday afternoon!
Philepe Lopez, Todd Foster and You. You guys are awesome.
Just a shout out from a guy that didn't make it like y'all did.
RIP Stanley Smith.
holy hell, i live right behind 280 paint and body haha
This man is like no other🐐.
Mike talks way too much when they're in the middle of a good ass story that doesn't involve him
It’s not cheating; one guy just knows how to read the rule book better than everyone else. 🧐 ☺️
Such a cool guy found ways to win by the rule books 📚 working around it LOL
Sometimes I wish MIke would just be quiet and not say anything.
Amen
Agreed. I feel like some guests get annoyed with him also.
Every rule, regulation, or law has a loophole, you just have to find it.
My asks: If episode number can't be included in UA-cam title (this is ep. 322 on Spotify), at least do this in description. Next, link full episodes in UA-cam description so I don't have to go googling and possibly never get there. Lastly, where can we watch full episode videos, spotify doesn't have dirty mo video? Or just publish full episodes on UA-cam too, well as all major podcast platforms?
Luv all of u guys 💯🏁
I have said it for years. Jimmy Johnson would of been nothing without Chad knaus. He was the reason why jimmy won so many championships.
Kind of like Ray Evernham and Jeff Gordon.
@@Racer57 Gordon won a championship and some 40 races post evernham lol. That’s a hall of fame career on its own
@@sirdaddylops5398 Of course it is, but its not to the level that Ray and Jeff were together 3 championships and 47 races in 7 years. After the split, Jeff only had 1 championship in 15 years and had 46 wins. It took him twice as long to get similar amount of wins and 1/3 the Championships.
The NBCSN TV version has captions of some of the different aspects Chad's life.
So Brad (I believe it was him) was right when he called Hendrick out all those years ago.
When I was in a V8 Supercar Team part of my job was to find the grey area of the rule book
Always liked honest Chad
9:13 lol “i dont know where to go!”
Absolutely the best NASCAR TV.
I love this show but Mike has got to stop he pretty much just repeats jr. Then blurts out useless things almost ruining the interview I think they could do without Mike.
Does anyone know what year they switched the shops from 5/88 and 24/48 to 48/88 and 5/24?
2010 or 2011, because i remember kasey and jeff being in 1 shop and jr in the other shop
Hey. Y’all should start posting where this is at in the actual podcast. Sometimes I just wanna listen to part of it without listening to all of it
What people are calling cheaters now is a misnomer.
The rule book is just source material for crew chiefs to get creative. If they’re not creative, they’re not in nascar long.
When I used to hear " if ya ain't cheat n you aren't trying hard enough " I just didn't agree. I have however changed my prospective because I was niave and didn't realize how prevalent it was.
Teams that were racing by the rules didn't have a chance to finish in the money sometimes barely making the field are forced to imitate or vacate.
I’ve never read the NASCAR rule book, but how many rules have a “Chad Kraus rule amendment “?🙂
Not as many as Smokie Yunic.
@@davefroman4700 I'm sure we'll add in Ray Evernhamn in there too and the rule book got to be like the grinch's heart, "it grew three sizes that day." 😆
Chad, Ray, Smokey, Junior Johnson, Tony Glover/Runt Pittman, Maurice Petty….
But the one that never gets mentioned that would be in the “innovators” hall of fame….Gary Nelson. Why the hell else would NASCAR hire him? He knew as many dirty tricks as anyone.
If 'ya ain't cheatin' 'ya ain't tryin"
Loved this
My favorite was T-Rex. The way that car mopped the floor then passed post race inspection. Must have been good cause the rule book changed.
creativity is part of what made nascar great.
The only “cheating” one he got caught was the spoiler that was rigged with a lever Jimmie had to pull or push while driving. Other than that, everything else was grey area.
Call him a cheater, without calling him a cheater..
Motorsports are the only sport where champions will openly admit to cheating lol
This is the “ factory “ that brought us the TRex car. Jeff should have down played it more.
Chad is a very smart man.
Is there anywhere i can find the whole podcast on video?? Ive looked everywhere
No, the only way to get the full podcast is on a podcasting platform. NBCSN does an hour version and we post clips here and on our social pages.
@@DirtyMoMedia thanks so much for the info. Love the podcast!!!! MuchLoveFromMemphis
You miss so much good content by not listening to the full podcast.
@@oldtown6240 i listen to them just like the video when i can get it.
@@joeyp4240 Me too. That was a good question. It seems a shame that a full video is not available. Seeing the facial reactions makes the experience better.
I'd call him a cheater! He's Smoky's illegitimate son. Glad Hrndrick's has deep pockets because those 7 championships cost him a bundle in fines alone!
IMHO, Ray Evernham and Chad Knaus both have integrity levels that are very low. Like his dad, Dale Jr has a very high integrity level. My opinions are from personal experiences when I raced in the NASCAR North series and when I worked at DIS 1996-2006 as part of the security/safety teams.
Godhardt Sr., the same guy that ruthlessly wrecked competitors, was an absentee dad, and called his peers "candy asses" for wanting improvements to safety as their fellow drivers were dying....very high integrity level? Yeah, gonna go with no here, dawg.
Jr literally says if his crew chief isn't getting busted he isn't trying hard enough... High integrity in your opinion 😂😂😂
Chad is the reason why Jimmy didn't have more fans. Chad's attitude is a problem.
What is Shia Lebouf doing working in NASCAR
Remember when Gordon had a victory and climbed on the roof and stomped it down after the burnout? The whole race the commentators were talking about the roof maybe being out of spec.
Junior Shame on you Chad's an innovator don't forget that
We call it pushing the envelope
Tony Stewart, please partner up with Dale Jr and BUY Nascar!!!!!!
Chad never told us about any of his innovations. LOL
Chad is a modern day Smokie Yunic.
Causing them to make rules is not cheating, like they said its innovating
Love it.....
It isn't what the rulebook says...
It is what it doesn't say...
That's awesome. Chadd had another option waiting whenever he got busted.
I N N O V A T I O N !
that stray hair is drivin me insane
Dale Jr...Whistleblower!
LarryWT, like his dad, Dale Jr has a very high integrity level. I worked at DIS 1996-2006 as part of the security/safety teams. Dale Sr was very picky about every race car that he ever drove. I remember a Saturday when he discovered that the #3's engine had a set of illegal cylinder heads on it. He demanded that they be changed, or he would NOT race the car on Sunday. Dale Sr always inspected every race car before he'd drive it. Anything not right got corrected/fixed, somebody got an ass chewing.
always...victory spin in the grass...oops front end torn off...
Rockford two step expert
8:38 he did hand it back in 2015 though
The hair out of place of buggin the hell out of me
If you aren’t cheating you are trying! End of story!
If ya ain’t pushing that grey area, you had better get used to 2nd place
Umm...27th place...
I don't ever step in the black (for example no tire chemicals) but always use the grey(must punch 55 after the race) and no I won't tell anything worth a dang on the internet LOL I have stepped had in the dark grey but if called on it I always have a valid argument (and have only "lost" 2x) so you all decide is it creative or cheatin
