made me very sad. I never got very good marks in math as a kid. But I improved consistently. Most cases I lost marks due to carelessness. Like I read the question wrong, or did not close a bracket, or wrote 54 instead of 45. And somehow my mom understood that I am not bad at math, I am just a bit impulsive. So she did not pressure me to get the highest mark by memorizing stuff. Math is the most natural and fun subject ever. But somehow many parents push kids too much just to get some meaningless marks, which make the kids miss out the fun of math.
