Oh you are going to enjoy it. Gray Fox recently reopened and should be in good shape. I played Longleaf two nights ago and it was excellent. See you when you get here!
Yes when I buy a gas cart right now I have a Club Car electric it only gets 50 to a charge, I played Southern Oaks 2 years ago on my life style visit I like it shot 77 the greens ran very true at that time so I putted well. A man my age has to depend on a good short game because the distance isn’t the same anymore at 76 years of age
ok, well I can't wait to hear your feedback on Shallow Creek, but I think you are doing amazing getting out and playing. I can only hope at 76 I am going to be just as active in golf as you are. Well done.
@@GolfingTheVillages Yea I can thank the Marine Corps for teaching me how to stay fit and active, when my back allows it I play about 4 days a week. Keep the videos coming I really enjoy your commentary on your game
Nice job Rick. We walked 9 there Monday and did an 18 hole scramble from the blues yesterday. It looks like a wide open resort course but we found it deceptively long, and if you have an errant shot in any of the rough…it eats balls! Keep up the good work, see you out there.
Yes Thank You so much, well said. I did also find some deep rough spots as well. Particularly Hole 5 which comes to mind, missed the green short of and had to go over the bunker.. I drew a good lie with the ball sitting up but my club was buried in the grass. Will do, we will see you on the course!
Looks like a nice course! Can’t wait to try it when we go back there in January! We all have days where we play not great but just forget about it and play good next time!
No you didn’t let us down we’ve all been there that’s golf unfortunately, take away those 2 holes and you had a good game from the gold tees. A few days ago I was playing at Hacienda Hills I was 1 under headed to the 9th hole at the Oaks course hit a big duck hook into out of bounce tee up my 3rd shot hit a big banana slice OB to the right. Hit my 5th shot finally on the fairway on in 6 2 putted for a 8. So see it happens. You’re playing great.
Thank You so much, you are correct. Really only the 7th and 9th holes were bad everything was good scrambling. Thank you for the kindness. Any plans on playing the new course yourself?
Thanks for taking the lids off the holes. Wow … virgin fairways (no divots) 😳 I can’t wait to play this track when I get back down there in the Fall. Course looks like it’s been there forever. Beautiful. They do such a nice job in the Villages 👏🏻 How was it? Greens looked nice. Was the grass nice? I didn’t see any bare spots. Looks like WIDE open fairways … a stark contrast to these tree lined bowling alleys I play up here in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. You played great through six holes, but then the wheels came off on #7 😂 It happens. That’s golf 🤷🏼♂️ Happy 4th of July, my friend 🇺🇸🎉 … Fairways & Greens ⛳️🏌️♂️
Yes I think the Villages did an excellent job with the layout, you are correct. The greens were so amazing firm, fast and they rolled so true. I didn't notice many, if any at all bare spots. It felt very open but the rough was up just a bit so if you did miss the fairway you would have to deal with a little fluffy grass which you don't normally see here in the villages. Thank you for the kind words, you enjoy the fourth as well, and Shallow Creek Golf Club is waiting for your arrival!
I have yet to play the back nine, however visually lots of similarities to southern oaks. Generous layout on the par 5's, with a tighter layout on the par 4's. It's nice to see a par three that plays in that 220 range on the scorecard. I think that can be a real boom or bust hole for golfers especially with the back right flag from the gold tees. For nine holes at noon with tax I paid $19.80, I think very reasonable.
Thought I’d be safe buying a a house a block away from the course, now I know who cracked my front window. 😅. LOL. Thanks for the video. Been there done that, keep up the good work.
Thought I was the only one who had trouble on Shallow Creek. So many of my buddies say they've had their best rounds there and I can't seem to get anything going. Not being on my Garmin S62 golf watch doesn't help.
You are not alone. Considering it's a new course and most if not all of the golf course mapping devices don't have any data whatsoever it would have been nice to have some yardage books or yardage cards. There are a few cover distances from off the tee which you just have to guess at. Having a laser range finder is helpful but you just have to do your best.
I am visiting The Villages Sunday-Wednesday. Scheduled to play Gray Fox and Longleaf. Can’t wait to get there.

It is a nice course, I think you will enjoy it. You are right about the golf game, it can be a bit streaky at times. Thanks for the kind words.
The course looks beautiful. Nice work. You're a much better golfer than I am.
Thank You, yes this course is a must play as it's brand new. I appreciate the kind words, I am a work in progress always looking to improve.
Hey Rick, no worries! A bad day of golf is always better then a good day at work.
Well said, thank you so much!

No worries, you’re still a lot of fun to watch. Hope both of you have a great Fourth of July.
Thank you so much, yes happy fourth of July to you as well!
How would you rate it compared to Southern Oaks? What was the enhanced golf fee?

Oh LOL, the question is could I have played it? It really would have saved me some strokes! My pleasure, thank you for watching and commenting.

Putting for an 8???? Really???
It was for a natural triple bogey since it was a Par 5, but to your point I could have also picked the ball up.
